I am connecting from Brooklyn, NY, USA is happening on my home ISP connection (Spectrum) as well as my cell service provider (T-Mobile). I am not using a VPN of any kind; d...

Vote what you think - there is no right or wrong.
I'm not a mod here and not an American so I'm leery of expressing my own opinions with the somewhat odd electrical code requirements.

Good morning! Is there perhaps anyone here that knows a lot about heat pumps (an air-water one) and their energy usage? I've been trying to get mine to have a lower standby consumption (preferably 'none' when both hot water and heating are turned off, but the only way to achieve that is to turn off all power to it) for almost a year now, and the past few days it has gotten worse instead of better. :/

PSA: new users can include up to eight photos in their posts. Stop telling them to upload them somewhere, and start telling them to use the site features to post their images.

btw, might be a good idea to have a field that asks for country/region when crafting a question... both building code stuff and product availability can be very localised, so this gets the asker to their answer faster

Q: "Hire a professional" answers

Tyler DurdenFrequently there will be "hire a professional" answers which are not really answers; it's just punting because you could give that answer to EVERY single question on the site. This site is about doing it yourself, so when somebody answers "hire a tradesman", that seems non-responsive to me. I thi...

@TheEvilGreebo Probably because those that are serious go through the DMCA process. I half suspect the question was actually spam trying to get SEO links to their site.

@Bijan79 I'd go with something thin and formable. Depending on what you have for stock and tools, either some thin sheet metal or something like Kydex plastic that can be formed.
Dec 31, 2020 07:31
@Bijan79 ok - its really not my area, but you can identify the T/P item by following the black wire and see what it looks like. That will be the Neutral.
The live 120V lead will go to some kind of switch for high/low speed, and that will go via two diffeerent wires to the motor itself.
Orange and Red will go to a start capacitor and you don't need to touch them.

Don't own a mill or have good hold-downs on the lathe, so the finished nut was more of a round with a couple of pinholes in it for leverage. But its underneath the porcelain and noone can see it :) I call that a win.
