sorry, i just don't find today's american cars appealing anymore. i was a huge dodge fan - had 2 dodge stratus's (first 4 door, then the coupe) but the last few cars have been foreign - has a Nissan Murano and now a Toyota Prius
I'm replacing a damaged beam under my house with bricks under each floor joist. The bricks are 15mm lower than the original beam. I've been told to use roof slates to pack the rest of the height.
I'm slightly skeptical due to slates being brittle. Could I use synthetic slates instead?
I've read...
maybe someone with aids cut themselves while playing with lego's, in the presence of the opposite sex and they found that aids could not be contracted that way?
@ChrisCudmore I'm going 16:9/9:16, browse and do DB and test work in 16:9 keep my code in 9:16 and my email, cuz I keep missing stuff when it's covered up because our email sucks monkey balls
"Excuse me sir. Seeing as how the VP is such a VIP, shouldn't we keep the PC on the QT, because if it leaks to the VC, you could end up an MIA, and then we'd all be put on KP."
we have a couple iseries - the new one came in its own rack - give it power and network - bit of config and dump the program on it.
i don't do much with it - the other admin maintains it, but i'd consider one for apache / php if i ever run my own servers for my startup. i think the hardware is solid. better than the dell shit we run for the windows side
people are so quick to jump on kickstarter or score some VC than to work their ass off trying to do something on their own. don't get me wrong, we've spent "some" money but only on what we need. otherwise, i'm the programmer, hes the idea man
thanks though - one thing to say your gonna do something. whole different world to actually see it through
@BMitch those are good points that i've heard. i've just gotten frustrated seeing projects on kickstarter - 2mil here, 5mil there, etc... or the people that get VC - Colour - 100mil for a iphone app? and i'm sitting here, working a day job, up till midnight working on my startup. trying to justify spending X on something that'll make life life easier.
BUT, conversly - we're live now - and we're getting people signed up on the site already (40 in the last 2 weeks) (we're very niche) so its happening. and when we bring in money, i'll be happy i owe shit to anyone.
when we went live - i sent an email campaign to a small group - 30 people - and 40 registered - so their spreading the word. i have another list of national people we're targeting. this list has 700 emails. we're gonna blast that once i work through a few more bugs. if the effect is anything similar to the initial list of 30 i blasted, it should be a very merry christmas
think of pharm drugs. would a drug salesman like to be infront of an established doctor who see's 20 pharm reps a day? or be in front of a student, influence them, and then the student becomes a pro, they go back to the pharm rep exclusively
We had 7 doctors writing the questions. Each had a different idea as to how the others should have written their questions.
I pay 25 bucks a year for dental. Work insurance covers the rest.
Good plan.
But we tend to get better dental plans in Canada, because they don't need to pay for medical in the plan -- Just the extras like private rooms, drugs and equipment like crutches slings.
for the longest time i was terrified of dentists / doctors. bad experience as a child. my teeth were so bad i needed a full scaling - 3 separate teeth cleaning procedures. dentists covered it for me. something $1200 worth of work
latex sherwin williams paint is actually very forgiving on plastic leviton outlets as long as you wipe it up quickly - plus who rolls around the outlets? i brush around the outlets 4 inches, then feather in with the roller
@ChrisCudmore dad and i like to put the outlets in before drywall to make sure the electrical is right. would really suck to drywall just to find out you f'ed up the electrical somehow haha
Well, it rained pretty heavily the entire week while I was working, so I waited a day or two before drywalling to see if I could find a leak. I believe whatever was causing the problem was fixed. I think the mold there was from back when that window used to be a doorway.
Here's my fix:
The wall...
when we were picking a white to be used throughout the house on the trim, the wife chose from no less than 20 shades of white. took her and her father a week to decide on the trim color, let alone what to paint a room
other than ceilings and trim, i dont think we have a single wall painted white in the house
the kitchen is the only one we did 2 times in the last 3 years. it was a complete gut and we had a light blue on hand so we used it when we remodeled it (3 years ago). we re-painted it a dark tericotta just this spring
the tones of all the rooms are the same, just different colors. if i showed you a picture of all the major rooms, if you didnt know, you'd think they were all from different houses
each room has a purpose and its own style. the dining room is a darker lavander / grey - cause its a sit down / have a nice dinner room. bedroom is calming darker blue, family room is a medium beige to match the furniture
@ChrisCudmore Lovely. I work for a public school district, so I'm constantly bombarded with emails, flyers, pamphlets, t-shirts, etc -- all in Comic Sans.
I've been thinking of ways to continually add content to the blog, and the most recent idea is to have a recurring series of posts detailing DIY "bloopers". The general idea is for users to submit "mistakes" they've made while improving their homes, and posting 5-10 of them in a monthly/bi-month...
Has anyone used the new Lutron CL dimmers with two companion dimmers? My kitchen lights have 3 switches and I'm thinking of replacing them with CL dimmers.
Which means one master and two companions. But the instructions for the master say to refer to the instructions for the companion for how to wire them all together, and I can't find the latter anywhere on the Lutron website.
Lutron technical support is being a pain. Me: please email me a link. Them: please call our technical support, wait on hold, explain what you need, get the wrong information, repeat as needed.
So, was wondering if anyone has installed the CL dimmers
Sorry to talk about home improvement instead of torturing sea creatures with Cypress Hill tunes
Unrelated derail: Poster says, "I need a new computer and really like having two monitors." I give a few recommendations for low end pc's (low end user). Some time later, 3rd person asks, "Curious as to why you're advocating the two monitor capability, Greebo?"
Me: Because I read the OP's post. You may slap yourself in the forehead now. ;)
