The ball is just over 1/2" and the bar stock was 18mm, thats about 4 hours for my squidgy little lathe.

Hello, can I ask a question about what is appropriate for the DIY site?
I would like to ask a question about cloth covers for propane tanks.

Specifically, I asked this question on the Physics Stack Exchange, and it was closed as off-topic - https://physics.stackexchange.com/questions/570342/is-it-dangerous-or-safe-to-use-a-black-dark-cloth-cover-on-a-propane-tank


Would this be suitable to move the question to DIY instead?

The site isn't DIY, it's Home Improvement, so we cover topics related to the home itself. That explicitly excludes hobby projects. If the tank is a permanently attached fixture to the home and you're asking how to safely cover it, that's probably on topic. If this is a portable grill that you want to make look more attractive, good chance it's off topic.

Hello, thank you for the reply. The tank is not permanently attached to the home; it is portable.

My goal is not to alter the look or aesthetics, but rather for safety. I'm not sure if this is a home safety issue I should be concerned about, or if it's okay.
Do you think this type of safety home storage question would be on topic for the site?
