Hey diy'ers! I have a question/heads up about https://diy.stackexchange.com/help/on-topic

I'm part of the RV and van-dwelling community, and the RV/vans are homes on wheels. People deal with the following:
1) Carpentry
2) Plumbing / bathroom
3) Electrical and Solar installs
4) insulation and Heating

I think those 4 are on topic. Like https://diy.stackexchange.com/questions/97447/what-insulation-materials-for-converted-vans

But, these are probably off topic:
4) Anything about maintaining/buying a vehicle (instead: https://mechanics.stackexchange.com/ )

Sounds reasonable. It is your home after all. There a lot of crossover/grey points, like "buying a vehicle for conversion to a camper"
"tricks/techniques for falling asleep when its raining/hailing outside"
"waterproofing" <-- I suspect this subject could be on-topic in the greatest number of SE sites, somehow :))
(you have two #4 btw)
I've always taken the fuzzy edge cases and treated them as on-topic, but sometimes point out the querstion to another SE site that could take it, via their site chatroom.
There are often points to be made from both/all sides, that aren't immediately obvious
For example over on Bicycles we had a question about "how do I carry my bike on a canoe" cos OP wanted to do a downriver trip.
The cyclists were answering about how to clamp the bike, and what could happen if it was exposed to water a lot, and what if it was stolen, etc.
Then the qyuestion was migrated to Great Outdoors where points about the canoe were raised, which weren't considered by the cyclists, like "what about rollover and recovery if there's a bike on the canoe?"
Point here is, cross pollination can be awesome.

@chongman I'd say that the vehicle chassis, drivetrain, and DC electrical systems are mechanics.se, while the vehicle's finish carpentry, plumbing, AC electrical, and major appliances are suitable here (this split is based partly on NEC Article 551)
Thanks for confirming. I just try to ask first to be a good citizen. Thanks!
