VyMC: Given a string, return the count of uppercase and lowercase letters. E.g.: "aAbBcCzD?" -> [4, 4]`

@lyxal I also tried searching for "slice." In Brachylog, it's called "substring," which is a bit confusing since the description uses the word "sublist." :P

@cairdcoinheringaahing I was wondering where your username came from. also is that one of lyxal's gpt3 things?

A: The many users of CGCC

caird coinheringaahing"caird coinheringaahing" comes from this Jelly answer. Given that the answer is written in Jelly (my primary language on the site), and the challenge is very much about the site, I thought that it'd be a fun, unique username that references the site. And it should be pronounced "cared co-in-hear-...

TL;DR it's a PPCG (old site name) themed, Jelly themed username

cool.

@lyxal This is something different, but I like how it looks

11:06 PM
@DLosc believe it or not that has an edit distance of 1 from my intended 5 byte answer

@lyxal I do kind of believe it. Quad-something-or-other seems like it should be the way to go... I'm just not quite sure how works yet.

It's basically vertically mirror then horizontally mirror

@cairdcoinheringaahing About time I updated the "I may change my username to Dude coinheringaahing at some point" bit :P

@DLosc The overlap part is to say that it's different to palindromising it
So my hint to get that 5 byter to work is to look for other elements that join lists of strings

@lyxal Wait, so shouldn't it say that is without overlap?

11:10 PM
Please ^

@DLosc I think you're right

Hey @lyxal, Hi.

(Pip has both QP for quad-palindromize with overlap and QR for quad-reflect without overlap.)

to prevent rickrolls, Any feedback?

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

FmbalbuenaMove the next greater number, with fewest fails to take everything Your task is to move the next greater number, with fewest fails to take everything A fail counts if a step is the lower number (not counting equal) The starting point is the top left corner Example: 1234 Can do like this >>> Bec...

@lyxal Aha

11:16 PM
VyCMC: Oh, no the LOTM ends, what we do? just print "Vyxal ended, what now?" and check if the number is prime.

VyMC: Return the longest word in a string - words are defined as \W+. The string may contain any printable ascii character.

@lyxal Spoiler

Hint: øW might be of use

Oh, also: is this intended behavior? The tutorial led me to believe the result should be 2.

11:19 PM
@DLosc ah that's a result of outdated documentation and or potential type overload confusion
The intended behaviour is for hyphens to be appended/prepended
As to help with ascii art challenges
And iirc the reason that overload was chosen is because o exists
!!/run `121` 1o

@lyxal 2

@lyxal Is it possible the longest word is 1 character? Is it possible there are no words?

@DLosc for simplicity sake, I'll say there's always a longest word but it could be one character

@lyxal Wait, øW says [A-Za-z] and the challenge says \w+. Which is it?

@DLosc they're equivalent aren't they?

11:32 PM
The string may contain any printable ascii character.

\w is [A-Za-z0-9_]

@DLosc oh
My regex skills aren't the sharpest
[A-z]

@DLosc which is often annoying when the challenge wants alphanumeric characters but not underscores

[A-z] would also include [\\]^_`

[A-Za-z] then
VyMC: Given a positive integer n, return [fac(n), fac(2 ^ n)]

11:41 PM
uh, ²"¡

I got E"¡

@emanresuA that's n ^ 2 not 2 ^ n, nerd.
@Nitrodon that's correct

Admittedly, the textual part of the E documentation says "a ** 2, or eval(a)"

VyMC: Given a list and a string, replace every third item of that list with the string
You can choose whether you count every third item including the first or whether you start on the third

@lyxal 7 bytes. Why doesn't this work?

11:49 PM
@DLosc I can only assume there's a bug with it somewhere
I really need to work on a way to allow function overloads to be tested in the main element testing workflow

@lyxal Line 2048: for item in biggest[1:]:should probably be for item in lhs[1:]:.

@lyxal Kinda disappointed that Ȧ doesn't just do this when given a list of indices.
Whoops, wrong case of w, never mind

@Nitrodon if this was the vyxal chat room, someone would have used !!/issue by now to open an issue on github lol

@Nitrodon What's your github account?

@emanresuA Unfortunately, Nitrodon was taken.

11:59 PM
Well in the last moments of vyxal lyal and Vyxal bot, it's time to say goodbye to the bot

Oh no, is the bot going to die? :(

!!/run `Bye bye, beep boop` ½hp - TNB

@lyxal Bye bye, TNB
