I have a friend who worked on the Shuttle Main Engine. I think I can get him hooked on the site if I hand him a question or two that he could answer from personal experience. But there aren't a lot of questions and none about the main engines. Do you have any burning questions on that system?

Apparent Failed de-orbit. Not to be pedantic, but isn't this like HHGG definition of learning to fly? "Jump at the ground, and miss". If you are in orbit, how do you fail to deorbit? Accelerate out of orbit I guess, but eventually, air resistance is gonna win.

@Feeds Typical SO crap. In the case of the company, I would not enforce this blog SO thing so strongly. The incompetence and stupidity radiates from the bloggers.

Ok, that is a pretty good XKCD.

But instead of hitting the ocean, you should land in an overheating hot tub on a sinking cruise ship, sending it crashing through the floor into the burning engine room as the ship goes under.

"Previously, the only thing beyond Ludicrous was Plaid.

And now, the only thing beyond Plaid is two Starships on the pad at the same time." John Kraus. (That is a good line!)

So I see Cygnus just departed ISS. There was Soyuz, Dragon Crew, Dragon Cargo, Cygnus, and almost certainly one or two Progress vehicles on station. That is pretty diverse! :) 5 different vehicles? Too bad the last HTV was not still there. Would be nice to have gotten a picture of the US side to see how 3 of the 4 ports were in use.

Thought of the day: if they don't change the naming convention, the name of the next in the Delta family of rockets will be causing a lot of confusion in the space community...

For anyone who hasn't already, I highly recommend taking a look at SE's drafted Code of Conduct on MSE. Now is the time to provide feedback on it, and it will potentially have a big effect on moderation.

Since delays should get less likely closer to the launch, most astronomers in 2018 believed the expansion of the schedule was slowing, but by early 2020 new measurements indicated that it was actually accelerating.
