@Gigili I hope I haven't offended you in any way. In any case: I voted on it because I appreciate the honesty, not to make it more visible or anything. If you have a problem with that, you can re-post the comment and I won't vote again.
@tb Well then: screw him! WTH. I want to punch myself for writing the stupid message that made him come back. Seriously: we're all nice, make him come back and as soon as he returns all he does is speak badly of Asaf.
@EricGregor I think here we should call it not "baby-kissing" but "proof kissing". Something like this: Hey Rob, you know I've been thinking a lot about those Bezout proofs, and I'm beginning to realize: who needs them universal GCD proofs? Does anyone really work in anti-matter domains?
@robjohn I see a few ghastly things there, so I'm not sure I'm following. I see that it could point to the MathGems fiasco, and then there's an exchange in the comments I'm not really happy about.
@robjohn I'm curious, why do you want to be a moderator as I know nobody that became more popular (but I'm sure you will not be any less popular) and it costs you quite some time which you could spend doing mathematics :-).
@PeterTamaroff Abuse because he was unnecessarily unpleasant when trying to tell someone that what they were doing wasn't right.
@BillDubuque No but I think we're not talking about the same incident. The thing I'm talking about was a bunch of comments. The guy had written a wrong answer and you were telling him that it was wrong.
@MattN And, as you may recall, many people were shocked that a mod suspended someone for 30 days for that comment. As I said, there was much more to it than that. But it has little to do with who should be moderator.
@BillDubuque Bill: Level headed people should be moderators, I know you agree with me. And neither myself nor you are level-headed enough to be a moderator. You will agree with me again if you're honest with yourself.
does anyone know of a good resource to find problems and solutions involving tempered distributions?i want to get a feel for how one can DO things with this generalized application of fourier analysis. some nice toy examples would be enlightening
@skullpatrol No doubt. When one is as outspoken as I, one cannot help but bump into them. But even I was shocked in this instance. That's the problem with virtual worlds, you cannot easily get visual clues when feathers are ruffling.
@MattN I can't speak for you. But I wear many very different hats, personal vs. professional, etc. As I said in my statement, as a mod I will wear my professional hat.
