@Jodamo117 what I did however was I ran Ubuntu with the onboard graphics, then installed drivers for Nvidia, to only at the end plug in the discreed graphics card.
@Takkat I wonder if you could disable the discrete card in the BIOS as an alternative to prying open the case and physically detaching it from the PCIe slot?

could I possibly get a token upvote here to close Q since OP cannot find the accept button (or someone contribute better answer) askubuntu.com/questions/819464/… ?
I say that all the time @Arronical because in normal mode I swear horrendously, and when teaching kids and talking to their parents I have to use clean mode
"Hi, I know the answer to your question, and I will give it to you if you first read this tutorial and confirm that you know how to ACCEPT the answer that helped you the most"
I usually accidentally toggle back into expletive mode within half an hour, and immediately if the student has to work on some windows machine with parental controls blocking everything
I only figured out a couple of years ago that when my Dad used to say 'For crying out loud!' that it was a cover up. The 'for' sounded suspiciously like 'fuh', and with the next word starting with a c, it was fairly creative.
I think the OP wanted what was closest to how they'd originally written his script, or achieving their goal with least lines possible. I tried to pass on a bit of knowledge around the subject, but I suspect hey just wanted something that would work.
I had an issue with that guy but justice was done, sorry to see your case, you weren't so lucky
(he got an accept by editing my comment hint into his blahblah answer that totally missed the error in the script - I wrote an answer and OP changed accept, bless 'em)
Questions come and go, I'm aiming not to get too hung up on stuff like that, just be content with how I wrote the answer. Plus I had a nice comment form Serg, so not all bad!
Is anyone from Germany in here today? I am having a strange issue on this askubuntu.com/questions/819486/… it works for me but OP cannot connect to the domain, wonderd if it was something to do with his location?
@MarkKirby it was actually about your post. Someone is flagging all the comments as obsolete these days and it's making me read more posts than I really want to.
@MarkKirby this page may be blocked for them? If I were SysAdmin of their machine I'd probably add any dl4players to the not so much wanted sites.

@A.B.: I'm not sure if I previously pinged you about this, but I tried out Kubuntu 16.04.1 and everything was incredibly buggy during the installation process, the installer even hid itself and made me believe it had finished before it had so I think it only half-installed as I restarted it at that point.
Eh, it makes me uncomfortable to do it anyway! For context, at the time there were no upvotes. It looked like the question was going to lie there looking unanswered. But still. I won't do it. Because you are one person whose opinion I respect.
Thanks for that. You also miss the fun of getting your answers accepted nearly 4-5 years later.
Serving as a reminder to show how crappy my answers were in the past.
@Zanna Look, I understand why people do it and that green checkmark is a nice validation mark too but ultimately it reflects poorly on all of us, claiming to be here to help people and focusing on getting some points instead.
