@Marco if you have any recommendations for that program/script, let me know. I do all my dev coding outside of the bzr... in github... in a private repo... :P
i'm amending it: [ <standard rage level due to how much is on schedule> * (50000000 * <number of projects with an unfeasible due date>) * <Hours to work with MSoft software> * (6*<number of systems running Windows XP>) ] ^ <number of servers being evil> == hyper rage mode, level 500000000000000000000000000
perhaps the State should stop working with Windows machines
its actually dependent on the number of servers at the server farm that are not working right
which is a big number
remove that, work with jsut this: [ <standard rage level due to how much is on schedule> * (50000000 * <number of projects with an unfeasible due date>) * <Hours to work with MSoft software> * (6*<number of systems running Windows XP>) ]
and it ends up being rage mode 6
which isnt bad at all
because i'm usually around rage-2
:P
anyways, @Marco did you test 2.0 of that script? the PPAs were updated last night with the pushed changes
I'm running through the steps at askubuntu.com/questions/16988/… and I'm stuck at the stage "Mount the USB drive to the installation environment". The USB disk is listed in the devices, but its menu item is disabled. Any help guys?
pretty straightforward... streamlines manually grabbing a key from a keyserver and adding it to the apt keyring (so that PPAs, packages, etc. that are signed would work)

@Marco was testing yesterday and confirmed the bug
@Greg Born in Essex (but really, that's all), lived most of my life in Cambridgeshire, have been in Southampton for the past 3 years but am in the process of moving to Norfolk (I've made it as far as north-west-Suffolk so far, will make it all the way some time this month.
This is something I've been curious about. I make a lot of small bash scripts (.sh files) to do tasks that I routinely do. Some of those tasks require everything to be ran as superuser. I've been curious: Is it possible to, within the BASH script prior to everything being run, check if the sc...

following this tutorial askubuntu.com/questions/16988/… on installing ubuntu to a usb hdd, it almost completed, then complained that an error occurred when trying to install the boot loader, and I had to then choose dev/sda dev/sda1 dev/sda2 or dev/sda3, or skip installing a boot loader.
I skipped loading the boot loader, then the installer crashed
@Kim Well. First you need to join launchpad then you need to sign the CoC, then you need to find a project, find a bug/feature request, write code, submit the patch to the team, they'll review and reject/approve it.
Then your code is in the project. If you want direct commit access to certain projects you'll need to apply at each individual project. Typically they only accept people who have been actively fixing bugs/building features
There is no "one Ubuntu code base" it's comprised of a large number of smaller projects.
The majority of those projects are hosted on LaunchPad
@Kim Well, is currently patching the Ubuntu Linux kernel for customization, they typically won't incorporate customization that don't provide a benefit to the larger community. However, you're free to patch the kernel and compile it as much as you want.
The best way to get involved with Kernel hacking is to view the bug and security issues for the kernel and to join the Ubuntu-Kernel IRC room on freenode.net
