9:03 PM
Hi all!
I have not been able to test 11.10 for the past week; can someone tell me if it is okay for early testers like me to try upgrading?

@Greg been thinking of it a bit. I think you need the bios_grub for EFI only. For a normal boot the boot flag should be o.k.

JS Studio is so big now that it takes nearly a minute to rebuild the project.

@RolandTaylor I had it installed on a USB stick and was not too happy. Should update it however (what I haven't done yet)

@Takkat what if I had bios_grub? (Because that's what I've done now!) it won't hurt will it?

@Greg To be honest I haven't formatted with GPT so far, so I don't really know. If you can't boot, then at least you know what to change ;P

9:07 PM
ok give me 18 hours (VM is slow)

@GeorgeEdison: sound like a really great thing then!
@Greg it shouldn't be that slow... :/ I had my install done in 30 min.
(base install)

</BOOM>
how's things

To summarize: good!

I'm looking for a more current experience lol.
Someone who has been running it daily and can tell me if it's safe for usage.
Or better, someone who upgraded from 11.04.

The I am not the one you want to ask, I upgraded from 10.04 to 11.04 today ;P
(but am very happy so far!)
The USB install of 11.10 was for thrills of course
but something constantly crashes and makes a smooth experience impossible
(haven't had the time to find out what it was)
<-- feels like having to boot 11.10 now

9:15 PM
I really want to upgrade, but I don't want to break my system.

@Roland it's not stable yet. You know better than to use an unstable thing

@TheEvilPhoenix I always upgrade before anything is stable :)
I'm talking about whether it is going to kill my dog and skin my cat (figuratively).
Like for example, will there be a lot of application or driver breakage?

@RolandTaylor Back to the picture of the cat pushing the watermellon?

@GeorgeEdison for now, yes :D

Q: Sorting Unity 3D Search Results

enobrevWhen I hit the "Windows Key" and search for an application, the order is always incorrect (imo). As a very simple example, I'll search for "calc". The default Ubuntu calculator is 3rd from the left (next to the Calc widget and Libre Office Calc). I noticed this the first time and assumed the...

That should have been insta-closed...
Why is it still open?

9:33 PM
@Takkat hmm, the moment of truth... only a couple of minutes to installation complete...

How do I fix "no public keys available" errors? http://bit.ly/qPrXxA #1104

@Takkat @Everyone ah crap!
it seems the installer has completed, but simply has not succeeded with installing the boot loader
any ideas?

9:50 PM
Do you know your way around the command line?

@RolandTaylor well... I'm not afraid of it.

hmm
You might be able to install the boot loader with the grub-install command

Woooooo!
It works!

But I don't want to suggest that if you are unsure of what you are doing
@GeorgeEdison the space ship?
oops...

JS Studio's support for JavaScript scripts!

9:52 PM
attempts to erase that....

Example:

> MainWindow.NewFile();
That will create a new empty file in the main window.
Stick that in a file named main.js and put it in a folder in the scripts directory.

awesome!

...and presto! Instant script!

9:54 PM
(reminds me I need to brush up on my javascript)

It will be a lot of fun... it will have a built-in script browser like Firefox's addon manager.
...and users will be able to submit scripts, etc.

sweet!

@StefanoPalazzo: We have to integrate PythonFu.com with JS Studio :)
I better commit these changes...

@GeorgeEdison oh yes. that'd be a nice plugin, like a built in search box for pyfu

@Greg sorry been away booting into 11.10 - no idea on my side...
278 updates take a bit :/
@Greg: try with MSDOS and boot flag. That would be my next step...

10:10 PM
free rep is nice :P
thanks marco ceppi! :)

@Alvar you got free rep?
i got free r ep too...
but now i have 2k rep :P

@StefanoPalazzo Yeah! And also perhaps the ability to import scripts from PythonFu.com directly into the current project.
That would be epic!

@StefanoPalazzo @MarcoCeppi isnt this offtopic/NaRQ?
