Apr 29, 2021 12:18
@CowperKettle Why do you do what you do do?
Apr 29, 2021 12:15
@M.A.R. Of course. That's how I know you love me. Why else would you have done it? (The trick is to ignore stalkers or maybe Interpol takes reports on them?) But think twice before involving any authorities, because in the stalker's sick mind, the stalker often considers themself the stalkee. Next thing you know, you're both in court and the freak is making eye contact with you.
Apr 28, 2021 04:59
Waves back, which is harder than waving hand.

I got a SE message, but not an email :(
Apr 28, 2021 04:54
@M.A.R. I just knew you cared! And I also knew you was illiterate. It all makes so much sense.
Apr 23, 2021 03:06
@Usernew Yes. It means "so I wouldn't have had to have taken those dives" with "take a dive" meaning, in boxing, to pretend to get knocked out or lose in exchange for money

Is there something like if you haven’t been in here for x days, you won’t get notified if someone pings you? I hate to think that my fans feel I’ve deserted them, like the Iranian chemist. That guy adores me.
Oct 9, 2019 11:10
That's an outrage!
Oct 9, 2019 11:10
Why can't we decide for ourselves how must time should pass that we're not active in the room before pings no longer work?
Oct 9, 2019 11:09
Has @shoe been in here lately? Hmm.. guess not.
Oct 9, 2019 11:08
@M.A.R. Hmmm... Good, joke, inappropriate. Yes. Only one of those doesn't apply to you.
Jul 23, 2019 04:36
@AIQ I meant: Is there so much response to your question ....
Jul 23, 2019 04:35
@AIQ Is there so response to your question that revising it, even totally changing it, makes a mess? If so, you can delete the question yourself. Leave a comment on the question, explaining why. It will eventually get deleted. You should ask a new one. If you're not yet clear on how you want to ask, maybe someone in here can help you write it.
Jul 23, 2019 04:29
@ColleenV I defer to your judgement. They've also apparently asked the same question all over the Internet. Anyway, I don't answer very often, and this sort of thing is one reason why. But it's true that I'm not willing to search for potential duplicates, or participate in the community in advocating for policy or tradition changes. I hear your explanations and now I get it better.
Jul 22, 2019 15:35
Maybe the person's a dame, maybe not.
Jul 22, 2019 15:34
I see that fumblefingers found a duplicate by the dame person, but this one now has an answer that I think is probably pretty responsive to the question, and covers the possibility that an unusual context could change the answer. Any ideas?
Jul 22, 2019 15:32
we could say don't show research or enough details, because we can take a plain reading.
Jul 22, 2019 15:31
Ok, I'm not really crying, but I think there are tons of great questions that
Jul 22, 2019 15:28
I don't envy your job as a mod, and I really appreciate it, so I don't want to quibble. But it is a bit frustrating to find it closed while crafting an answer. 😢😢
Jul 22, 2019 15:25
Hi @ColleenV. I can understand the perspective for putting ell.stackexchange.com/questions/219013/… on hold. But I think it's a somewhat subjective call.
May 10, 2019 07:01
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Answer: Les Miserables. Question: How would the French accurately describe @M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ 's family since the day he was born?
May 10, 2019 04:09
@Man_From_India O.O I'll send you a PM! I didn't mean to give you a sad face! 😂
May 10, 2019 04:06
@Man_From_India is my friend independent of ELL, so I assumed I knew how he would take it. But your answer reminds me that such assumptions are often wrong, and ... beyond that, it reminds me that I'll offer him my assistance in saying what he said in a way that might be more accessible to more people. 👍
May 10, 2019 04:06
@ColleenV Absolutely. I just wanted to share my own reaction with him, but not on the question, and certainly not as a downvote. Feedback is just that, right? For its receiver to decide if it's useful to them or not.
May 9, 2019 17:38
But I do like you. Unlike certain other... chemists that inhabit this chat room.
May 9, 2019 17:37
If I want to learn what allvthag other stiff means, related to the terms CGEL gives to the constructions and the differences in meaning, then I need an explanation that is easier for a non-expert to read. So, unfortunately, I (personally) don't like it as an answer.
May 9, 2019 17:35
@Man_From_India For me, your answer is so technical, dense, and detailed. I'm not motivated to read it because I basically just want to know if it's ok without the verb, and why.
May 8, 2019 10:18
Regarding ^ question, @M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ just private messaged me: I just know they're talking about me. I haven't slept for days and can't stop crying about it.

Q: What do you call an emotional, sensitive person's character?

A-friendIs there any fixed term which can describe an emotional person who is very gentle, kind, sensitive, and can be easily upset? I think a construction of "gentle," "delicate," and "tender" plus "morale" or possible "character" can work; although, this is only a simple guess and rooted from the qua...

May 8, 2019 10:12
@userr2684291 Yes, I've seen that info before, but in an informal situation, I just say Google's definition, Google('s) dictionary. In a formal situation, I think I've used "Google define operation" or similar. Because if they ain't sayin, I don't think we can know precisely what it is except that.
May 8, 2019 10:07
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Well orange you funny.
May 7, 2019 01:04
Exercise: How large is your majority?
May 7, 2019 01:03
User2~pi is correct. A significant majority means not just a majority (anything greater than 50%), but a majority that's large (above 50%) enough to be "sufficiently great or important to be worthy of attention; noteworthy". That's from Google's definition of significant. You can have a small majority, a tiny one, large, vast, overwhelming, etc.
May 7, 2019 00:53
Is that ^ acceptably punctuated?
May 7, 2019 00:52
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ You got me on that one, but how dare you speak to a grown-up that way!
May 6, 2019 16:28
So much for the anonymity
May 6, 2019 16:19
He lives at 4 date trees past the sand dunes to the left of the large used camel auction market in an orange and yellow tent that smells like cooking oil smoke and saffron.
May 6, 2019 16:16
Even in Persianic logic, that should be straightforward.
May 6, 2019 16:15
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ 's true name is Mohammed Ahmed Rohammed. He can't have "grown up" here in SE as he claims for the simple reason that he hasn't grown up.
May 4, 2019 12:30
Jim Reynolds hangs his head in shame. Hurls a double-decker bus at @userr2684291, out of affection.

May 4, 2019 12:29
Yeah. I'm sure there's a way here, but I forgot it.
May 4, 2019 12:28
was here when IRC was a thing. Missed it completely, but was here. Then was here again when it was sort of a cool retro thing.
May 4, 2019 12:27
gets it
May 4, 2019 12:26
Ah. ok. So, There's a way to do it though, right?
May 4, 2019 12:26
/me looks around, wondering if that command works in this chat
May 4, 2019 12:24
ok, ok. I'm just so high-energy because I want to avoid finishing a work project. Sigh.
May 4, 2019 12:24
Yes, and I ask: Are games not real-life phenomena?
May 4, 2019 12:23
@ColleenV haha. The important thing is that we connect with something that engages us
May 4, 2019 12:22
Is imagination not real?
May 4, 2019 12:18
Every had a fireball hurled at you?
