> I believe "which" here refers back to the whole sentence - "cheetahs can run fast". So you need to remove "move". For the same reason, adding "on land" as the answer says is awkward. And adding "do" is wrong.

Q: Is it possible "which" refers to "a verb" or "adverb"?

Floret Cheetahs can run fast, which they can't move in water. Lions can live in the savanna, which they can't in the jungle. In number 1, which is referring to "fast". In number 2, which is referring to "live". Can it be grammatically acceptable that "which" can refer to a verb or adverb...

I am really worried about the comments and the answers there. Am I wrong or they are correct? Anyway I feel that the answer needs correction. And I don't agree with the comments as well. So I left my own comment there
Please correct me if I am wrong.

@Man_From_India I moved those comments to chat, and I'm on my way to bed, but my first instinct here is that you're on the right track, but the sentences are not even close to being correct so they're hard work with.
Cheetahs can run fast, which makes them hard to catch.
Cheetahs are fast on land, but slow in water.
I will think about it some more when I'm less sleepy :)

Cheetos are slower than cheetahs.
Cheeto is president.

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Well orange you funny.
@userr2684291 Yes, I've seen that info before, but in an informal situation, I just say Google's definition, Google('s) dictionary. In a formal situation, I think I've used "Google define operation" or similar. Because if they ain't sayin, I don't think we can know precisely what it is except that.

Q: What do you call an emotional, sensitive person's character?

A-friendIs there any fixed term which can describe an emotional person who is very gentle, kind, sensitive, and can be easily upset? I think a construction of "gentle," "delicate," and "tender" plus "morale" or possible "character" can work; although, this is only a simple guess and rooted from the qua...

Regarding ^ question, @M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ just private messaged me: I just know they're talking about me. I haven't slept for days and can't stop crying about it.

Words of the day: mea culpa
Anonymous
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ If I asked you whether mea culpa was one word or two, what arguments could you come up with for either position?
@snailboat Lots and lots. But maybe no valid argument
For the two words-ness, I extrapolated from the languages I know to this ancient Gandalf language that makes Englishers seem smart and I unscientifically concluded it must be two words

Man_From_IndiaCan you please help me parse this sentence: The best way to enjoy a fine wine is slowly. Please explain the structure of the sentence. I am mostly having trouble with slowly after is.

Q: Disjunct/Adjunct and the focus of cleft sentence

Man_From_IndiaI generally don't follow the terminology and framework of A Comprehensive Grammar of the English Language (CGEL) by Quirk et al., rather I follow The Cambridge Grammar of the English Language (CaGEL). But at times I do read CGEL. It is during one of those reading session I came across this: o...

And I badly need help.
Namaskar!
Namaskar Kettle
Guys do you know it is Cowper's birthday today?
Happy bday Kettle ji
16:46
@Man_From_India I probably did but I forgot
I barely remember mine
@Man_From_India Thank you!
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ When is yours?
Dec 26th
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Really?
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Nice! My sister's on 10 January
My birthday gift to you is these pistachios I'm having. I'm pretending you ate them

On Boxing day :D
GIVE ME BACK MY PISTACHIOS
When I first heard the expression "boxing day" I thought it was something related to fist-fights
@Man_From_India No, fictionally. We're all characters in a comic book anyway
I first heard it in 2004, during the Boxing Day tsunami
Ah sad part
16:50
Wait, it isn't?
I heard it on the context of cricket.
Oh

Basically a version of Jesus that's compatible with Win 10
200 thousand people died then, twice the size of my hometown Noyabrsk
Oh I did remember it. I'm further convinced we're in a comic book
Look at @Jim, I mean. Going around in tights and wearing red shorts above blue pants.
Today we've been having a sweltering weather
It was +25 °C
Just 9 days ago it was -10 °C, and there was deep snow all around
16:54
here during afternoon it was 40 degree Celcius here with high humidity
Horrible
I can barely stand +25 C
The ideal temperature is from +15 to +20
Imagining @Cowp beside a bunch of cacti
I feel bad because I can't complain. The weather here has been awesome.
Well-played, weather.
I've read that there's high inflation in Iran lately
In Russia, president Putin signed a law on "Sovereign Internet" on 1 May.
From November this year, the project will start to separate the Russian segment of the Internet from the world
It will cost some $500 million, and nobody knows what the result will be.
Yeah, great news all around :/
@CowperKettle My prediction is it'll fail miserably
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ All computer science experts say the same.
They say it will take 3 to 4 years to even bring it into some shape, and even then it will fail.
17:01
They plagiarized my opinion
Because there are satellite connections, for instance. You could always set up a dish and duck the firewall.
And with 2 terabyte hard-drives it will be easy peasy to share prohibited stuff anyway.
Even in the USSR people managed to type whole books by hand on typewriters.
The world is becoming a whole, and any attempt to isolate a group is sooner or later doomed to fail IMHO
Now, that's not always a good thing
It has already become apparent that tech giants have prepared themselves since like a decade ago to abuse this to its fullest potential
And. In China, they have set up total control via face recognition, and all people are assigned "social points". If you misbehave, like criticizing the Party, you lose points and the ability to travel abroad, for instance.
@CowperKettle So I've heard. I'll never understand the Chinese
They beat up someone for spoiling a movie. And a woman almost died because of hyperventilation in the middle of the movie.
They're the reason Bay's shitty Transformers movies ever stood a chance.
Then again, they're also the reason Bumblebee was a success.
Basically, seems like the average Chinese person lives in a very different world than I do.
17:20
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ I don't get this. I generally don't get this type of comics.
@CowperKettle Maybe you're looking for too much meaning where there's not enough?
I think there must be many interesting things about China, but a life is too short to learn everything.
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ A, good excuse for me! )))
I'm translating a review on Cerebral folate deficiency and that distracts me a bit too.
Webcomics can be underwhelming. With the illustrations and numerous panels fit into one image, there's not enough room for some verbose philosophical rant
