A: Does "whatever" need a verb?

Man_From_India We will do everything we can to help anybody, whatever his background (is), to go as far as his talents will take him. This sentence is correct, regardless of whether the bracketed verb is included or omitted. But they are different constructions. With is included, it is finite (Open Interro...

@Man_From_India For me, your answer is so technical, dense, and detailed. I'm not motivated to read it because I basically just want to know if it's ok without the verb, and why.
If I want to learn what allvthag other stiff means, related to the terms CGEL gives to the constructions and the differences in meaning, then I need an explanation that is easier for a non-expert to read. So, unfortunately, I (personally) don't like it as an answer.
But I do like you. Unlike certain other... chemists that inhabit this chat room.
@CowperKettle Counting your blessings is a time honored method of improving your outlook.
Gratitude and forgiveness are two underused techniques for improving the world because they’re so darn difficult.
@JimReynolds this is why it’s so important for questions to have multiple correct answers from different perspectives
We do have learners that are very comfortable with the technical terms and want to know how they apply

@ColleenV I've never tried doing that.
I am grateful for all people keeping their gratituge journals, cause I've never did that.
Yay! My first gratefulness record.
Let's call it a day.

Good night.
@JimReynolds allvthag only works in your spaceship, not in English
@JimReynolds It's rather unclear who that might be.
I am grateful for incurring no spelling niggles from MAR today.

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ ... The anticipation is killing me. What did he misspell? Haha.
Word of the day: satisfice

One of the query results in COCA for the above gives a good definition: That is, instead of optimizing every decision, humans "satisfice": they consider a finite amount of information, maybe as few as two or three factors, to reach a good enough approximation of "correct" outcomes.
That's from some law review.
Oh!
Sounds like a useful word actually
I assure you: it is not.
Haha.
It definitely is when you wanna baffle someone in an argument
That's true, yes.
Oh, someone's been studying sociology

When you wanna trip up someone.
The bitcoin spam isn't deleted yet
Actually I found it in a generally entirely unrelated book which does touch upon that topic in a few sentences.
Hmm, Les Miserables?
War and Peace
Jonathan Clayden's Introduction to Organic Chemistry

The Twilight Saga: Legend of a Vampire that Swallowed Fireflies
I'm telling you, that does NOT sound pleasant.

A Brief History of Time
I have nothing against reading such novels.
Inferno.
It's some CS-related textbook.
