6:00 PM
I thought this was a pretty good ds game

@GnomeSlice When the fastest way around a track is to zig zag, I don't see that as a good thing.

@fbueckert Well, yeah, snaking kind of ruins it for most people.

@Krazer I've always enjoyed Advance Wars

@GnomeSlice With good reason, I think.

Have you heard of Battalion Wars?

6:00 PM
Yeah, okay, it's not the best MK game, but it's definitely the one I'm the best at.
@SaintWacko YES.

@GnomeSlice That is such an amazing game

I really wanted to play Battalion wars when I heard about it... never got the chance. =[

@GnomeSlice You should do it
Get a gamecube emulator and download it

user15026
Can someone remind me how to set up multiple Google accounts in Chrome? Because I am struggling with figuring it out XD

@SaintWacko I have a Gamecube.
More than one, in fact.

6:01 PM
@GnomeSlice Then just buy it

Dear lord, what did I miss while I was gone. 333 new messages.

It's got to be cheap by now

@SaintWacko for GC?

@Krazer Yes

The Gamecube is such an underrated system. And the GC controller is still my favourite controller ever.

6:02 PM
I still need to get BW2 for Wii
@GnomeSlice Same here
I still have my Gamecube hooked up

@GnomeSlice Meh

@Powerlord Piracy, religion, etc., etc.

@SaintWacko I can't remember if that was supposed to be better or worse than the original.

@SaintWacko I have to find my Gamecube controller.
And memory card.

I bought a Gamecube only because it came with the Zelda Collection

6:03 PM
@GnomeSlice Naval units sound neat

@GnomeSlice I love that controller.

Zelda, Zelda 2, OoT, MM

The Wind Waker is the only Zelda game I've completed, but I enjoyed it much more than OoT. I got to Ganon in OoT and then stopped for some reason, I forget why.
I think I didn't have enough magic to beat him or something.

I see I have a lot of stuff to look through. <_<

@OrigamiRobot Was it the version that included Master Quest?

user15026
6:05 PM
@GnomeSlice I liked WW except for the whole Tetra/Zelda thing

@Krazer No :(

@OrigamiRobot D:

@AshleyNunn I don't remember that, what?

@Fluttershy Lost Magic is the most important one.

@AshleyNunn It wasn't much different from OoT with the Sheik/Zelda thing.

user15026
6:05 PM
@Fluttershy I know, and I didn't like that either

KORG DS-10 is a music creation program for the Nintendo DS that emulates the Korg MS range of synthesizers. Frequently people refer to the Korg MS-10 but this is a single oscillator monosynth. The DS-10 adds sync which the MS-20 is lacking. It was released on July 24, 2008 in Japan, October 10, 2008 in Europe, and November 4, 2008 in the United States. A newer, DSi compatible version, entitled KORG DS-10 Plus, was released in Japan on September 17, 2009 and in the United States on February 16, 2010. It doubles the number of synth and drum machines. It also adds some minor new features fo...

user15026
I am such a pickypants

I never knew that was supposed to fool you. I always thought Sheik was a woman.

Metroid Prime Hunters is a first-person shooter and adventure game for the Nintendo DS handheld video game console. It was developed by American video game developers Nintendo Software Technology, and was released by Nintendo in North America in March 2006, in Europe and Australia in May 2006, and in Japan in June 2006. When the Nintendo DS launched in 2004, the console included an unrated early demo of Metroid Prime Hunters, titled Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt, in most regions. At the beginning of the game, the governing body of the galaxy, the Galactic Federation, asks bounty hunte...
Metroid Prime Pinball is a pinball video game themed after the Metroid series. The game uses the graphical style and various story elements from Metroid Prime. It was developed by Fuse Games for the Nintendo DS handheld game console, and released by Nintendo in North America and Australia in 2005, in Japan in 2006, and in Europe in 2007. Metroid Prime Pinball uses the basic mechanics of pinball, along with typical pinball items. New mechanics are introduced, such as wall jumping and the ability to fire weapons. The Nintendo DS's touchscreen can be nudged with a finger to alter the pinball'...

@GnomeSlice Bleh. First Person shooter on a handheld?

6:06 PM
Also, @fbueckert, going back to earlier when you commented on Cloud Atlas being 3 hours long... You should still watch it! It really is one of the best movies I've ever seen.

user15026
@OrigamiRobot I remember being mindblown at first, but I was like....youngish

My feet. They ache.

@fbueckert It was actually decent.

@fbueckert It works surprisingly well. It's much more akin to playing with a mouse than with a controller.

user15026
@Fluttershy Are the book and movie equally good?

6:06 PM
@Fluttershy Hmm. I may have to look it up.

Because of the touch screen.
@OrigamiRobot There were so many awesome bugs in the multiplayer levels too.

@GnomeSlice That's a good game.

@OrigamiRobot I tried it. Didn't like it.

@GnomeSlice I only had the demo cart.

also yay for having 27,500 reps exactly without trying (revenge upvote in 3, 2, 1...)

6:07 PM
@AshleyNunn I haven't finished the book, but it may be the best book I've ever read, so.... Likely.

@GnomeSlice Wait, like what? I never noticed any.

There was the one you could take Sylux and fly around the outside edge of the map (you weren't supposed to), and then you could run around the other half of the map with no textures at all (which made navigating hard). And all the other players could see of you was a shadow.
@Ullallulloo wat
@Ullallulloo You could go inside the walls in almost every level, often in multiple places.
And shoot out through the walls.

@GnomeSlice O_o

@GnomeSlice I love escaping from games like that

It was really dirty.
@Ullallulloo Seriously?

6:08 PM
I've played that multiplayer for hours, and never noticed that.

@Ullallulloo did you never play it online?

@fbueckert If you decide to give it a shot, let me know. I am now anxious to hear your opinion of it. >_>

@GnomeSlice Not online, just local.

After a while, basically every game you played would have someone doing it.

@Fluttershy My opinion should not be worth much. :P

6:09 PM
@Ullallulloo Oh.

DS online only works with WEP, which we never wanted to do.

@Ullallulloo Do you still have it?

@GnomeSlice Yeah.

user15026
Once I get my ereader again, I plan to read Cloud Atlas, @fluttershy, because you have made it sound so awesome

@Ullallulloo We should play some time. I probably can't remember how to do most of them, though.

6:09 PM
@Ullallulloo Oh, yeah, don't get me started on that.

@Ullallulloo And dumbly, the games don't just pass it on to the DS OS, but instead the WiFi stack is built into the game.

I had my router set to WPA (Wii can handle that much)

@fbueckert Still. Horribly underrated, deserving of praise. Hollywood needs to make more movies like it, so it needs all the support it can get.

I remember you could go into at least two corners in the 'combat hall' level, and you could get inside the central pillar somehow...

@AshleyNunn Yayyy! =3

6:10 PM
@AshleyNunn Did you watch it?

But the DS can only take WEP, so @TrentHawkins got one of those USB WiFi things for his DS.
FUBAR'd my home network something fierce.

user15026
@SaintWacko I haven't, no, but I plan to eventually

The only games I've lost rid of were where I physically lost them or I loaned to to a friend, and then they moved to a different state without giving them back.

@Fluttershy I assume you've played Trauma Center and Elite Beat Agents?

It just seems really stupid when the DSi and 3DS support WPA2 that playing DS games on them is still restricted to WEP.

6:11 PM
Those are must plays.

One of these days, I'll use my router to set up a WEP subnetwork and lock it down to one MAC address.

@Powerlord I felt much disappointment when I tried to go online with DS games in my 3DS.

@Ullallulloo yeah I hate that too
half the people I know with DSes ca'nt play online because of no WPA 2

and hope noone nearby knows how to spoof MACs.

user15026
@OrigamiRobot Agreed!

6:13 PM
@AshleyNunn I got this "game" as a joke, but I found it to be surpisingly good.

@OrigamiRobot I also agree!
If you have a Wii, the later Trauma Centers are also good.

user15026
@Krazer I often wondered if it was any good or not

Right now, I'm replaying FF V.

@fbueckert The original DS game was awesome.

That one had multiple controller support, no?

6:15 PM
I borrowed it from a friend and completed it. It was sweet.

@AshleyNunn It was a lot better than I expected, the recipes are pretty good and easy to follow

user15026
@Krazer That's pretty cool :)

I liked the Kingdom Heart DS games.

I could demolish every song in EBA except Jumpin Jack Flash on the hardest difficulty.

6:16 PM
@GnomeSlice You had me hoping for a moment that he'd posted something new.

Q: How players (gamers) are defined?

Michel AyresI see definitions of what a Pro gamer is or what a Noob is, like in this answer. where the OP says "Why do you think some players are pros and others are noob?" What are the names of those "ranks"? Pro, Casual, Noob... and what define what's the "Rank" of a player?

@MichelAyres Crap, that's broad.

Some help to improve this question would be appreciated =)
@fbueckert ?

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor, known in Japan as , is a role-playing game for the Nintendo DS. It was released in Japan on January 15, 2009, and was released in North America on June 23, 2009. Its character designs are handled by Suzuhito Yasuda. An enhanced port for the Nintendo 3DS (titled Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked) was developed and was released in August 2011. The game's main theme song is "Reset" performed by Aya Ishihara and the 3DS version's main theme song is "Soul Survive" performed by Junko Minagawa, who also voiced Haru in the Japanese version of Devil ...

@MichelAyres It's not something you can really definitively define.

6:17 PM
@badp Have you heard of Game Grumps?

@fbueckert Do you think? I was thinking more a list answer should solve this

@MichelAyres Every person will have their own opinions about who is and isn't a noob.

It's not cartoons, but it's Egoraptor and Jontron playing games together, and it is hilarious.

And the ranks, too.

@GnomeSlice Yeah, it's egoraptor going from making awesome videos to mediocre let's plays.

6:18 PM
@badp I think he's still doing them.

@fbueckert I'm thinking this question is like this one on the programmers programmers.stackexchange.com/questions/14914/…

@badp what's the most recent egoraptor cartoon you've seen?

@MichelAyres You should remember that we're different sites; what's acceptable on one may not be acceptable on another.
The programmer's one can at least have somewhat of a definition, based on progression models and whatnot.

user15026
@MichelAyres What works here and what works there is vastly different.

@GnomeSlice Hey I'm Grump.

6:19 PM
@GnomeSlice I've seen all 3 sequelitis videos. I don't care much about the rest :/

PlayStation PortableiOS17 January 2010 (iPad) |genre=Action-adventure, open world |modes= |ratings= |platforms=Nintendo DSPlayStation PortableiOS |media=Nintendo DS Game Card, UMD, download |requirements= |input=Touchscreen, microphone }} Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is a video game for Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, developed by Rockstar Leeds in conjunction with Rockstar North. @OrigamiRobot I haven't played EBA, but have played Trauma Center.

@fbueckert I know. There is one here on Arqade that talk about something similar too

@badp All three what?

@Fluttershy GO PLAY EBA RIGHT NOW OR YOU WILL BURN IN HELL FOREVER

6:19 PM
There's no way to really define ranks when it comes to gaming.

ahem Sorry

You haven't seen any of the Awesome videos, and you like Egoraptor? whaaat

@MichelAyres Eh? Link?
@Fluttershy Advice: Buy a screen protector before you do.

user15026
@fbueckert SO true.

I scratched the living hell out of my DSLite when I played that.

6:20 PM
@fbueckert What? You must be really intense.
My screen is fine.

@fbueckert one that talk about ventrilo, team speaker, skype and others, talking about what's the best

@OrigamiRobot I went through it on every difficulty.

I really need to start writing something for this school thing

@fbueckert So did I. Multiple times.

user15026
@fbueckert It is how I killed the screen on my original DS

6:21 PM
@fbueckert and, I think this is a great contribution to the ARQADE, of-course, with a good answer =)

@MichelAyres There's good subjective, where you can point at objective criteria as a basis, and bad subjective, where there is no way to have objective criteria.
@OrigamiRobot Then you must have a stupid light touch.

@fbueckert Exact! and my question is a good subjective.

user15026
@MichelAyres I am not so sure.

@fbueckert not sure why the rage o.O
@AshleyNunn why?

GUYS, Preschtale is back on sale for a minimum price of nothing. You should check it out, it's amazing.

6:22 PM
@MichelAyres I feel differently. I don't think there is objective criteria you can point to in order to define levels of gamer.

user15026
@MichelAyres It is way too broad, and undefinable. How I see myself as a hardcore gamer is not going to be how someone else sees me.

@fbueckert NO U

@MichelAyres If you want to get the 'peer pressure' badge, I'd delete it. I suspect many people will end up downvoting it though

@AshleyNunn Define yourself as a hardcore player...

Bleh, I haven't had earbuds in in a long time

user15026
6:24 PM
@MichelAyres ? What I am saying is is that likely no one here will think of me the same way I do, based on the games I play, etc - there is no way to define these things.

@kalina going to delete it, for the moment. but... I still think that is a great question that may be really good for the Arqade

@MichelAyres Everybody in this channel is a casual gamer - nobody here plays games for as many hours per week as I do and therefore they're all casuals.

Someone just bought my album for $4!

I don't care how good they are at their respective games, they don't play as much, so they're casuals

@AshleyNunn agree, but this is the point of the "good subjective", No?

6:26 PM
You're not a professional unless you get paid to do it.

@kalina I do, probably. Well, not any more, with school.

@MichelAyres no, you need more for good subjective

@OrigamiRobot I don't think many MOBA players would agree with that!

user15026
@MichelAyres No.

and as far as MOBA players are concerned, people who don't play MOBAs are all noobs

6:26 PM
@OrigamiRobot That's amateur/professional, not casual/hardcore.

@kalina Most MOBA players are cavemen. Or cavewomen.

As far as WoW players are concerned, people who play bad and stand in fire are noobs

@OrigamiRobot What about getting paid to write about doing it?

@murgatroid99 What do I need?

As far as CS players are concerned people who can't aim are noobs

6:27 PM
@AshleyNunn why?

@RonanForman I didn't say anything of the sort.

As far as I'm concerned, people who are new at the game are noobs

user15026
@MichelAyres Reread the Good Subjective, Bad Subjective post

multiple different definitions of noob

@kalina pro != professional

6:27 PM
@GnomeSlice I am pro at all games I play, you are all scrubs

@kalina thanks for the badge tip =)

WAIT - what is a 'scrub'? :p
it's certainly not a noob!

@kalina What we are, apparently.

@kalina I'm MOBA player, and I don't consider myself pro.

@GnomeSlice Pro is short for professional.

6:28 PM
and they're definitively not pro

ME PRO MUCH

polishes his knife N00bs are just backstab magnets.

ronnie's pro, people.

@Fluttershy no I was saying in response to "pros are people who get paid"

@Fluttershy I'M TELLING @FAE

6:28 PM
@fbueckert I know that. I was making a witty commentary on gamers.

we need Decency in here for this conversation

We can only HOPE to ever be as pro as him.

he will demonstrate my point perfectly

@OrigamiRobot Man, that won't even work. <_<

@MichelAyres you would probably want to ask for a comparison based on a well defined and specific criteria that you specify

6:28 PM
Okay, starting on Spirit Tracks

Most so-called (self-proclaimed) 'pro gamers' are not 'professional gamers'.

@AshleyNunn Sidenote: I find Pyraplex much less complex than Mega Mall Story.

user15026
@fbueckert Really?

user15026
@MichelAyres Yep.

6:29 PM
HELP!
Spice Girls just popped into my head

@murgatroid99 Hmmm thanks, will do a better question based on this info =)

@AshleyNunn Yeah. Trade is a nice addition, but it replaced the investment ability.

@MichelAyres I'm not really sure if that would be enough either. You should read the blog post and do what it says

@AshleyNunn I read that almost every time I make a question =P (specially one that is intended to be a "good subjective" xD)

@Fluttershy Yes it will.

6:31 PM
Currently, my favorite Kairosoft games are Grand Prix Story, and Pocket Clothier.

@kalina I read "pooped"

user15026
@fbueckert I haven't played Grand Prix Story - should I pick it up?

@OrigamiRobot Trust me. It won't.

@AshleyNunn Get any farther in 999 or still moving?

Going to make some studies on that question =) brb

6:34 PM
@Fluttershy Wait, you mean the ping?

user15026
@Powerlord 5 days. Still don't know where the DS is. Suspect I may have packed it. Once I get myself sorted, I am going to play the crap out of it because it fascinates me

@OrigamiRobot No. I mean telling her will not do anything but make her pretend to be mad at me. =P

Apparently Adobe CS2 products can be downloaded directly from Adobe's servers and include a valid license key.

user15026
@Powerlord yep. Found that out in my Visual Rhetoric class, because the prof recommended we download it to use it for the classwork we are doing

user15026
6:37 PM
@Powerlord Thanks for the link - it means I don't have to find it when I am home on my desktop!

@Powerlord It's not legal, though

@MadScientist Isn't it? It's being served in a public location from Adobe's own servers.

@Fluttershy What did you think was the goal?

@Powerlord It's meant for users that already own the programs. The files and key are valid, but you don't get a license

@AshleyNunn I enjoyed it quite a bit.

6:40 PM
@MadScientist why does it come with a serial then?

The legality is probably rather complicated, but it is not meant as a free giveaway by Adobe

@MadScientist That's not the message that the Internet is taking.

@MadScientist At any rate, they only are bound to gain from distributing their software for free. Kind of like a gateway drug.
I mean, people are pirating their stuff left and right. Might as well decide that if people are going to grab your software for free they'll grab what you offer on your conditions or something.

And if they don't restrict it behind a login, well, that's their own fault.

user15026
@MadScientist It isn't meant that way, but it does function that way, no?

6:42 PM
Kind of like Winzip works.

I personally wouldn't worry too much, Adobe is not making it really clear that this is only for existing customers, but I'm not a laywer, so what do I know

The only real problem in my eyes is that Adobe stuff comes with custom fonts and the foundries might not be all too happy about their fonts being spread about for $0.

@MichelAyres Sorry you got hammered for it, dude. :)

@OrigamiRobot Wait, you want her to pretend to be mad at me?

@Fluttershy Why not?

6:45 PM
@badp That's an Adobe problem, not a user problem.

user15026
I dyed my hair blue last night and every time I touch it it makes my fingers blue, so now my white keyboard is turning blue because of my blue fingertips

@AshleyNunn Oops

ARGH, STEAM, STOP PUTTING GAMES FROM MY THING ON SALE

user15026
6:46 PM
@Powerlord It amuses me, mostly, because I thought there was something wrong with my eyes because it turned light blue so slowly

@GnomeSlice I don't really classify that as a game.
It's more of a basic physics simulator.

@fbueckert Okay?

@GnomeSlice Okay, indeed.

@fbueckert I meant 'okay, so what?'

@GnomeSlice So I don't see it as worth purchasing.

6:49 PM
@fbueckert Things that aren't games aren't worth purchasing?

@fbueckert KSP is a physics simulator

More to the point, "okay, so?"

heh
I'm not too surprised to see Spec Ops the line being sold at €5

user15026
@agent86 I love this I love this I do. XD (Also, was I really gone long enough to not get a ping?)

considered that just the day before yesterday Amazon sold it for $2.5

6:50 PM
@SaintWacko KSP is a hilarious (and stupidly detailed) physics simulator.

@fbueckert Right

I really enjoyed the original Solar.
I think Solar 2 adds more gameplay elements too.

I'd love it if KSP added in an asteroid belt, and a proper resource system.

@fbueckert Yeah, asteroid mining would be awesome
especially if you could place engines on asteroids and move them
try to put one in orbit without hitting the surface :D

@SaintWacko Of course, they'd have to first add the ability to automate ships.

user15026
6:54 PM
@fbueckert I was on the bus the other night, and there was a group of guys discussing KSP, which was awesome

@fbueckert Yeah

@SaintWacko Terrain Deformation would be sweet.

@GnomeSlice And actual people living on the surface

@fbueckert I think you can. You can program 'maneuvers' anyway, but I have no idea how to.

And having to actually retrieve capsules that touch down

6:54 PM
@SaintWacko Read any of John Ringo's Troy Rising books?

@SaintWacko That would take a billion years to model, implement, and take up a ton of memory.

@GnomeSlice You can PLAN maneuvers.

@fbueckert It sounds familiar
@GnomeSlice Dwarf Fortress

The ship won't make the maneuver without you.

And I don't necessarily mean individual people, but cities on the surface

6:55 PM
@SaintWacko Isn't that randomly generated? I guess they could do that too, but you wouldn't be able to do cities and shit then.

@SaintWacko Essentially, Earth gets bootstrapped into an advanced space age to defend themselves against aliens.

@SaintWacko That's what I was talking about.
@fbueckert Earth: Final Conflict? :P

And the guy who makes it all happen builds asteroid bases by essentially lensing sunlight into giant laser beams.

@GnomeSlice It's randomly generated at the beginning, but the world evolves on its own, into cities and roads and everything

He cores asteroids, plugs them with water, then heats them to boiling, producing (roughly) round bases.
With walls a few kilometers thick.

6:57 PM
@fbueckert Yep, you lase the asteroids, boil the centers so they expand into a big bubble of material
@fbueckert I'll have to read them
I like it when authors use hard science

Q: Which hybrid ammunitions are best under which circumstances?

kalinaI have just got myself a nice new ship and fitted it with some 150mm Prototype Gauss Guns which use hybrid ammunitions. There are a variety of hybrid ammunitions in game which all appear to do varying quantities of different types of damage. I mainly like engaging my enemies at maximum range, so...
