@kalina Pro gamer = earning compensation for skill at playing the game. Casual gamer = people who play games not built primarily for competitive play. I make a dichotomy between casual and competitive players that's not necessarily all-encompassing, but it works well enough. I've found there aren't very many people in between- usually just friends of competitive players.

@kalina And then of course I have my own definition for what constitutes a competitive game, just to make sure that I have plenty of room to alienate and condescend people. ;)

I'd say overall, "casual gamer" tends to have a different connotation in the gaming world. Like, typically people who just play Popcap games, iPad games, etc. I.e., my mom

Though in the context of something like LoL, that definition of "casual" makes no sense.

I would, however, love to watch my mom try to play LoL.

@kalina That was me from BC-Wrath. I cut it back to 4-8 for the first few months of cataclysm, and quit after killing Sinestra very early on (as far as any Sinestra kill was 'early')
