@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ how about best ipad editor?

you know, the thing you edit your ipad with?

I regularly use vim on my android.

@ANerd-I I'd have picked something better, but I was in a hurry to choose a quasi-insult before the next person came along :P

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ vim is best editor. Coda is best coding app

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ O_O

@Sp3000 I do need better ideas though, you're actually right.

Convince me. Why should I use neovim?

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ idk. It does cool stuff like jquer

I mean voluntary rickroll != true rickroll

@Sp3000 What does *T do in the argument list? (clearly I need to learn more python)

Splat, e.g. f(*[1,2]) == f(1,2)
That's for the second *T, the first *T collects the remaining arguments in a tuple

e.g. f=lambda x,*T then f(1,2,3,4) makes x = 1, T = (2,3,4)

Is there a difference in emotion of "._." vs ".-."?

Yes. The first is "no emotion" and the second is "embarrassed"

Yes, ._. is more of a resigned expression while .-. can mean anything and can be used as a response when there is nothing better to say

4:13 AM
The second one has a unibrow

Q: Deep learning Fizzbuzz

HookedInspired by the job-interview with Joel Grus, the goal of this challenge is to write a tensorflow (or other deep/machine learning) program that learns Fizzbuzz and correctly prints out the answers to the positive integers less than 1000. You can assume there are files named train.csv and test.c...

try using really weird unicode chars if you want squares

@Downgoat I mean like constant-width but as wide as they are tall with all the normal chars, so they can form a square grid (assuming the text editor has no line spacing)

@ArtOfCode as a mod on Open Source.SE, do you know if we can use the Never Gonna Give You Up on Cheddar website without breaking copyright or whatever

Quickie poll: if given a choice of 1 senior coder or 5 coder interns, what would you choose?

Depends on the problem

@zyabin101 depends on how much time you'll need them
if you select good interns, on short terms it is excellent. On long terms, senior wins
(except if you intend to hire them later)

@sp3000 that is not code golf

\o/ Chat ees ded!
@LeakyNun good, now add this answer to the parent question's answer list.
You do have the 1k edit immediately privilege, don't you?

1:05 PM
@LeakyNun Also, it could be interesting to explain that it can't be done with less symbole as demonstrated on a recent question

That's not exactly right, the question just showed that you can't just drop ! from the set !+[]()
I do wonder if there's another set of 5 chars that could be usable instead, but it could be hard.

@Sp3000 Well, () can't be removed because of function calls, and [] can't because of indexing/using them as values
+ is need to cast to number and get numbers

@MarsUltor Yep, that's why they wanted to know if ! was mandatory to make this language works, looks like it is.

@zyabin101 Done.

+ is also for string concat, but I mean that's just with this method - is there no other operator that could, say, result in ints/strings in the same way as +?

1:19 PM
@LeakyNun we will have to wait the 1517th upvote until we see anything useful in JSFuck ^^
@Sp3000 hum, that would mean we still end up with 6 operators, right?

@LeakyNun add something to the showcase, even a single falsy value >_>

Adding

Hmm shrugs
Side note: with 6 operators, <+[]() would probably have been more useful since code doesn't need to be as long :P
... hmm actually not quite true, kinda depends on what the target is

@Sp3000 Provide examples.

@Katenkyo What does this mean?

1:22 PM
@Sp3000 no
@LeakyNun It means the shortest useful JSFuck program (Hello World maybe?) is 1517 bytes long

alright

So, should I create a room for brainstorming on JSF***<?
The simplest array is [], obviously.
0 is +[].
Now, the interesting becomes available.

@MarsUltor JSFuck's hello world is actually 6277 bytes long....

[]<[] is false.
3 more...

1:27 PM
The thing is < can do what ! can do, but takes more bytes. However, < can also do << so it's only really useful for getting big numbers.

I think someone posted it in TNB a while back, I must not have watched the whole thing b/c I recall seeing the thumbnail before

(which you rarely need in JSF, unfortunately)

@zyabin101 if you can get string.concat and add without the +, it may be possible with the set []()<! but that's still 6 characters
@Sp3000 bing numbers allows to grab the + while it does scientific annotations

@zyabin101 []<++[[]][+[]] is true

@MarsUltor Good!
+[]<++[[]][+[]] is still true, not 1...

1:28 PM
You can just do []<[+[]] for true

@Sp3000 Good!

@zyabin101 repeatingly adding true will give you numbers, so no need for 1

+[]<[+[]] is false.

[]<[]

+([]<[+[]]) is 1.
@Sp3000 False >_>

1:30 PM
@MarsUltor what notation is that? JSF, BF or what?

@BaldBantha An alternative version of JSF

@MarsUltor where can I find that at?

@BaldBantha JSF***<.

@BaldBantha JSF is JS

It uses +<()[], with < instead of !.

1:31 PM
@BaldBantha we are currently trying to find a new set for JSFuck that will allow you to only use 5 chars

You may tack on +([]<[+[]]) forever, to create numbers.

that may not be the shortest way

+([]<[+[]])
+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])
+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])
+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])
+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])
+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])
+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])
+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])
+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])+([]<[+[]])
Pointless set of numbers from 1 to 16.

++[+([]<[+[]])][+[]] for 2 is smaller
+([]<[+[]])
++[+([]<[+[]])][+[]]
++[++[+([]<[+[]])][+[]]][+[]]
++[++[++[+([]<[+[]])][+[]]][+[]]][+[]]
++[++[++[++[+([]<[+[]])][+[]]][+[]]][+[]]][+[]]
++[++[++[++[++[+([]<[+[]])][+[]]][+[]]][+[]]][+[]]][+[]]
...
(++[1][0])

also this is false:

@zyabin101 Interesting ... seems to work there.

ANSI C, ISO C and Standard C refer to the successive standards for the C programming language published by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Historically, the names referred specifically to the original and best-supported version of the standard (known as C89 or C90). Software developers writing in C are encouraged to conform to the standards, as doing so aids portability between compilers. == History and outlook == The first standard for C was published by ANSI. @Dennis Send me a ping when you get here

@Sherlock9 I'm here.

I'm not very fond of skipping rows
Also, I'm not sure what the purpose of the zero padding is when it's at the end of the array

@Sherlock9 What are you wanting to do? :3

@zyabin101 Dennis and I are discussing my sevens challenge

2:22 PM
@Sherlock9 Some languages can only deal with rectangular multidimensional arrays. In J/APL, your array gets zero-padded automatically when it's not rectangular.

@Dennis Ah, fair enough. And as for skipping empty arrays?

exeunt

Goodnight zyabin

@Sherlock9 Uhh...
17:25 here.

Was that not supposed to mean, I'm leaving?

2:25 PM
@Sherlock9 Ah.

...still don't get it.

@zyabin101 So what did you mean by "exeunt"?

@zyabin101 \o/ congrats!

@Sherlock9 APL and Jelly (and J too, possibly) have built-ins to group the indices of an array by their values, which saves quite a few bytes. You had already said no for Jelly (which would skip empty arrays entirely, leaving no indication whatsoever which arrays are empty), but I had hope APL's built-in (which shows the "names" of the players before their numbers, indicating which arrays are empty and which are not) would be good enough.
It's OK if I can't use the built-ins, but I just had to ask. It would save 11 bytes in the APL solution.

@zyabin101 ?likk pls

2:36 PM
@Sherlock9 I was replying to PhiNotPi's (non existent right now) message "enter PhiNotPi".

@Dennis Well, now I'm conflicted. I don't like the idea itself but I would like to see a decent attempt to beat the Pyth solution
@zyabin101 Ah, fair enough
