@MartinBüttner .........what happens upon a second transformation?

@feersum roflamo

@El'endiaStarman good question
it's going to look messy though because the images of the left half and right half will overlap. I'll try anyway

Any chance you can use color and transparency?

Q: alternative software

201044There is a website called 'alternatives to' ( or something like that) where one can list a software and it will indicate a lot of possible alternatives , some free. Q: The XOROR sequence

Cᴏɴᴏʀ O'BʀɪᴇɴCellular Automata are truly fascinating. The ones that are usually talked about are the binary ones, i.e., the ones representable by a number. However, those, in my opinion, have been done to death. Ternary CAs are more interesting, but we have all of ASCII to consider! What fun could that be! I...

I wish I had the time to play MC with y'all, cause it sounds fun

I suppose there are references to non-profits
it should be profitable, bankrupt or otherwise

Nonprofits? I work for one of those. I did in my previous job as well.

There's definitely a grey area between profitable and bankrupt, not just non-profits. They're usually called failing, I think.
I think Quizno's is many many millions in debt right now, for instance, but hasn't declared bankruptcy :P
I liked Quizno's and all, but the business model could have used some work...

Oops, I guess I was wrong. They did declare bankruptcy in 2014. It looks like they were around $900M in debt at the peak.

@phase Problem 12 looks like it'd be a good PPCG challenge.

tac
for sandwiches!

10:39 PM
They have some killer broccoli soup, I'll give em that.
But for stuff like that I can go other places.

Problem 13 too. It'd be phrased like this: decompose an integer's binary representation into strings of alternating 1s and 0s.

It'd be a good addition to the design-a-language-for-2D-pattern-matching challenge set.
The last one, problem 20, is essentially "write a LISP parser". :P

@El'endiaStarman in assembly, pls
@El'endiaStarman parsers are for nerds, just tokenise it into bytecode and write a runtime for that instead

@flawr or write a regex that matches those

@LegionMammal978 why { expression;} | cmd and not `expression` | cmd ?

tac explodes

But how would you actually write such a regex?

It had crooked teeth so it needed braces

@flawr rly? you've never seen the s/text/replacement thing here before?

tac
In theoretical computer science and formal language theory, a regular expression (sometimes called a rational expression) is a sequence of characters that define a search pattern, mainly for use in pattern matching with strings, or string matching, i.e. "find and replace"-like operations. The concept arose in the 1950s, when the American mathematician Stephen Kleene formalized the description of a regular language, and came into common use with the Unix text processing utilities ed, an editor, and grep, a filter. In modern usage, "regular expressions" are often distinguished from the derived, but...

11:44 PM
@LegionMammal978 How did you search?

lol

@Quill I've seen it tons of times but never get it.

@flawr Downloaded a few over time

I mean how did you search within the lists?

tac
@flawr s/a/b/g means substitute a with b, Globally

11:45 PM
s/a/b/s means substitute a with be, selectively
