metasmoke now checks folks' moderator status every day right before the spam wave (i.e. quite a few hours after folks get their diamonds from elections) and will flat-out refuse to flag something with a diamond account.
2.4.0 :010 > User.find_by_username("Undo").spam_flag(Post.where(:site_id => 1).last)
  User Load (0.4ms)  SELECT  `users`.* FROM `users` WHERE `users`.`username` = 'Undo' LIMIT 1
  Post Load (0.1ms)  SELECT  `posts`.* FROM `posts` WHERE `posts`.`site_id` = 1 ORDER BY `posts`.`id` DESC LIMIT 1
RuntimeError: User is a moderator on this site; not flagging

Nice

Somehow I managed to break login on my local machine with that
I have no idea how

that might not be quite so desirable

Works at HEAD~2, not at HEAD~1. Seems to work in prod fine, though

@Undo nice

yep, Devise doesn't like the serialize statement, but only on local. Bizarre.
maybe it's trying to tell me that I really should do this the right way

Hiya. Some guy is spamming an answer (15x so far) on SO, apparently affiliated with the lib he promotes.

Is stuff like that in the scope of sd?

maybe, do you have a link to one of his posts?
or a link to his account?

All relevant links are reported by Guttenberg in SOBotics.

3:19 AM
@BaummitAugen Guy actually has rep on so.se and the lib he is promoting does not appear to be malicious ... imo maybe have a mod comment on each of his posts saying that he needs to claim affiliation and provide more information than he currently is

@CaffeineAddiction So my custom flag is enough?

atm its pretty much "Not an Answer" which is kinda outside of the scope of SD ... though SD does pick up not an answer posts alot

Alright. Thanks for the feedback.

@BaummitAugen np

3:23 AM
@BaummitAugen what makes you think he's affiliated? FWIW, I've heard of Conda before, which means it's probably not malicious at least, and I can't find anything at a glance linking him with it.

@ArtOfCode he posted the same copy and paste link to that lib like 7 times ... and its his last 7 most recent answers

@CaffeineAddiction aye, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's affiliated. People do dumb things, especially on SO.

so either he found this new lib and did a search of SO to spread the good news ... or he has an agenda

Also, I'm poking at that meta draft - and making it markdown, just FYI

It has references to various API and Userscripts

curious side effect of 3 flags: Now sometimes stuff that already has 2-3 flags (like some stuff on SO) when we report it gets the nuke before one of us can flag it, causing an influx in manual feedback again
:p

Markdown version of the meta draft, with some additional copy edits:
Notable changes:

- Eliminated some things that were repeated over and over again repeatedly, repeated. Repeat.
- Added more links to things

@Andy May want to change "We will cast up to three flags" -> "Our system will automatically cast up to 3 spam flags"
Otherwise looks good imo

@Andy is that the same as the google doc, but in markdown? If not, it may be worth updating the doc to the gist

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Bad keyword in body, bad keyword in title, link following arrow in body, pattern-matching website in body: Sonix Garcinia Losing weight by QuinnTuck on graphicdesign.SE

@angussidney There are some differences. I combined a few paragraphs/sentences that were redundant and spelled "organization" like a civilized person ;)

@Andy Also may want to add a paragraph with stats, like we caught X true positives yet, Y automatic spam flags yet, Z users trusted us with the ability to cast flags in their name, etc.

@SmokeDetector k

@ArtOfCode I am conflicted on that. They are good to have, but having them makes the post longer and doesn't really explain the system that much.

also, minor things: "web dash board" -> "web dashboard"; "your safety checks" -> "our safety checks" (consistency); "finish of" -> "finish off"

5:45 AM
That's why I combined all of that into the What is this? section
@Magisch I'm all for more stats. I copy pasted what's in the google doc for those. If you want more, just let me know what to add

Stat: those 3000 flags were cast across 22 users' accounts

@ArtOfCode ✓, ✓, ✓

@Andy I think "Over the years, Smoke Detector caught X (some 40k) true spam positives, and Y users have contributed to the project. Presently, 22 users trust us to cast spam flags in their name, and we have cast $Z automatic spam flags over the past $time"

@Magisch the last sentence is already there, bar the 22 users

depends if you're meta-gaming meta or not

well, aren't we?

When it's posted, the room needs to either coordinate responses, so we don't all jump on users to answer them or designate a handful of people to be the "spokes people" (again, so we don't jump all over users)
@ArtOfCode We're not going for a high score? :)

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Bad keyword in body, bad keyword in title, pattern-matching website in body: DermaFolia you get the most expansive results possible at a prompt cost. by user86456 on graphicdesign.SE

We should probably coordinate this at a time of high meta activity and then have people cover for a while to respond to inquiries.

@Andy well I can't deny it would be nice :)

If we're doing this to get ahead of the discussion, we may as well go all out

I've incorporated the changes mentioned above in the gist
@Magisch *without tripping on each other

sure
Next monday would probably be a good idea tbh

I'm sorta tempted to have spokespeople because that removes the need for co-ordination, but it does also prevent a bunch of good people weighing in.

Monday means whole week of peak SE activity ahead, and as far away as possible from the weekend

5:55 AM
wow okay, we really are metagaming this thing

lol, go big or go home

the goal is to get as many people as possible to know, right?

I dont know, I think most of us have seen the progress this tool has been making over the months ... and we all want it to succeed

that would be nice

@ArtOfCode I like the idea of spokespeople, if only to keep everything simple. Those people quickly get noticed in the meta thread so it's easy to follow who's involved and determine "answers from the devs" vs. "I once programmed in python, why don't you use this instead?!" type answers

5:58 AM
isnt it already written in python?

So who'd spokespeople be
The admins?

@Andy but I programmed a really complicated thing in Python, so you should definitely listen to me

@CaffeineAddiction Yes, it is. But I'm saying that someone else - not related to the project - adds their two cents on how it should work
