Those that survive are able to continue (and even grow) in future years because you have fewer people to feed.

Well, I had a few cycles of growth for around 5 years, then a sharp dip one year where I lose around 85% of the new people in one year, putting me only barely ahead.

I end up taking a bunch of people off of other things to put them on food so I don't have everyone die.

But the result is a lack of non-food supplies.

At least it's better now that I don't have people going around a river to harvest stuff because I forgot to build a bridge.

Rule of thumb for me: 50% of people go to food production. The reminder to other jobs. When it's clear that the current set up results in a stable situation for a few years, new food production + houses nearby get build, timed/paused so that they finish about the same time in winter, bumping up food production to 75%-80% of the population. Then forestry, then other industry as needed.

Disasters, famines and whatnot means that I "desert" parts of the village (by setting the houses to be destroyed, then pausing the destruction), and re-enable it only after the population is stable again.

Q: Changing Pokemon to Pokémon

Many of my posts about Pokemon have been edited. Is changing Pokemon to Pokémon really something best for this exchange? It seems to make it harder for Googlers to find the answers to their questions organically.

Looking through Wikipedia, from the languages with a Latin-derived alphabet, only Latvian and Azerbaijani use "Pokemon" without the accent. Well, and Esperanto, but I don't think there's a localised version in that language.

At least is how I judge.

I disagree to some extent with suggesting an edit to fix one typo. If it doesn't detract from the post in a meaningful way, let the OP or a 2ker fix it. We reward suggested edits with rep if they make a meaningful contribution, or clean up a post that needs cleaning. @Michel That's up to you. There's no hard and fast rules about what is "Too Minor." If you feel an edit is too minor, then reject it. If you think it's not too minor, approve it. The whole reason we require two votes for an edit to be rejected or improved is because it's very subjective. Additionally, a few posts with small changes getting improved really isn't a big deal, and hardly something to stress over. If a user is making mass floods of suggested edits then that's a problem.

on Arqade, during cleanups, I've done 200 edits in a day and people have complained about destroying the front page, but I'd rather destroy the front page once than half destroying it multiple days in a row

on Movies & TV, they get so few questions a day that even 5 edits starts messing up the front page, so I always do mass bulk editing there

If you edit 20 questions which are only a couple hours old then it's not a big deal since they're all on the front page anyways, and they're not covering up more recent questions. Editing 20 questions from a year ago is a problem since they're crowding up the front page with old questions.
