@ӍѲꝆΛҐӍΛПҒЦꝆ is PPCG better than Code Review?

@WotADong I agree. I was raised as a Bahá'í and taught that "The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens." I just don't think walls and uncompassionate rulers are the path to that.

@ӍѲꝆΛҐӍΛПҒЦꝆ Do you know how juic avocad?

@ӍѲꝆΛҐӍΛПҒЦꝆ are you going to run for president?

6:01 AM
@WotADong Oh yeah, I think so

@ӍѲꝆΛҐӍΛПҒЦꝆ Eigandi minn gerir mig sofa í skáp.
what does that even mean

Um what language

@ZachGates I'd say it is already. The users in this very chatroom are from around the world. And as internet access pervades the world, that sort of unity will only grow.

> My owner makes me sleep in the closet.

6:02 AM
@HelkaHomba Mmm, we shall see

@MarsUltor Something I've realized recently is that, while politics is really messy and sometimes yucky, it's also really important. And, in particular case, I had an opportunity to listen to people I don't agree with. As brilliantly articulated by Destin of Smarter Every Day, "Be respectful, and listen. It's that simple. But it's really, really hard."
2

@WotADong Btw, Teascript has a stack now?
What?

@ӍѲꝆΛҐӍΛПҒЦꝆ not really, but that's the best way I could describe it
it has an "operator stack" which is what I meant

@El'endiaStarman Yeah, Destin can articulate (and I swear you have the exact same youtube subscriptions as me :P)

6:03 AM
So not a memory stack

@HelkaHomba hahaha :D
You just kind of tend to find other, similar YouTube channels via collaborations and the like...

Politics is neat and all but on the topic of code golf, Seriously now works in Python 3!

Boo code golf

@Mego Seriously?
does it still work in python 2?

@Mego \o/

6:07 AM
It looks like the Python 3 support is in its own branch
The master branch should still be Python 2

Q: How does one "get rekt"?

Alex A.I often see people write "get rekt" to someone when that person makes a mistake or when they beat the person to a goal. It's not immediately obvious what this is intended to mean. I assume "rekt" is Internet speak for "wrecked," but why should someone seek out being wrecked if they've lost at som...

(From now on I'll just link that instead of saying "get rekt.")

Would y'all consider a newline-separated string to be array input in Retina?

@ӍѲꝆΛҐӍΛПҒЦꝆ I think it is

6:14 AM
^ I'm fascinated that was allowed on a fox website
> As an act of political theater, President Obama should pick Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., to replace Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court. Then the nation will find out if McConnell’s distaste for the president is so great that he is willing to obstruct his own nomination to punish Obama.

Goodnight everyone

Should I make my language error on operators that don't exist or just ignore them?

@HelkaHomba One that you might not have: Julia Galef. She posts videos mainly on psychology, logic, and probability.
@ZachGates G'night!

@WotADong Ignore, unless in debug mode

@HelkaHomba hahaha

6:16 AM
@MarsUltor It's not an esolang/golfing lang though

I actually laughed out loud at that.

Then error plus show detailed error info
@WotADong not an esolang? what is its aim/goal?

I'm still trying to find a DUP solution

@HelkaHomba I can't remember where I saw it, but I remember someone saying that they hope that if Bernie wins the nomination that his running mate will be Elizabeth Warren. Someone countered saying, "plot twist: he runs with Mitch McConnell. We knew Bernie was too good to be true."

6:23 AM
@El'endiaStarman I know ;P Just interesting that that demographic's unique point is being the least able to empathize (and I can empathize with that)

@HelkaHomba I had never heard of Bahá'í. I'm not a religious person myself but I really admire the social principles. Sounds like a very good influence growing up. :)

I know I've seen the name myself, but not often. It's quite small, comparatively.

In Tatarstan they have what they call the Temple of All Religions, where people of any faith can practice their faith in the same place.
I think that's a neat idea

I almost have a Windows distribution of Seriously finished \o/

why a windows distribution?
also, .NET?

Anonymous
Because right now running Seriously on Windows is impossible without Cygwin

Anonymous
So I'm creating a distribution that does a very lightweight installation of Cygwin

That confuses me somewhat because Python is supposed to be very cross-platform.

Anonymous
Well, it's not impossible - the main issue is pyshoco, which has had issues being built on Windows platforms

7:13 AM
@Mego or MinGW. Use it to build a native application for Windows.

I have had to make a Python application run on both Windows and Macs, and it amounted to checking for the OS in two places, for an additional six lines of code or so.
Ahhh, so it's not exactly Seriously itself that's the problem, it's something that it uses.

Anonymous
Trying to get C extensions to play nice with MSVC is a nightmare

Anonymous
Yeah

Anonymous
So instead, I'm making the only requirement be .NET 4.0, and make a minimal install that gets everything set up, hands-free

Anonymous
Actually... I'm not even gonna require .NET 4.0

Anonymous
7:17 AM
I'm gonna bootstrap it with Python :P

That first one is my favorite. :P

Also, Mego. Why do you use Cygwin? Native applications use MinGW. It doesn't need a trademark library.

@El'endiaStarman We have listened to it already.

@Katenkyo So the unholiness of a digit is equal to 1 plus the distance from the nearest holy digit?

7:36 AM
@Mego I would say that it is strictly equal to the distance from the nearest holy digit, as being adjacent is a distance of 1 for me, but that's the spirit

Anonymous
Oh ok

Anonymous
Yeah adjacent being 1 makes more sense

Anonymous
I like it :)

I'm glad you do :D

@VoteToClose Yes, CoolestVeto on PPCG has a wonderful avatar! Is that a beautiful image generator or something?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe.

or not may be
that is the question

@EasterlyIrk I meant that specific bitly URL.

8:07 AM
anyone here use LaTeX?

Anonymous
@MartinBüttner You can thank me for teaching him (and many others here) about that bitly URL :)

@randomra no that can't work. You cannot repeat an empty pattern arbitrarily often. The regex engine will short-circuit that once the minimum number of matches (or 1 whichever is more) to satisfy the quantifier had been found (this is actually necessary to prevent infinite loops in much simpler situations).
So you'll actually have to match a character with each pop, like (?=(?<-1>.)*) but of course that requires that there is a sufficient number of characters in the string.
@Mego well thanks then ;)

@MarsUltor It is relevant to algorithms.

PPCG is partly about algorithms

Man I really wish Cygwin installations were consistent... This installation I'm testing fails about 30% of the time for no reason whatsoever

@Mego Use MinGW. 1) You'll make a native application. 2) It'll work more of the time. 3) No libraries required (besides libraries relevant to Windows).

Anonymous
9:33 AM
@zyabin101 I specifically need Cygwin for this.

Anonymous
Specifically, I need the POSIX compatibility layer, which only Cygwin can provide

Then make Seriously apart from the POSIX compilance layer.
As the guys from Git for Windows did.

Anonymous
Or I could just make my life simpler and not target POSIX-incompatible platforms

This procedure is intended to be a quick-n-dirty way to get Seriously running under Windows

@zyabin101 No, those are really really quiet.

  5. @MarsUltor It stands for did not. This and didn't are the same.
And DKT is for did know, thanks, after all...

@zyabin101 What OS do you use?

@MarsUltor Microsoft Windows version 6.0 build 6000 by Microsoft, 2006.

ಠ_ಠ

FileInfo also has a free file viewer.

@zyabin101 Why?

@MarsUltor I like Windows pretty much.

@MarsUltor ಠ_ಠ

@zyabin101 But isn't the Windows 10 upgrade free for Vista?

Why?
@MarsUltor Nope, only for Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 to 10.

Because it's a lot faster than Windows 10, especially on a craptop like mine.

@MarsUltor I use a special Internet USB modem program that's only supported on Linux.

1:15 PM
@zyabin101 I'll make a strawpoll tomorrow, when there is more activity

@MarsUltor Already done.

@zyabin101 Wait, what?

there's no other option

@Quill There shouldn't be one, because the big three are the only ones I know that have access to the Internet.

@zyabin101 The big three?
@zyabin101 What?

@MarsUltor Windows, OS X, Linux.
@MarsUltor I mean, Windows.

@zyabin101 So you're saying Hurd/*nix doesn't have access to the internet?

@MarsUltor I don't have Internet hardware that supports Linux.

@MarsUltor And he runs it on a PC or a MAC?

anyways, I found a slightly similar problem:
A=B>C=D, D>A

Also, when Helka returns?

@zyabin101 ?

@NathanMerrill In that case, the second vote conflicts the first, and doesn't give any new information.

@MarsUltor Does he run the OS X-themed Linux on a PC or a Mac?

and for each set of equal values, I take the second vote and see if it can tiebreak them

yes

@zyabin101 If I understand correctly, Quill has an actual Mac.

You take another random ballot and see how many equalities can be resolved.

1:59 PM
ok, so the only thing that I'm going to have to enforce is that every "ballot" includes every candidate
so, this tournament requires that games can handle every player
