help me I can't format
Escaping the dollar signs fixes it but the backslashes also show up
Simple solution: don't use Perl.

(I kid.)

I don't.

@Mego jeez not helpful
@AlexA. I don't use tabs
can you help me please
I'm serious.
Please help D:
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ No apostrophes
@quartata With what?
Anonymous
@quartata I don't know Perl and I don't know your problem
@AlexA. Getting the code to not look really funny
What @Mego said
cool i can make a tag of screaming
The dollar signs are screwing it up, and escaping them fixes it but keeps the slashes in
02:03
i would suggest not worrying about it, it won't happen when the post gets put on main
Anonymous
@undergroundmonorail
That's weird, I don't see that problem.
@quartata As long as you know the code is right, don't worry about how it looks in the sandbox.
That's the max limit for chat messages.
02:04
You can fix it if/when it goes to main.
How do I make a button :3 ?
@AlexA. Alright. It still looks strange...
If it isn't what you expect when it gets there
Hopefully it won't confuse people.
02:04
@AlienG [tag:button]
More to the point, how's the challenge?
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Thanks.
Anonymous
@quartata Slap the code in a gist and add a link in the sandbox post if it bothers you that much
02:05
@AlienG My pleasure ^_^
@quartata Idk, I was too distracted by the Perl

I can cancel the stars on "Tabs are good!" It doesn't deserve them anyway.
@Mego You starred Doorknob's post? ಠ_ಠ
@El'endiaStarman XD THAT IS SO GOOD :D
Anonymous
@quartata I was promised cookies.
@quartata Everyone should have.
@AlexA. ಠ_ಠ Don't you dare.
02:07
@quartata not starring it is star abuse
@AlexA. I have not
Doorknob's is now the most starred post in the entire network.
@quartata Fix it.
I thought there was one with 75?
@AlexA. nope

@AlexA. Yeah your 55 socks really helped get it there.

@AlexA. is wrong
The 75 was in an SO PHP room
how do you look at what has the most stars on the whole network?
02:09
You don't. It looks at you.
Magic >_>
@Mego I don't have an odd number of socks.
@AlexA. You are a sock so that makes it 56

Any more feedback?
@Geobits What's your real-time KOTH idea?
02:15
@Mego Just needs a walkthrough of a specific example to be a bit clearer, I think
@PhiNotPi It's based on a popular web game (not saying exactly what yet). It needs a fast screen refresh, so I'll have to look at what you've done to see how feasible it is for this. Think players constantly moving in an arena, though.

Feedback other than that Perl sucks and DND is weird please :3
@AlexA. Depends on the drug and the person, tbh. Some people can't handle them at all, but a blanket statement saying "drugs are bad, m'kay" is just as wrong.
02:18
Yes. I prefer comforters.
@Geobits what no
Anonymous
@Sp3000 What kind of walkthrough?
Blasphemy
@Geobits lucky and ankn have been pretty clear about their opinion on bots ;)
Comforters are just a subclass of blankets anyways
02:19
Let me get this straight: I use tabs. I also use spaces. @AlexA.
(if you don't know what this means i've guessed the wrong game, oh well)
Plus I mean, seriously?
Anonymous
@quartata ಠ_ಠ
@Geobits agar io?
@undergroundmonorail I don't know who those people are, but I'm not talking about botting a game, but writing a clone-ish version for a koth.
02:20
yeah it was a joke
It's gotta be agar io.
they are developers of a popular web game that involves players moving around in an arena so i took a stab in the dark
@Mego Just like a "In example 2, clocks X, Y, Z would align after 9 seconds after doing x, y, z full rotations respectively"
That sort of thing
Anonymous
@Sp3000 OK can do
@quartata This sudden obsession people have with agar is odd. It's pretty much a remake of 150 games before it.
02:21
@Geobits I know. I personally hate the game.
(also one or two slightly larger test cases might be good imo, but anyway...)
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Oh god, you mix the two? That's even worse!
But you said "popular web game" so I just took a guess
@AlexA. Nononoonono
@undergroundmonorail What game is this?
02:21
@quartata tagpro
It's not necessarily popular now, I guess.
I use spaces on one project, tabs on another. @AlexA.
capture the flag game with balls
@quartata Why? It's kinda fun
02:22
apparently you can buy skins now lmao
I'd like to clone Line Rider, too, tbh, but not for a challenge here. I just want to play it on my phone/tablet.
@undergroundmonorail Capture the balls
I forgot how much fun Line Rider was until I introduced my kid to it recently.
@AlexA. no you capture flags and play as balls
@Geobits i used to watch line rider videos on youtube like, all day
Ball the flag
02:22
you got it buddy
Anonymous
Ooh
Hmm. Agar's not a bad idea for a KotH, though :P
Anonymous
I just realized an example for this challenge
Anonymous
That completely breaks the least-LCM solution
02:25
Hence, needs more test cases :P
e.g. 2, [2, 2, 2, 3, 3]
Anonymous
3, [2,2,6,7,11]
@Geobits Weird. First time I knew of a game like it.
Alex(3,4,5) = 5
Alex(x,y,3) = y/2
@Mego Isn't the smallest LCM of 3 of them 6?
Is that not 6 or am I missing something?
02:26
Hey all!
Anonymous
@Geobits Yes, but they would be aligned after 3 seconds
Anonymous
More examples added, and I added explanations
Ah, I see.
Oh, so they don't have to align at the start?
Anonymous
02:27
So it's a little bit trickier than choosing the n integers with the smallest LCM
If so you might want to word that clearer
Anonymous
@Sp3000 They are all aligned at the start, like it states in the question
@Sp3000 They align at the start. In three seconds, the 2s go around 1.5 times, and the 6 goes around .5, so they're aligned.
I mean, where they align the second time is in the same place as where they started
Anonymous
They end up aligned, but 180 degrees from the starting position
02:28
Because that's the impression I had
Anonymous
It's not always that case
(hence the might-want-to-word-that-clearer)
If that's the case, wouldn't that make 2, [2, 2, 2, 3, 3] invalid input?
Anonymous
True
Anonymous
See why did you have to suggest that one
Well I misinterpreted your question differently, remember? :P
Anonymous
02:32
Stop being wrong, you're making me wrong
Anonymous
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Don't you put that evil on me
@Mego Well I still think your second example is wrong - after 9s, 6 is on the opposite side :P
@TanMath Hey (Really Late)
Anonymous
02:36
@Sp3000 Oops. Don't sandbox while sleepy
@AlienG hey!
2s and 3s are a blur >_>
@Mego Test case: 3, [4, 6, 8, 10, 16, 18, 30]
The second example aligns 3,4,6 at 12

Q: On the legality of a dubois challenge

sysreqSome people may be aware of DeCSS, a bit of C of which the MPAA (and the rest of the US gov't) are not very fond because it decrypts copy- and read-protected DVDs for playing on, say, linux machines where no such license is available. @phase what have you done
@undergroundmonorail No, but I've got a homebrew Wii. I'll look into installing it later
@phase it's not wii homebrew it's dolphin
so you'd need a controller adapter :(
@Mego HTTPS certificate error with my Windows XP Chrome
@Rainbolt JSFiddle needs to get it's syntax parsing together. It doesn't realize that things like <input> don't need closing tags.
02:48
@Geobits agar.io?
Anonymous
@phase Sounds like a personal problem
i think so far we know it's not agario, tagpro or line rider
@PhiNotPi I'm going to end up doing that just because it's the first one everybody guesses, aren't I?
it wasn't the first one i guessed!!
02:49
LoL?
@Mego Another one for the road: 2, [12, 80, 180, 300]
it involves internet connectivity, has some kind of arena and movement
@undergroundmonorail You guessed something obscure in an obscure way :/
@Mego remove the s in the http bootswatch link and it should work
Anonymous
02:50
@Sp3000 Should be 16 (eyeballing, don't have my solver script with me right now)
@Geobits in fairness if i had been correct it would have been so dope
I believe it's an error with chrome
@Geobits Russian roulette. (What are we guessing?)
I scrolled up too and could not figure it out
I guess Minecraft
@Calvin'sHobbies I think we've already had something similar to that. If not, we should have.
02:50
what webgame geobits is going to make a koth out of
Well, the website does not currently have automatic screen refresh, but it does have a way to incorporate arbitrary JS.
Anonymous
@Sp3000 15, looks like
@Mego Unless I've done something wrong, should be 75 actually
it requires fast screen refresh and he said "think players in an arena"
02:51
@PhiNotPi Arbitrary JS sounds like it might work.
it's not agar.io or tagpro or line rider (not that it would be line rider anyway)
Anonymous
@Sp3000 For 3, [4, 6, 8, 10, 16, 18, 30]?
Oh for that one, yes 15
The second one is 75
If I could think of a good way to koth-ize line rider, it would be that.
But then I'd have to do, like, physics.
I would have guessed agar.io simply because this was his FIRST KotH:
02:52
that's a great point
He's already got predators eating birds. One step away from agar.io.
also wtf is pcg that looks so wrong
That was my first KotH ;)
e_e I have to install microsoft silverlight to use my school's recording software. fffffffuuuu
The way the site works is that there's two programs, one that is the controller, which runs completely in the background, writing to files, etc. Then, there's a second program which you write that takes the current data and outputs HTML/JS which is sent to the viewer.
02:53
@Rainbolt What did they do to my music????
@Geobits They decided you stole it.
Well I did. Still :(
what music was it
Anonymous
@Sp3000 How do you get 15 and 75?
this music isn't bad though
02:54
Wow, someone upvoted my comment on Meta like 2 seconds after I posted it. :P
@Geobits I'll be honest, I can't see any red or blue guys chasing around in that video. I'm colorblind, but I can see red just fine.
@Mego For each tick, get (tick/period) %1 for each hand, and see if you get n copies of any value (i.e. brute force)
The description of the video says that the two teams are red and blue
@undergroundmonorail It was originally Soul Coughing - Circles.
I'm blue green colorblind, so the fact that I can only see green kind of makes sense but where are the red guys?
02:56
@Rainbolt I know. Youtube put it through a mangler when uploading :/ It looked much better originally.
You can barely see them here, but it still sucks.
@Geobits Tron would be neat
i'm red green colourblind so i didn't question it
:P
@Calvin'sHobbies FFA Tron or round robin 1v1? Both have their merits I think...
Either
FFA sounds more fun though
Anonymous
@Sp3000 Ahh, I see now. I stopped being lazy and got my script. Verification is so much simpler than solving it. I guess that's what you get when you come up with a variation on an NP-complete problem.
02:58
:P
That's why I was trying to chuck hard-to-eyeball test cases at you :P
Hmm, King of the Walls is pretty much Tron.
I won that, so you'd think I'd have remembered it sooner.
Anonymous
Verification is easy. For each x in the list, push 360/x*n%360 (where n is the solution to verify), and count the number of equal values
