The Spivak pronouns are a proposed set of gender-neutral pronouns in English promulgated on LambdaMOO based on pronouns used by Michael Spivak. Though not in widespread use, they have been employed in writing for gender-neutral language by those who dislike the standard terms "he/she" or singular they. Three variants of the Spivak pronouns are in use, highlighted in the declension table below. The original ey has been argued to be preferable to e, because the latter would be pronounced the same as he in those contexts where he, him, his loses its h sound. == HistoryEdit == The precise history of...

Tim StoneAs a compliment or alternative* to not refunding cancelled stars, it'd be nice if chat would auto-raise a flag identifying someone starring n items in x minutes, or at least provide a list of unusually active starrers that could be consulted when there was a problem. @TanMath There is a great reason for downstars. The starboard is supposed to be for quality messages in a chatroom. When messages like this get starred, it defeats the purpose. Chat users need the ability to self-moderate stars to some degree, and downstars fit that purpose.

@Mego as i said, stop using that as an example, it was a joke!

@Mego but sometimes, certain things are funny to be starred...

@TanMath The purpose of the starboard is to list some interesting/useful(/occasionally witty) messages from the past day(s). If it's littered with random stuff, it becomes entirely useless.

I was undecided before, but now I agree: that pinned message was necessary. Because stars were being abused, that got pinned, and in essence we lost a slot on the starboard. Consider it punishment.

9:55 PM
@Doorknob it does... it promotes useless starring..

Starring promotes useless starring.

@Doorknob I would say it would be acceptable if it was only for decreasing. I would also like for mods and room owners (if not the entire chat) to be able to see who starred what. Mods and room owners should also be able to suspend starring privileges of individuals or the entire chat.

@Doorknob noo... i disagree big time...

@Doorknob however, if it were done for particular users, maybe that would be better...so you could decrease for starring trolls...
