Can you answer this? How do I disable the app menu at the user level? http://askubuntu.com/questions/71937/how-do-i-disable-the-app-menu-at-the-user-level?atw=1 #unity
NA = Not an Answer. But actually, I think that is a real answer. It's not a very good answer, because it's apparently wrong, and also consists pretty much of just a link. But it is a real attempt to answer the question.
i meant "not actionable" as in not deleteable, not closable, etc., where moderator-only actions do not apply (downvoting is always an action, therefore does not get included in the "not actionable" category of actions)
@LordofTime tabbed browsing and multiple sites using similarly named js functions is my guess. for example, facebook status updates bork the new message count on linkedin...improper scoping
why is it that people assume that issues with other applications saying "Oh your upstart scripts are wrong" automatically constitutes a bug in the program with a flawed "status" response.
@JorgeCastro saw you awarded the +250 on my bug related question, thanks much
(I got 250+50 because i got upvotes while it was marked on the Featured tab)
I cannot open my most recent (and most important) text document in Libre Office, a pre publication draft of a book. It's the only document this has ever happened to - all others on my pc are accessible. I have Windows XP. Any clues anyone?
@fossfreedom as a rule, i always include everything pre just to be sure. i'ld rather be safe. added bit, if it's still gpl3+ i would just say based on a work from X with the same license
@htorque well with mine it may be an issue from virtual box but it should say something else then. Like "installing DEB packages on crappy machines is not allowed..."
I have endlessly been playing around with the Nvidia X Server settings and changing my xorg.conf file to try and work for me and on most days its fine. In each instance I get it working for a while and then this morning the most bizarre thing happens. The moment I open any type of Wine program (w...
How are packages actually installed via apt-get install? http://askubuntu.com/questions/162477/how-are-packages-actually-installed-via-apt-get-install?atw=1 #installation
@jrg I've already known sarcasm for a while. I just have avoided it for my sarcasm is 16-bit, and cannot interoperate with 64-but systems, especially on Windows.
For example, if I wanted to help out with trying edge(in this case Quantal), but I wanted to be able to revert to a stable-ish system if some update caused a problem -- how would I accomlish this task?
i'ld upgoat anything helpful, but i think it' basically covered. a general answer was fine with me, but it seems like a question that needed to be asked

I'm using Linux Mint MATE with Avant Window Navigator.
Thanks to awn I no longer need the panel.
How do I remove it?
(For the moment I use the panel with autohide on and no applets but I expect a more elegant solution to this).
@jrg Sorry I was setting up my... okay this is embarrassing, but I promise I'm still loyal to the Ubuntu crowd... I was setting up my... New Workstation for Windows. Okay? Mounted a ruggedized tablet to the wall, netbook underneath, PC to the right. Perfect for gaming, development, and really media. I'm still ever so loyal to the Ubuntu crowd, my only dual core PC is dedicated to it entirely.
@jrg And soon, my girlfriend with lack for a better use for it is going to give me a Macbook from '07? Broken screen, but outfit that with a monitor? Free desktop like device, slap Ubuntu on there. Another idea would be to remove the top screen entirely and have a bottom slab with - Mouse, Keyboard, just hook up the monitor and BAM. Cheap, effective PC.
@Flabricorn If it comes with a service contract, you almost surely must not physically remove the screen, if you want to keep the service contract. Also, if you keep the screen, you have another screen--you can have dual display between it and whatever bigger/better monitor you use primarily.
Also, I don't think it's embarrassing to use other operating systems besides Ubuntu, or that you should feel any need to prove your loyalty to Ubuntu. Ubuntu doesn't need to enforce loyalty--people will come and use it because it's good. I feel some loyalty to the Ubuntu community, but I use the Ubuntu operating system because it tends to be loyal to me, the user. </impassioned advocacy>
