The alignment/spacing/layout on Meta.SE (new left nav) makes me want to puke.

people keep talking about this and i have legitimately no idea what they're referring to. i have a 16:10 monitor so maybe it looks different for me

@quartata would a screenshot suffice?

I guess they're all using a 16:9 monitor like me?
1080p
or even smaller, 768p

@WELZ yeah be sure to use freehand circles

2:33 AM
Oh, this will be fun

16:10 as an aspect ratio actually annoys the shit out of me, it makes recording things a nuisance and screenshots look weird
extra work for me but it's not that big a deal i guess

You can't have seen what a 16:14 screen looks like :)
almost square

@quartata That's probably because you're become accustom to the cheaper, now ubiquitous, 16:9 format.

it's true
but you know who else has: youtube, who will put black boxes around my demos if I forget to render them in 16:9 windowed
(just one example but)

@quartata Why is it 16:10 and not 8:5? smh

2:39 AM
lol

Either way here you go...
The reason it isn't as bad on SO is, they don't have an extra bar on the top like meta.se does.

i'd have to take a look later but I don't think there's that much empty space on the left side

Oh, I'm not saying that you shouldn't produce content to be the much more common 16:9 format. I just like to be able to view things at 16:9 and still have room for other controls, without having to reduce the width of the content.

The real problems start for me... I usually don't have my browser open in full screen, and then these buttons are on the edge. -_-
The overall feel is just super weird.

I tend to assign a high probability that if we're watching something as specific as a domain, then it's that we're watching a known specific domain, which we've seen previously. I understand that we can easily watch patterns in domains (I've at least considered setting up a few). What I'd find better is if we had something that was "potentially bad pattern in X" in addition to "potentially bad keyword in X".
I guess part of it is that I use the fact that a domain shows up as watched as a marker that we've seen that specific domain used as spam, particularly when !!/watching a domain.

@tripleee I agree. The only reasonable way to do it would be to have a separate list for watches which are intended as pattern matches to detect things which we haven't actually seen yet. I certainly don't want to be saying people shouldn't use whatever regex capabilities they desire for watches (within reason; e.g. performance considerations).
