Metasmoke crap.
though I think Nobody's instance is fubar and needs a fresh pull :P

For #1381 frankly I've come to the conclusion that since Smokey uses so little of CE we (and the rest of the bot commujnity) are better off writing our own chat library that uses asyncio, with our command middleware on top of that, as opposed to monkey-patching ChatExchange like that. i've been working on that some
For #1178 since making the request for Perspective is blocking I can guarantee you it will be slow
Both of these have something in common: the need for non-blocking asynchronous I/O. that's my next big goal in refactoring

@quartata Is the Perspective reason marked as experimental?

yes
(although i will need someone to pin it on MS)
I will incorporate Perspective eventually
But it needs findspam to be able to handle futures in order not to block everything
This will also improve the bad NS reason

Okay, let's try it then. See how it goes. If it really is slow, we can take it out again pending asyncs. Merge commits are wonderful things for reverts.

can't tell from chat

@ArtOfCode What are you working on?

@quartata 363ms

3:59 PM
that is far worse than I expected
oh well
we'll let it run a bit I guess

@quartata Running statistics. At absolute minimum we need to be able to scan 1.63 posts per second to keep up with maximum influx rate.

well it'll be able to do that
at least
I think
maybe not

363ms seems to have been an outlier, most requests are running around 200 ms at the moment

@ArtOfCode How can you scan .63 of a post?

4:05 PM
but even assuming 360, that's 400ms total for a post, which is over 2 posts per second, so we're fine
not as much wiggle room as we have without it, but it's workable
@JakeSymons maths

@JakeSymons In a second, you scan roughly 2/3 of it.

4:12 PM
that's with the tags
you don't want to include the tags
> string = strip_urls_and_tags(regex.sub("(?s)<code>.*?</code>", "", post.body[:3000]))
so it saw "I'm trying to to write a hql query ass below and i am getting this error"

why are we limiting it to 3000 chars

that's how much the API will take

Looks like a great idea, but in my experience, toxic stuff is mostly in comments...

@SFTP heatdetector already uses this

@quartata likewise, why are we stripping code blocks? I've seen offensive content surrounded by backticks before
and real code shouldn't be classed as offensive

Could it lead to misses? An angry tirade before/after a large code block not being recognized because the code dilutes the message?

Two requests: While we are testing perspective, can we have the score posted in chat? Can we ensure that we keep the flag weight of toxic posts at 0 until we are happy with how it works? A score of .87 for a single "ass" typo doesn't instill a lot of confidence right now...but it's early.

@Andy cc @Undo to pin the weight to 0/1
@SmokeDetector why

4:23 PM
@ArtOfCode Post - Perspective scored 0.8761376

so the score is available#

Right, but that post was not 87% toxic. That was a typo. Even "ass" is mild. That's a pretty high score for that particular word

it does that
"stupid" is another one

@quartata dumb question, but the 3000 limit is after stripping the code blocks right?

4:27 PM
uhhhhhh

That's going to make it hard to set decent thresholds. I wouldn't want autoflags on "stupid"

no it is not
@Andy it is never going to autoflag on "stupid"
not sure what that has to do with anything tbh

It will if you give it weight and combine it with a couple other reasons. Or, are we not adding these weights to the autoflags in the future?

Well maybe that's something that would be good to change (strip code blocks before selecting the first 3000 characters)

@Andy it's just experimental

4:29 PM
ok

RPi should have a perspective key now

@quartata still needs Undo to pin the weight down though

Would would "you have no business coding in C" score on Perspective?

fingers crossed

test performance when running with everything else (and also to leave it running for a longer period of time)

it's not going to do any harm though, it's an experimental reason meaning that it won't be posted to any other rooms
