I'll re-request push access after another few month's contribution :)

So, what can we do to reduce the conflicting feedback messages, and should we?

@M.A.R. I'd almost propose removing them altogether and replacing it with some sort of search functionality on MS. Half of the time it isn't even accurate.

@Adinia hello! Welcome to Charcoal!

@M.A.R. Hello M.A.R and thank you for welcoming me, while I still try to figure out how I can help

@Adinia Lurk here for some time and you'll know the basics. It's very simple.
After that, you can ping an admin to grant you privileges.

@JF ohh. I need Python one.

@AJ Ruby on Rails :)

@iBug Thank you, I am not very sure yet if this is the right room, or I should start in the SOCVR room :/

@Adinia Hiya, welcome! Always nice to see new users around. We've got a (slightly work-in-progress) introduction/training session on our website; want to check that out and tell us if it's helpful?

@iBug I keep wondering why this Ruby guy doesn't get crushed by a train

@Adinia This is the right room if you want to help Stack Exchange fight off spam and trolling. It reads "Charcoal HQ".

11:17 AM
@Mithrandir eeeeesh

@Mithrandir Thank you, I just did that, and I arrived here from that page

@Adinia both projects are concerned with site quality; we are strictly spam but on the other hand across the entire network, while SOCVR is focused on Stack Overflow only, but with a broader scope of quality problems they look at

@Adinia both?

ah, lovely
@M.A.R. ?

Look out for rene though

11:17 AM
@iBug Yes, I am mostly a SO user, though I have a few other SE accounts

@M.A.R. yeah, that flower is intimidating, eh?

@Adinia Smokey will report only SO posts to SOCVR, and getting privileges there requires RO approval.

@tripleee Thank you, that's a helpful explanation

@Mithrandir just eesh. Imagine a dystopian future were we make spam fighters

when I first came here I was wary of touching sites I wasn't familiar with but after a while you realize that the spammers send exactly the same spam to a large number of sites, and getting it deleted is routine

11:18 AM
@Mithrandir carnivorous

a good guidance is to not provide feedback on stuff you are not entirely sure of

@tripleee this

@tripleee like when you hit [Skip] in review queues

@M.A.R. DON'T EAT ME @RENE

@iBug yeah, more people should learn to love the skip button

11:20 AM
@iBug what's skip? I've never seen it

in the review queues on many of the sites, you can click "fine" or "bad" or "skip (I don't know)"

@M.A.R. Skip is you hover a rope in your hands, swing the rope round and round and you jump when it hits the ground.

@iBug sounds boring. Why do people do it?

@tripleee Yes, that's for sure; I was 1005 sure it was spam when I tried to provide feedback earlier, but I didn't really realize that I don't have that privilege(though I have just read the Privileges tutorial)

11:21 AM
why does SO have so many extra queues

@M.A.R. in hope of a bronze badge, no doubt

because SO has so many extra posts

@Adinia Just hang around for a few days, you'll then (in all likelihood) be qualified for privs. Our requirements basically amount to "are you sane?"

@Adinia that sounds like definitely sure
@tripleee badge farmer

@Adinia yeah, that was fine, just making sure to mention it because it's easy to be pulled along into voting on stuff just because others did

11:22 AM
@Mithrandir + are you 13 at least?

@M.A.R. Don't ask, don't tell

@M.A.R. that was below the belt

For instance, Mith didn't have privileges because he's too young

@M.A.R. Ups, that was supposed to be 100% :D

@M.A.R. pff
I didn't have privs because I declined them at first

Q: Confused about disclosure and spam flagging

CarcigenicateSomeone has a post up on SO right now advertising a "Microwave Dinner Set" . Technically, they do disclose that by saying "us", which makes it clear that t...

@ProcessedMeat Oh, new post

@trip can you provide a screenshot of stackoverflow.com/questions/49276079?

@tripleee yes, better to remind everyone from the beginning than to have to correct them afterwards

@ProcessedMeat ha, they overthought it
@Adinia duuuude(tte). Someone give this guy privileges

or I mean the same profile has accounts on 3 other sites

Isn't it that it's the account that has different profiles?

I'd say just show the three with the best weights, then add the "and 65 more"

@M.A.R. in the worst case the title alone is too long (dunno what the limit is)
but yeah, "x and n more" would be fine if you can click on the MS link to figure out what those others are instead

11:57 AM
Why don't we have it show 2 highest weighing reasons and then (full post weight)

It would be nice if the messages (and FIRE) showed full weight

Q: Remove/Change mention of disclosure in spam flag reason

CarcigenicateThis is a follow-up to my previous question. I think we should change the description of the flag reason to either make it clearer that disclosure isn't required, or remove that part of the description altogether. From the answers to my previous question, it doesn't appear as though disclosure ...

@ProcessedMeat you just don't let go

11:58 AM
hmmm, can't find an open issue on Github, am I blind?

maybe

@tripleee won does though? Weight more than 400 is just obvious spam, we don't really need to know the reasons for it
