8:28 AM
Hi @Tyyppi_77

user92578
Hey!

how are you?

user92578
Just got home from my chemistry exam, which went suprisingly well

user92578
you?

I'm good. Don't know if i should learn more c++ now, or attempt to make an engine in Java

user92578
8:30 AM
What ever you fee like

user92578
I'm always leaning away from Java + making an engine

user92578
but both can be a great learning experience

Yeah... and I like box2d which is easier in c++
Do you know any c++?

user92578
Yeah, I'm deving my game in it

oh. What engine?

user92578
8:34 AM
My own framework that I've formed on SDL2

o.o cool
I don't know what all the basic stuff in c++ is

user92578
and by framework I mean the stuff that has came with the progress of making a game

like the -> operator

user92578
that's just "." for pointers

Ah
That gives sense
and does & mean the value of the adress that is pointed to?
no...
it means the pointer of
right?

user92578
8:37 AM
& returns the adress of the thing

user92578
T object;

user92578
T* adressOfObject = &object

Yeah, that also gives sense

user92578
and now adressOfObject is a valid pointer to object, as long as object is alive

Take that Garbage collectors!

user92578
8:38 AM
C++ can be quite hard to get into but once you grasp the basics you can do quite a lot with it

user92578
But you still learn something new everyday

Hello Kevin

user92578
And if you don't do too low-level stuff, you can get away from the most annoying problems

user92578
Hey @KevinvanderVelden!

8:39 AM
Well, I like that there at least is a proper string header in c++
and that you don't need to cast char[] to get it into a string

user92578
eating, brb

@joapet99 and there are so many to choose from :p
Though I typically just use the std unicode version (std::wstring iirc)
Now, meeting!

Well, I just find to different string headers
not too many
brb

9:02 AM
So what did you guys think of I am technician
have potential?

long as there's a market and demand for whatever you're technicianing for

well then

user92578
you're talking about your game right?

oh is that your game's title? I Am Technician?

Yes

9:06 AM
ah, capitalisation would have helped haha

my bad ;p

I think I played it the other day, you're in front of a desk and computer with a box of stuff on the floor?

yep
it says 7 people viewed it from the link here
so i figured
one of you must have some opinion

back

does it have any objectives yet?

9:11 AM
Hmm. I don't think I have tried your game Mutch

I seem to recall trying to pick up parts and put them on something

just repair computers

is that exciting to the average person?
is it creating a unique experience?
does it feel rewarding? satisfying? fun?
(being objective here)

The music XD

well for what it is
it wouldn't be rewarding right now

9:13 AM
make it rewarding then :)
a sense of achievement and accomplishment

I GOT INSIDE
YAY

it surely has to be fun though
i mean
i've watched youtube videos
and they all laugh in it

Ehm. how do you rotate the objects you are holding

i completely forgot
RMB

What does it mean when the cursor turns green

9:34 AM
that it's in the correct slot and you can place it

Yeah I figured
I have repaired two computers now

nice!
have you found a cat lol?

No :(

wait for it ;)

@Mutch95 I tried it just now, had massive collision detection issues, some null object references in console and the PC side panel fell through the desk and I couldn't get it back

9:48 AM
don't need it ;)
you can chuck it away

SHIFT IS OVER! NOOO

it's not that realistic
hahaha :)

user92578
Hmm aight back to fixing my performance...

also, the computer says I have 30 cpu and 30 hdd, but I only have a box of gpu's and ram sticks
not sure if intended or not

I found the cat...
Thought it was a dog at first sight though

9:50 AM
Hey

user92578
Hey

How to remove the cat!

I pushed the customer into the corner, lol
also, perhaps you should consider using a different technique to draw the text on the monitor to avoid this kind of thing

Has anyone tried to make bone based animations in Unity?

user92578
I hate performance problems sooo much

9:57 AM
Still trying to update all your units in one frame?

user92578
yeah, I need that

user92578
90 is not that much even

R
so opinions?
it was made in 3 days

XD I got a computer that was already fixed

user92578
great game that's for sure

user92578
10:04 AM
every game that is made here I'm sure is great

A customer didn't want me to check it's pc
although i could fix it in their hand

10:43 AM
lol
yeah i got that bug too
so i could sell this? if it was completed of course

Jon
@Hjorthenify i did a test of one

Maybe

Huh?

If it was like more components

Jon
bone based anims

10:52 AM
And things you could buy
consequences
days

Ah. How I think I'll stick to this: pixelnest.io/tutorials/2d-game-unity/animations-1
Not sure how it will work out tho :D

Jon
works fine
but if you want better -- you will need actual bone system
Otherwise, it will not look very organic, but might be fine for what you are doing

Well it is in top-down 2D

Ah yes I skimmed through that one

Jon
10:54 AM
it is keyframe animation
bone/joint is different
it does some IK calcs and shit

Hmm let me get your a gif of what I am trying to port to unity
Godot had a build in keyframe animator
@Jon That's what I want to make in unity

Jon
ah, thats a piece of cake
keyframes are fine
