11:00 PM
Plus! I got some daily exercise, and some really nice... erhem, legs

on a day with heavy traffic I got to my destination quicker than a mate's bus

Actually
That's a good idea, John.

I wouldn't like to bike in my city :(
I mean I'd just use the sidewalk anyway
and might run the risk of hitting some pedestrians too
the bike lane is not very well separated (or at all) from the rest of the sidewalk
gah, this reminds me of the crazy BMX kids
I so want to pick up their bikes and throw them in the river each time I see them jumping around me
at high speeds too

Time to invest in an eBike

like this one?
I hope it's like this one, because the others were ugly :D

11:09 PM
Yup.
That's what they look like

when I was younger I used to want one of these
I still kinda do

They can go about 32KM/hr
No license needed

Pah, 32km/hr, that's nothing. :p

@AlexM. YOU'RE A REAL NOICE GUY, BUT YOU AND ME, WE'RE DONE PROFESSIONALLY

11:11 PM
how much does one of these cost?

@JohnMcDonald it'll trim down that 30 minute walk nicely. :p
@AlexM. About a grand or so

@hasherr what?

@VaughanHilts Ha, how did you know I take 30 minute walks?

Sorry
You invaded my braiiin

lol if I bought one of those eBikes
the Romanian police wouldn't know how to tell them apart from the normal bikes

11:12 PM
So I've got my A* tileset set up.

so the license thing is bullshit anyway :))

Just need to implement the actual algo

Yup. I'm pretty sure I get up to ~40-45kph on my own

@AlexM. Except you know, your speed.
@JohnMcDonald Really? Can you go that fast on a normal bike?

lol nobody looks at bikers going fast
nobody looks at bikers actually here
cars go much faster, they're a better way to make $$$ off fines

11:14 PM
Do you own a car?

I can go pretty damn fast. On most of the roads I take (speed "limit" 50kph), I'm usually as fast, or faster than the cars

@hasherr yes
unfortunately
I don't own a driver's license

@JohnMcDonald I think it might be time to invest in a good bike. ;)

@VaughanHilts I'd recommend using what you have right at the start, then you can move up, :)

@JohnMcDonald My rusty bike I've left in the rain for 4 years straight?
I'm not really sure I trust putting 10Km on it every day :)

11:16 PM
yeah I have one of those too
whenever I get on it it creaks

I'm not sure how mine still works.

I feel like if I went a bit faster it would just break

It's 5 years old.

5 is still ok
mine is 12 yo

heh. I rode my 15-year old cheap mountain bike into the ground before getting myself a hybrid (road bike with upright posture like a mountain bike)

11:17 PM
Mine dosen't even have shocks. :(

You won't need shocks for the city imo

my grandpa had one of these
I did get on it once
it felt weirdly speedy

@JohnMcDonald I'll give it a try sometime when it warms up over here and see how it fairs. :)

and also weirdly efficient overall
and comfy

Looking at bikes
they're more expensive than I remember.

11:18 PM
@AlexM. Think:

looks good I guess, not an expert :D

@VaughanHilts Nice ones can be, yeah. Depends what you need/want

Looks like I'll just ride mine into the ground. ;)
It only needs to be rode for 15 minutes a day in the summer.
On city roads.

the closest bike manufacturer to me is b'twin btwin.com/en/home
I mean the closest shop selling bikes sells b'twins
799,99 £ for an electric model of theirs

@AlexM. That's unfortunate

11:20 PM
Mine was ~$1300, but it has some "unnecessary" features, like disk brakes, and something else I can't remember. My bike's model could be as cheap as ~$800.

@hasherr yeah but not really
I'm not a fan of driving

Can you easily obtain one?

my parents insist on me taking the car, but I really want them to keep it and never drive

Lol, that'll be hard to live up to.

well, gtg

11:22 PM
I just find driving really tiring

Being 40+ years old and not knowing how to drive does not yield easy travel.

I'm not 40+ yo

But then again, I live in America where everything is 40 miles away from everything else and you have to drive to get there.
You will be

also for a programmer it shouldn't be too hard to hire a personal driver for important trips :\
lol last time when I was in driving school
I drove for like 1.5 hrs
then I just lost interest and got tired & bored
the next day I was fine again

Driving is a pain

11:24 PM
... for 1.5 hrs

When we go to Chicago or New York I normally drive for 3 or 4 hours

there was one time when I regretted not having a license
when I missed my train and had to wait 40 mins for the bus to get home
actually I was just mad because I had to wake up early
with a car I could have gotten home during the night lol

Pip
heyo
back

Oi

Pip
@ChristianCareaga I know, working on a feature atm. Also trying to fix my framerate problems

11:31 PM
@Pip Godot's scripting language is very similar to python
extends Node2D

var screen_size
var pad_size

func _ready():
	screen_size = get_viewport_rect().size
	pad_size = get_node("left").get_texture().get_size()
	set_process(true)
you might want to take a look at it

Pip
cool
I may, later

here's how the descriptions of some of AoE2 HD's achievements look like
And yet, I lived
--
Over one hundred of your units were lost in this battle - even with such great losses, if they were well used against the enemy you did the right thing. Get used to studying the battle stats after each match with an opponent - did you have the right complementary mix of units? Did you make your enemy pay for every one of your losses? Every unit sacrificed is an opportunity to learn about your opponent.
this is some sort of tutorial-in-achievement-description
Massacre
--
Two hundred of your units were lost in this conflict. Sadly, not every battle can be a sweeping victory where everyone returns to the feast table to boast of their skill. Sometimes, being a good general is about knowing when to throw everything against the enemy without reservation or hesitation. Today you know how that feels.
this is turning into a novel
Seven Sealed Fates
Congratulations! You have singly defeated Seven CPU opponents (at moderate difficulty or higher). World champions will often play against seven CPU opponents on Hard difficulty as a warm-up before tournaments.
Time to Stop Counting Buildings
Sure, generals say that every unit lost is mourned and every building razed is avenged - but after fifty thousand even the most obsessive counter gives up. You have seen civilizatons rise and fall endlessly - it is time to stop counting the buildings. Congratulations that you persevere, mighty leader.
I'm not sure if this is good or bad
I mean I'm used to descriptions like "Kill X enemies."

professionalism

lol

I'm using a BinaryWriter to write to the files
because I'm awesome like that.
Encryption? Too lazy.
hides files because I want to be coo'

11:47 PM
if (File.GetAttributes(CredentialsPath) != FileAttributes.Hidden)
{
	File.SetAttributes(CredentialsPath, FileAttributes.Hidden);
}
always use fields to store paths that are important

NO

in case the path changed, in your example you'd have to change it twice

not rlly pls

also being hardcoded like that, it's impossible for you to actually use some data source from which to parse paths
so I'm afraid that // we don't need to do jack is the least important problem with your code

USE THE REGISTRY

11:49 PM
On the topic of driving

^ I WILL MESS I TUP

I'm not a fan, either.

NO

And biking gives some critical excercise.

@ToddersLegrande delete 5 files

11:49 PM
SIGN UP FOR AMAZON'S CLOUD SERVICES
AND STORE EVERYTHING THERE

ERMGEMRMED!

11:49 PM
@Noctrine I make the best jokes

@AlexM. tell amazon grey is coming home.

hell yeah
yeah they're excited
it might be worth getting a pointy hat though
cause you're not the grey they're looking forward to lol

: - (
@AlexM. SHUTUP I have a website
I'm professional.

I don't :(
it says you're famously effective

ugh
we're using C89 in class
Why must I want to cry

user4704
11:54 PM
Heh.

could be worse

^

user4704
Could be C99.

you could be using Pascal's calculator

you could be using oberon/F

11:55 PM
Isn't C99 better?

:O @Grey are you the e-trade baby?

user4704
A handful of extra good stuff, added really inconsistently, and not actually available for use anywhere useful so you just get used to it and then have it taken away.

@Noctrine Stop now.
REDACT.

@JoshPetrie My main beef is not being able to declare a for loop variable inside the decleration

@Noctrine haha, yeah I thought GREY WAS THE E-TRADE BABY too.

11:55 PM
:(((((

user4704
Using C89 without compiler extensions is a bit of a fffffffffffff though, I'll give you that.

@Grey :P
jk, you're still grey kohai
IEEE Spectrum
Google has purchased Nest Labs, and we're a little creeped out. http://spectrum.ieee.org/tech-talk/consumer-electronics/gadgets/google-buys-nest-labs-for-32b
IEEE doesn't always get creeped out
but when it gets
it's Google's fault

@JoshPetrie C: 1989 Edition?

Google has purchased Nest Labs, the maker of smart thermostats and smoke alarms, for $3.2 billion.

@AlexM. Old news
CES 2014 -> Neptune Pine

11:58 PM
@Grey it was posted one day ago
less than one day ago

@AlexM. a day ago actually
Oldnewsisoldnews.

i can't clocks
well every piece of news becomes old as soon as something else happens after it was published
so, actual news don't exist
it's just news you've heard of and news you haven't heard of
so shut up kohai and learn some respect
I told you I was a pervert at the age of 6
so by a crazy chance
