12:00 AM
@Grey Essentially, yes. The version of C as per the 1989 standard.

I could be your father

:> Lol you do not want to know my dads age MEEEEEEEEEEEEuhehueh.

actually considering that at the age of 5 I was able to get girls into my room and start getting naked
and now I'm foreveralone.jpg

What.

I kinda leveled down
I blame the PC

12:01 AM
I don't understand.

it's better that way

I feel

KEEP YOUR INNOCENCE GREY KOHAI

Like this is gonna end badly >>

12:01 AM
THE WORLD OF SENPAIS IS BAD

@Noctrine DO SOMETHING
~ o ~

c'mon
I promised I'll be good from now on
I'll stop at that

lmao

@Grey I said I'm actively trying to build up a facade to help me better in daily situations

could not verify oauth request
help

Pip
12:04 AM
@AlexM. I'm gonna go play that 4chan game
bbl

@Pip 4chan is for weebos

give it a go @Pip
and let me know which character you chose, and why
(use private messaging if you find it to be uncomfy)

Pip
I played through most of act one already
alright, I will

I'm curious
be sure to download the full version, not just act 1
you can't import saves :(

Pip
I know
I did
awww
I wonder why......

12:05 AM
I had to speedrun act 1 like an idiot when I found out
mashed the triple-click button like crazy

Pip
lol
you know that there's a skip mode, right?

shame on u thrice

I only saw something like auto mode

Pip
LOL when the game starts up, it shows "pygame window" instead of the name of the game for a second

anyway
the game being 4chan spawn only proves there's enough decent and intelligent people there

12:07 AM
you mean people with way too much time on their hands

I'm still amazed at how they got all the graphics
and the 1+ hours of soundtrack
that is also quality music

Pip

whoops

Pip
:P

and what does it do
it skips to the next choice
that would be nice

Pip
12:09 AM
skips through the text until you come to the next new choice.

I wish I was able to skip back a choice at the end of my path :(
man I screwed up, and I still don't know why

Pip
part of the game :P

all of the other paths make sense
especially the endings
except for Hanako's

Pip
Christain is back
hey
@AlexM. I see... don't spoil it

12:10 AM
@Pip no worries

Pip
lol Kenji showed up naked

actually I screwed up my own plan
now you're going to pay attention to Hanako because I mentioned her and you won't make a natural choice :\

Pip
lol
I won't

@Pip I hated the guy, and all of his sequences

Pip
yeah
same

12:11 AM
god I wanted him to die so much

Pip
it IS 4chan tho
:P

he was pretty much useless

Pip
yep

there is a path in which he's not that useless though

@Pip your repo is pretty large

Pip
12:12 AM
I know :P
@AlexM. shhh
@ChristianCareaga It will only get larger, as it evolves

you should add an exe each time you commit, so people without python can try it

Pip
I tried, but i couldn't find a good exe maker for Python 3
except for cx_freeze... which I will try eventually

py2exe doesnt work on 3 dang

Pip
yep

your game works on 2.7 currently

12:14 AM
anyway, I'm off to sleep

Pip
really?
nice

actually there is one part that doesnt

@Pip do it in one sitting if you feel like it, it's short

Pip
@AlexM. good night

it trys to index with a float

Pip
12:14 AM
@ChristianCareaga which part?

in the HUD

I finished it in 2.5 hours

Pip
@ChristianCareaga where? can I have the error message?

just a sec

Pip
@AlexM. I will try, but I still have homework
we'll see

12:16 AM
line 289 in entity.py

Pip
@ChristianCareaga I will look

should be x = str(int(math.floor(self.amount / 10.0) * 10))
then it works

Pip
what is it now?

apparently I need to pass some params to the url
; a ; argh
oauth noonce

12:17 AM
its the above line, thats the changed version

Pip
@ChristianCareaga nvm, I have woorked on that file since the last commit
the line number changed

Pip
I will fix it
fixed
@ChristianCareaga will you test it in Python 2.7 for me after I commit?
going to soon

yeah i could make you an exe if you want

Pip
awesome
could you make one for the current version, with the change? After you do that, I will make it a download, as a production version. Then, I will commit my new features, a secret for now cough fountains cough.
hey @Jovito

12:23 AM
hey
@ChristianCareaga you'll do it with cx_freeze?

I use py2exe
but actually @Pip idk if i can do it

but that's python2 only

im getting errors

Pip
like what?
just read a list off
and I will fix them, if I can

If you want to make an exe out of a Python 3.X program cx_freeze is the way to go.

12:26 AM
@Pip not with your prog, but with py2exe its a tricky bastard

Pip
ah

you should just get it working with cx_freeze

Pip
D:
I will try..... I have no idea where to start, though

it would also make your repo like 10 mb bigger hahaha

Pip
I've never made an exe before
:P

12:28 AM
@Pip

Yeah it's probably alot better than py2exe

Pip
@Jovito thanks

py2exe is for heretics!

does pyinsteller work with 3
nope

hahaha

Pip
12:35 AM
lol
I looked around a lot

Source Engine Modder finally gets his code to work
Worth the wait

Pip
TF2 <3

@AlexM. If you like chiptunes check out fantomek

@Pip did i ever show you Dan's C# game?

Pip
@ChristianCareaga I will take a look :D

Pip
kk
boat_gen.py? Using python too?
I wonder why @ChristianCareaga

#this script is pretty much so I can have a multi-language repo

^^^ haha

Pip
@ChristianCareaga do you know why, other than that?

who knows how dan thinks ahaha

12:53 AM
It's just a script

Pip
lol

Probably to intergrate scripting
with python

Also added a python script to generate the
code for a boat in case I ever want to change it
that what his commit message was

Pip
ah

Invalid URI Scheme. Break time. OAuth Round 2. SOon.

1:03 AM
@Pip yeah thought maybe you would like it, it doesn't get much attention

I'm scared now. First search results for "could not verify ouath request" turns up the bitbucket api

Pip
@ChristianCareaga :D

Pip
1:30 AM
alright, gotta go to bed
cya, all

Okay, C gods. Tell me what dumb thing I'm doing:

`int get_int() {
char buffer[BUFSIZ];
int number;
fgets(buffer, sizeof(buffer), stdin);

if (buffer != NULL) {
number = strtol(buffer, NULL, 10);

if(errno)
return -1;
else
return number;

}
return -1;
}`

mainly: no indentation

I thought back ticks were supposed to be for code
But apparently not.

press the fix code when u edit it
thatll then indent it
@VaughanHilts what is the outcome you get

Basically, I can't check for a valid integer since that check is botched.
Clearly, I am a noob.

1:44 AM
here's the code, indented right:

ey its tbodt
o/

.

int get_int() {
    char buffer[BUFSIZ];
    int number;
    fgets(buffer, sizeof(buffer), stdin);

    if (buffer != NULL) {
        number = strtol(buffer, NULL, 10);

        if(errno)
            return -1;
        else
            return number;

    }
        return -1;
}

looks like i had to manual indent was hoping fix font would do it also

I once saw code with 2 tabs for initial indentation. It also had branching. It was hideous :(

1:46 AM
quite hideous

am i the only one who is uncomfortable with if statements without {}

first, why would buffer be NULL?
there is really no reason

Isn't it null when it fails?

oh there are lots of reasons

no
you declared the buffer

1:47 AM
If a read error occurs, the error indicator (ferror) is set and a null pointer is also returned (but the contents pointed by str may have changed).

nobody will change your pointer to it

for a start, you never actually initalize'd buffer

well, it is stack declared
so it exists

so
it exists, but itll contain bullshit

whats BUFSIZ

1:48 AM
if you're lucky

is that a variable ?
or some inbuilt function

BUFSIZ I think is a macro
he doesn't think a user will enter a line longer than BUFSIZ

if you're really unlucky it wont contain a \0 which will be entertaining

ok...

he might be adding user input validation later @tbodt

1:49 AM
@MattD That explains my -12246028438784662-42366471-17718587285882442-183682212-98603871-2633301670738723-137818747302265491686423121112224-292419577234969-25868902-96046821-31515049-17489729-456565118037208-216718091059442365247868-56271365-24879887-2839647533384044582669454916083837867970-13984508-49618747-1223637234014349-39369289-25051363841965982529-42696750-35225984-3589929021047809-35776-30277262220147842027520920693146-2436391250656829294832-4309349-281542721954762327623200-31754918-22803464-15733697326130482012186312809132317600452650189420284708-1739935122070462-18753018-28864502-

yes. because buffer is full of crap. :P
buffer will never be null though
itll always exist

omahgerd

Isn't it being written to by fgets anyway?

it just wont always have anything useful in it

I thought fgets was assinging to buffer

1:49 AM
you'll have to read the docs for fgets

how can you check its usefulness though

it is not assigning to buffer
it is writing to what buffer points to

Aw crap

@VaughanHilts what?

It takes a pointer to it
Just looked at the prototype
So arrays are always pointers, then?

1:51 AM
and yes @tbodt is right. if you think about what buffer is. its just a contiguous block of memory you've declared. its on the stack as its function local. and when you use fgets, it writes into that block of memory
an array is just a contiguous block of memory

yes arrays are pointers
pointers to a contigous block of memory
so no, you don't need to pass a pointer

ugh, okay so what I did was created a block of 512 bytes, and then got a pointer to it

just pass buffer
yes

they're not really pointers.

well, yess...

1:52 AM
its just that the name of the array means the start of the block
and then you offset using that location
so you got the memory location of the start of your 512bytes

Okay, so I killed th eif.
strtol should be OK, though.

str functions are hideous
be careful
use strn functions always

I didn't see any strn functions that convered to integer

that's because there are none
strtol is correct

oh right. yeah
<_< i couldnt remember what srttol did >_>

1:55 AM
I just finished looking over the code, and it looks just fine
except buffer will never be NULL

The main problem I was having is if I type 'a'
I get '0' for number
but errno is not set

fgets will return the length written right?

@MattD no
it returns the buffer you passed

Too bad I need the value 0 as a valid input

@tbodt its been a while since i delt with stuff like fgets.

1:57 AM
my advice:
write a function that checks if the string you pass is a number
not very hard

i use c# these days for anything that needs to open files and stuff

C, making life harder than it needs to be. >_<
@tbodt strtol is supposed to do that for you

well, its crap at dealing with strings
its pretty handy at everything else

at least c++ has std::string

1:59 AM
EINVAL
WHY THE FUCK DID NOBODY ELSE MENTION THIS

strtol converts until it sees an invalid character

yeah, I need to prevent things like '12a' as well
fuu-

so, strtol is really not the best man for the job
it will silently accept "12a" as 12
but there is one thing you can do

you could write your own, it wouldnt be that hard.
as long as you dont need to deal with unicode

declare a char * set it to NULL
then pass that as the second argument
if it got changed, there are some letters in the string

2:01 AM
Actuall
strol to has a pointer to the last thing it stopped at
I could make use of that, I guess
oh wait
That's what you mean

I really need to go write some c++ this weekend

I'm getting BS about EINVAL not being defined
rages

@VaughanHilts so include errno.h
that is not a problem

I wish the man page would list that as the header
.. a gives errno 0 -_-

2:38 AM

Q: Splitting a sandwich and feeling not deceived

VividDThis is a problem that has haunted me for more than a decade. Not all the time - but from time to time, and always on windy or rainy days, it suddenly reappears in my mind, stares at me for half an hour to an hour, and then just grins at me, and whispers whole day: "You will never solve me..." P...

some people have too much time on their hands

3 hours later…
5:21 AM
@Dave indeed

5:51 AM
morning
Lol, in popular finnish comedy tv show there is a character that is mocking hipsters. Now every single hipster in finland is mocking that character and saying it's not hipster.
I find that funny

6:33 AM
Would you guys read a comic called pointer theory.

user4704
The name is not that important.

Okay
how about
dammit
; _ ;
I'll just call it null_ptr or something fancy like that
:> I SHALL UNVEIL soon.
Meanwhile Grey goes back to coding Legrande and OAuth 1.0 issues.
It's weird how BitBucket uses this when it has known vulnerabilities

6:53 AM
; _ ; I hate crazy dreams.
Lol - the one I had today was INSANE.
20 years into the future insane.

1 hour later…
8:01 AM
Hi all

Quick question: Does my site load successfully for you? (And, like, legibly? No obviously missing css or anything?) vectorstorm.org

no, looks broken

Interesting. It looks fine to me, but it looks broken on gtmetrix and other sites which will show previews.

Uncaught ReferenceError: WPGroHo is not defined

8:03 AM
Thanks for testing that, @Lasse. Now I have to figure out what's going wrong. :(

@Trevor ey
Finally got my OAuth working. I was adding redudant params to the url
Finally took a look at the request url and realized that it was already generating some stuff for me.

little streching problems
I wonder how that should be handled

@TrevorPowell Works fine for me

@William'MindWorX'Mariager I've temporarily disabled the problematic bits. Gimme a mo. ;)

8:10 AM
Okay. Test again, @Lasse? (And William and whoever else)

Still works fine. :)

Looks working

Awesome! Thanks. :) Been wrestling with that for the last day or so. xD
Now maybe I can get back to making games or something, instead of all this IT work.

(Was on an international flight, only to discover upon landing that my website had gone down and wouldn't boot up again. Got to deal with unresponsive tech support. Eventually ended up recovering stuff mostly on my own, migrating to a new VM, and then migrating to a new VM with a new hosting provider. That's pretty much been the only thing I've done this week)
Various websites, a few years' worth of e-mail, my issue tracking software, etc. Makes me wonder why I don't just use externally-managed cloud services like everybody else. Would be heaps simpler.
Hm. I'm going to have to take part in the Winter GameJam this year, aren't I? After arguing that non-web games should be allowed and having people agree to it. ;)

8:23 AM
I need to participate too

I haven't released a game in two years, I think. Very sad. :(

I haven't in like 10 years
now it's time to

..oh wait. No, my last one was Dec 31, 2012. So that's only a little over one year ago.

@TrevorPowell I haven't released a game ever, so I think you're doing alright. :P

I'm totally going to finish my huge long-term project this year. Gonna do it. :)

8:39 AM
I'm rooting for you!

I am failing to get rid of that streching :(
I calculated the distance in between the bezier curve points and using that as scalar of the texture coordinates, but that didn't work or I calculated something wrong
hmm.. maybe if..
