 The Base Camp

Nothing running?
Jun 29, 2018 13:02
yeah, as long as they hide those short little legs
Jun 29, 2018 07:18
If humans have a neck twice the length as their legs, we will be having 1.5m+ necks, or 10cm legs. Neither is very ideal. Just saying. :x
Jun 29, 2018 07:17
Once they start walking on the land ... well ... they are still cool animals. But it's just a bit weird for an animal to have a neck twice the length of their legs.
Jun 29, 2018 07:15
Swans are gorgeous creatures ... when they are in the water.
Jun 28, 2018 13:34
I am using the example of shark in the ocean to show you an example of unreasonable fear.
Jun 28, 2018 13:31
@RoryAlsop Your argument is invalid!
Jun 28, 2018 13:31
Many people use gas stoves, many people drives. But much more die from traffic accidents.
Jun 28, 2018 13:30
Lighting campfire is unsafe, ocean swim is unsafe, multiday hikes in the snow is unsafe. So is using gas stove. But hey, guess what kills more people - driving!
Jun 28, 2018 13:27
Google will show you many examples of people die while hiking, so should people stop hiking?
Jun 28, 2018 13:26
The truth is that, you are outdoors, millions of things can kill you. People can only take precautions.
Jun 28, 2018 13:25
I have already said precaution should be made while using a stove.
Jun 28, 2018 13:25
You make the claim, you need to back it up with statistics. Not me.
Jun 28, 2018 13:18
It's almost like urban myth that claims many people have been eaten by sharks every year. The truth is that, there really aren't that many sharks interested in eating people.
Jun 28, 2018 13:16
@RoryAlsop Also please provide statistics when making such a claim.
Jun 28, 2018 13:15
@RoryAlsop Millions if not billions of people use gas stoves in enclosed dwellings. Apartments & houses generally has less ventilation than a tent, especially in winter. Some people like to keep windows and doors closed at all times when it's cold.
Jun 28, 2018 08:26

I have a lot bird videos :D
Jun 27, 2018 13:04

Jun 27, 2018 13:02
Still burning fuel is the most efficient way to heat up a tent quickly.
Jun 27, 2018 13:01
@StrongBad Heaters work the same way as stoves - by converting chemical energy into heat energy. But has bigger surface definitely help to dissipate heat more evenly.
Jun 27, 2018 12:59
@Ricketyship tents are full of holes - if you can use open gas to cook in an enclosed home, you can use it in a tent
Jun 26, 2018 13:47
And the energy released by burning 0.5kg of Methylated Spirits is the same as putting a 15kg rock heated to 500 degrees. But you would be crazy to put a 15kg 500 degree rocks in your tent.
Jun 26, 2018 13:42
If you put more people into a small tent, that will warm it up for sure. But it will take at least an hour for the effect to be noticed.
Jun 26, 2018 13:41
Energy released while burning Methylated Spirits: 30 kJ/g
Jun 26, 2018 13:41
Heat Capacity: Average Rock 2000 J/(kg x K)
Jun 26, 2018 13:37
@StrongBad I am not saying using a stove in a tent is ideal, but seriously using red hot rocks inside a tent?? How many people you have to stuff into that tent to quickly warm it?
Jun 25, 2018 13:43
I would like to learn voters' experience in winter camping ...
Jun 25, 2018 13:42
Seriously?? Fuel stove/heater to warm a tent too dangerous??

A: How To Quickly Warm A Tent

TelKittyThe question is how to quickly warm a tent. Answer is: use the most efficient way to turn material into heat energy, which will speedily bring up the temperature in the tent. I have used a fuel stove to warm the air inside the tent before, the draw back on this is that you need to bring extra ...
