@Ricketyship Thanks so much! This is awesome!!! I hope everybody else looked at it too. There are some fascinating birds, native to areas I've never seen. India especially has some fascinating residents and migrators. The dark robin really surprised me. I have to spend some time learning about it. Too bad I already wrote a "difference between american and european robin" question. It would have been more interesting if I asked about all the various kinds of robin.
It's been a long day and I really appreciate the uplift!
I didn't know you had a blog. There's some lovely stuff there.
@gerrit I've started to look a little and can't quite get a feel for those sites. I'll have to spend more time. One thing I always like to do on a new site is read the meta questions. I learn a lot that way. Much of what I learn is how many of the site of "our type" have the same problems!
Vegan is very hard. I totally respect it but it requires a lot of work.
I consider you less of a hypocrite than me. I'm kidding, I don't consider you a hypocrite at all! At least you don't eat meat! Do you have to work hard to balance the nutritional stuff, or is it just second nature? Have you been a vegetarian for a long time? Is it common in the region where you live?
@TestingChatbot, I just did !!pingable and enter, and nothing happened. I'm probably still doing it wrong!
So I'll do the old fashioned way!
Hi to all my friends, @Aravona, @ab2, @imsodin, @CharlieBrumbaugh, @StrongBad, @WedaPashi, @Willeke, @Ricketyship, @RoryAlsop, @TelKitty, @Liam, @gerrit and to those I forgot. Hope you're all well!
@Willeke-Huge congratulations on your new mod position!!! I know you'll be awesome! I was able to upvote you and @RoryAlsop initially but I didn't have enough rep for the final phase. That's a good rule though, so that not everyone can vote without having any sense of the site. @RoryAlsop, I hope you're not disappointed. I still think you're an extremely awesome moderator, and I know we all feel that way.
@Willeke, I hope it doesn't mean we won't see much of you here.
@ab2, thanks for the bird answer. Wow, is he cute!!! And he's fascinating scientifically. I've been doing some reading about him. If you don't mind, I think I might pop a few pictures into your answer. I imagine you'll be okay with that, but let me know if you're not!

The first is one of our hundreds of rabbit and friends pictures! The second is a very young red squirrel from last year. That's a regular sized hose nozzle and it was a perfect napping place for him.
The bottom is an adolescent born a few months earlier, and is part of proof that some animals, including chipmunks, tend not to eat marigolds. The hold by the bunnie's foot is from a snapdragon I planted. It lasted about two days before a chipmunk dug it up and relocated it to a different part of our garden. He preferred his landscaping to mine, or it could have been the yummy grubs underneath!
@ab2, Off the top of my head I can't remember if it was you who answered my question about a heated birdbath. (I'm too tired to go check.) The one I found was perfect! Our winter included record cold spells, record heat spells and everything in between. It stayed happily at 35 degrees never cracking, and recently supported the weight of a huge gorgeous raccoon! I've got to update that question, because it was genuinely helpful!
@CharlieBrumbaugh, I've been doing some research on your alcohol visibility question. I don't camp so it would only come from searched sources, but I haven't been able to find anything. I'll keep it up if I don't see any answers from a person who's done it! I did find someone who uses green food coloring to make sure they don't drink the alcohol, but it doesn't change the color of the burning flame. Very interesting question, and obviously important!!!

@Sue -- Sure, download a pic or two to the hibernating bird answer. I'll check on the heated birdbath Q later. I went over 10,000 rep last night! Nice little glow!
@ab2 Which one is this?
12:27
@ab2 nice. Just checked your profile. Apparently are neighbors. I am in DC.

@Ricketyship tents are full of holes - if you can use open gas to cook in an enclosed home, you can use it in a tent
@StrongBad Heaters work the same way as stoves - by converting chemical energy into heat energy. But has bigger surface definitely help to dissipate heat more evenly.
Still burning fuel is the most efficient way to heat up a tent quickly.
if you like birds ... and not entirely self promotion >_<
I have a lot bird videos :D
mainly because we feed them

@TelKitty a catalytic heater does not require combustion unlike a stove and most propane heaters. A stove/combustion based heater has CO as a natural by product but catalytic heaters produce CO2 when working correctly. I would not describe them as the same at all.

@Ricketyship Which one is what? I went over 10K with this Q: outdoors.stackexchange.com/questions/19785/…. HIernating bird Q: outdoors.stackexchange.com/questions/19752/…. @Sue on heated birdbaths outdoors.stackexchange.com/questions/14611/…, but I left a comment
Oh hey @ab2 congratulations on the 10k. I was referring to the hibernate question :)
17:12
@All, thanks for the congratulations.
@Sue, I expect to be in here a bit more regular than before, if maybe a bit less active on busy with mod days.
@Ricketyship, I love your blog posts. All are different but all are good.
Hey thanks @Willeke! I'm really thankful to you that you read them :)
Is English your 'home' language or did you only learn it in school?
Or a home language/
Oh I learned at school. I speak a language called Kannada at home.
It's the language of the state where I live in.
Then it is even more impressive, as you do write in a learned language.
personally I do not see anything impressive in that :) but thanks anyway :)

Just browsing on Science Fiction SE and there is a user there who has a rep of 357,000. What is the highest rep on SE? How many people have broken 1,000,000?
Stack overflow, John Skeet, 1035k
He is the only one there with over 900k
#2 and #3 are at 806 and 803.
19:02
@ab2 There are Jon Skeet memes as well

Q: Jon Skeet Facts

Bill the LizardI'm looking for Chuck Norris Facts style answers. In case anyone is curious, this question was inspired by Jon's own comment to this question. EDIT: If you're into cryptography, you may enjoy these facts. Now with official sanction from the powers that be!

@Ricketyship Weird! I like it. 'Jon Skeet can recite π. Backwards." Even better than the graffito that for years was on an elevator at MIT: "Pi equals 3 for small circles."
I am going, good night / have a good day

People arguing for mandatory comments on downvotes are really arguing for getting rid of downvotes.
