@HelkaHomba But that's just kinda the weird nature of a VP debate. Even if pence was kicking kaine's butt the whole night, if someone hates trump it's a moot point. And vice versa.

If he didn't have to constantly defend Trump (which he didn't try very hard to do imo), he would've done better imo. It wasn't so much "I hate Trump so Pence was bad", but "Pence had a hard job cut out for him".
