Maybe Kit has kittles.
And bits.
Got bits and kits.
Bitzenqvitz.

huh. i had no idea my state consumed so much brandy, and even less idea that WI was ahead of us

True, ’tis true.

Brandy and sour. Brandy and seven. Brandy and coke. Brandy on the rocks. Brandy and eggnog. Brandy slush. Brandy Alexander. Brandy neat.

Brandy and Monica.

What happened to her neck?

It got specially effected.

don't ever ask what has happened to celebrity necks
not if you value your sanity

Zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.
@JSBձոգչ Wasn’t that Marie Antoinette’s question?

@ЯegDwight She is so cute.
I'd share a man with her anytime.

145 helpful flags on SO, and I just started. Marshal isn’t as far away as I’d imagined.

1:09 PM
@Kit meh. not my type.

@KitFox Why bother with the man then? :)

@tchrist Because that's what the song is about.

Oh.
I didn’t dare clicky.
My experience is that men tend to get in the way of such things.

Well, then.

There are only so many apertures.

1:10 PM
@KitFox why would you share a man with a cute girl?

I find that men have very little effect on my ability to click.
@ЯegDwight Why wouldn't I?

@tchrist it's an official video clip. All over your MTVs. Don't be a chicken.
@KitFox because if she's uglier than you, you'll have the man all to yourself. If she's cuter than you, you'll sit in the corner alone.

@ЯegDwight I have never had that happen.

"Don't be chicken, get with the clickin'" the refrain of evil link purveyors everywhere

When he’s done and passed out, then she has her all to herselves.

1:13 PM
Do I really need to draw a diagram?
It's not that difficult.

no drawing diagrams in this chat

more drawing diagrams in this chat!

If it's not that difficult to draw the diagram, why are you complaining?

Sententially, please.

The bisentennial man.

Chief Buffalo X.
I’m so glad the Constitution guarantees our right to free-association.

I've got a meeting, so I've got to go. Also, hot tea and scones, if anyone wants some.

How does migration work? Does it require unanimity in closing? Matching tags? Something else?

user19161
1:19 PM
@tchrist It requires mod attention.

No, not always.
If there are five close-belongs-on-FOO.se, then off it goes.

Unanimity, no. Majority, yes.

I’d swear I’ve closed things with 3 belongs-on votes and they didn’t go.
Do tags have to match?

Were there belongs-on-something-else votes?

No.
3 for the same belongs-on.

1:21 PM
no. we get untagged things from other sites

Hm. Strange.
Perhaps they've changed it.

Oh that’s right, there’s an tag, isn’t there?

.... an untagged tag

the system automatically adds if there are no other tags on a question

1:22 PM
what a contradiction

it's a paradox, but it's quite functional

it would be like if databases stored the string "NULL" in records in order to indicate that the record is null

user19161
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Long time no see.

@WillHunting yeah, how have you been

Russell's paradox again, eh?

1:23 PM
you aren't allowed to submit a question without a tag. however, if mass-deletion of the only tag on a question happens at some point, then the tag gets added
it makes it straightforward to later search for those tags

you know that little down arrow, on the left of a chat message? you can drag that to the chat box for quick quoting

In the foundations of mathematics, Russell's paradox (also known as Russell's antinomy), discovered by Bertrand Russell in 1901, showed that the naive set theory created by Georg Cantor leads to a contradiction. The same paradox had been discovered a year before by Ernst Zermelo but he did not publish the idea, which remained known only to Hilbert, Husserl and other members of the University of Göttingen. Let R be the set of all sets that are not members of themselves. If R qualifies as a member of itself, it would contradict its own definition as a set containing sets that are not member...
@MattЭллен men use keyboards. Dragging is for queens.

@JSBձոգչ Seems to me it would make it just as easy to search for untagged messages if there was an untagged operator for search, and the rest of the system just didn't care about untaggedness
@ЯegDwight you misspelled "iPhones"

"an untagged operator for search" <-- because that is completely intuitive and easily discoverable

Indeed it does.

@JSBձոգչ well, it would be a button on the tag page that brings up the list of questions

@ЯegDwight Wait, did Russell have a moustache?

The SO mods are really hopping today. Not-an-answers get three flags, a mod comment, and a mod deletion, all in the space of three minutes.

The Jack Russell terrier is a small terrier that has its origins in fox hunting. It is principally white-bodied smooth, rough or broken-coated which is commonly confused with the Parson Russell terrier (the American Kennel Club (AKC) and affiliate variant) and the Russell terrier (a shorter legged, stockier variety, whose name within the Fédération Cynologique Internationale is "Jack Russell terrier"), with the term "Jack Russell" commonly misapplied to other small white terriers. The Jack Russell is a broad type, with a size range of , the Parson Russell is limited only to a middle range...

@WillHunting I think he had a crow.

3 minutes after posting, that is.
Which is quite responsive.

@tchrist so that's why I'm still sitting on some 20 flags this late in the day.

1:28 PM
I still have 21 left, but the day is young.
Up to 149 helpful.
You have to hit reload on not-an-answer pretty quickly.
They’re on it.

I just found one that's one day old.

I found one of those earlier today.
Slackers.

A: TCPDF last page footer height

ddaycant help with you spacing problem but you help me a lot with your post here! I searched for a way to change the content of my footer depending on which page I currently am. The biggest problem was to figure out when the footer of the last page got generated! Because the internal attribute $num...

Well, he's late, big surprise.

The best time to flag, for me, is between 10 and 11 a.m. Then the mods are collectively asleep.

Zulu?

1:31 PM
Anyone know why my jQuery checkbox checking is not behaving?

@tchrist that's the one I just flagged!

Ah.

^ reasons to move to Australia

No Zulu.

@KitFox has it had too many E numbers?

1:32 PM
@JSBձոգչ reminds me of that lovely blog, Aussies in Sweden... that was fun.

@JSBձոգչ rofl
Ach. Now he's here. Laters for realz.

user19161
@JSBձոգչ Your handwriting?

@WillHunting no, on a blog i was just reading

@KitFox CU 4 reel
Bourbon is very expensive in Oz? hmmm.

1:35 PM
@JSBձոգչ Like.

> silence is fun
I'm not Swedish
so this must be universally true

> hugging is reserved for sexual foreplay

dirty, dirty swedes

Hugging in which situations?

Sexual situations.

1:40 PM
In what other situations do non-Swedes hug?

What's the deal with the gravatars in the rep leagues?

I do it to console or be consoled after a catastrophe.

@Cerberus with friends? Strangers? Bears? Beers?

Do you normally hug friends?

Sure.
I'm not a Swede.

1:41 PM
I don't.

user19161
I love Ikea.

user19161
Ikea has nice furniture and meatballs.

Some people insist on doing it when I haven't seen them for a long time.
But it's not exactly standard.

@WillHunting They are planning a whole city in Germany.

I hug friends

1:42 PM
When?

user19161
@ЯegDwight Ah, I guess I will see it in my next life, since I hope to be reborn there!

when I see them. close friends, though.

I see.

I don't hug the people I work with

There's also the man-hug, which is...I don't know, not exactly common either.

user19161
1:43 PM
I only hug my pillow.

Mostly when people are a bit drunk.

user19161
@Cerberus What is a manhug?

They involved shoulders touching and a pat on the back.
One shoulder touching, rather.

@Cerberus Depends on the company you keep.

Then there is a the gay kiss.
It is annoying, but too common to ignore.

1:45 PM
@WillHunting No h0m0pr0n in this chat.
@Cerberus It’s too wet to ignore.

user19161
@Cerberus OK, I kiss you!

Who the hell thinks that it’s too cold to have a conversation at 17 degrees?
Or that you can’t eat ice cream no matter the temperature?

Not Swedes.

None of those things would ever occur to me.

Well, which part of "Aussies in Sweden" do you not understand?

1:47 PM
And I’m only half Danish.
Oh right, soft flaccid slackerwimps.
I sentence them to a winter on the Apostle Islands. Starting in late September.

@tchrist It's not wet. At least it's not that.

It’s a national park on the north coast of Wisconsin.
@Cerberus Intrusiveness, or obsequiousness?

A peck on the cheek.

Was Mike Myers ever an ELU mod?
@Cerberus Bad foreplay, then.

It's not even that either.

1:50 PM
I thought was a Frenchish kiss.

Again, a different kiss.

@tchrist yes, pro-tem.

What about the double-cheeked kiss?

Yeah, triple is now standard here. Very annoying.
Southern influences.

I’d feel manhandled.
And not in a good way.

user19161
1:53 PM
I think kisses and hugs and handshakes don't serve any purpose.

user19161
They only spread bacteria!

Germ transmission.

I'm talking men and women.

jinx

@WillHunting human contact is a noble purpose.

1:53 PM
@Cerberus I’m a man, thus I would feel manhandled.

Q: crisscross, dillydally, riffraff, etc

Axel NeumannSome English words only differ in their vowels: crisscross, dillydally, riffraff, etc. Is there a name for them?

I don't think there are any diseases here that you can catch from a peck on the cheek...

Thanks to the super collider, John now has a 24 score.
Which will never be accepted.

@tchrist You don't kiss women on the cheek?

user19161
@JSBձոգչ It is contact of the heart that is noble. Contact of the body is merely a vehicle of expression of that. Sometimes the means to an end becomes the end itself, and the true end is forgotten.

@Cerberus Not those ones, no. :)

1:54 PM
Which ones, then?

Silly.

@WillHunting bullshit. the heart and the body are one.

I’m not a hunter-n-pecker. Go for the gusto, or don’t bother.

Here one kisses female friends on the cheek, always.

user19161
@JSBձոգչ See edit.

1:55 PM
Is this not standard in your country?

Sybarites!
Still sybarites!

user19161
I usually say "I don't shake hands" when people wanna shake with me.

@WillHunting i still oppose the Cartesian opposition between heart and body.

@cerb I wanted tea but the cafe required a code

user19161
@JSBձոգչ Cartesian is too deep for me, I only use it in coordinates.

1:57 PM
@WillHunting what i mean is: there is no fundamental distinction between the body and the heart/soul/mind, so to make an opposition between what you do with your body and what you do with your heart is meaningless obfuscation

No, you absolutely don’t go around kissing people here like that.

user19161
@tchrist Kiss!

@simchona What? What is this about?

You would soon find yourself on the wrong end of a sexual harassment suit.

@JSBձոգչ Hmm is that orthodox?

1:59 PM
@Cerberus quite

Funny.

how so?

user19161
@tchrist Sometimes, the wrong end becomes the right end.

All religions I know seem to make the distinction.

Or simply slapped.

1:59 PM
Mind ≠ body.
