@avazula Yep, but I was in bed early, so that's fine I guess? What is less fine is how nauseous I feel. Thankfully, I'm on sick leave today and for the next week too. So, I have some time to get better
@El'endiaStarman I've put everything on lock. Thanks for letting us know, and sorry about the delay. There'll be only two of us until the end of the week, and we're both in Europe (this was past my bed time :p)
@Ælis did you visit the doctor? I'm sorry to hear you're sick :/
@avazula The mental health one, yes. It's because my new drug for depression and anxiety hasn't kick up yet, so I mostly didn't eat this past week (force feeding myself is no fun) and I'm also exhausted and I guess I might catch a virus soon (because my body is weak from all that)
How to initiate a conversation with a person who recently had transition but you were not in touch with them?
I had a family friend/classmate/neighbor who I am not in touch with for more than a decade and we were never friends but on friendly terms in childhood. Two years back I got to know that...
It's kind of annoying when you're looking for financial advice or something. "You need to save up for your pension!!!111!!!1". I'm not American, I'm fine, thank you.
My workplace doesn't work with pension funds, but rather has a personal pension savings account for each employee. We're allowed to add money from the paycheck into the account, and it's deductable. So that's pretty nice
@AGirlHasNoName The current system in the Netherlands is untenable. The idea is that people pay a premium into a fund, and that same fund is paying out to the people that are already retired. The remainder is invested and used as a buffer. Practically, employees of today are paying for the retirees of today, not for their own pensions.
With aging population, that balance is going away
it's becoming more and more expensive
combine that with bad market returns, and the system is ****ed
I bought 4 hoodies/sweaters last week... I'll be mailing them all back. 2 were too long, the other two I didn't even try on because 1 was see-through and the other has a silver glitter thread (where I thought it'd be just grey)... Welcome to winter shopping!
@AlexRobinson We had a heatwave over here this summer. My brother worked at the zoo, where they have this big jungle greenhouse. Near the roof, they hit temperatures of 70 degrees C. Still not to hot for a hoodie? :P
how good is quora as a backup? IPS and quora can use each other's answers as references and make profit.. In the end it's just opinions backed by other opinions.
(This was like really close to the glass, of course further down temperatures were lower. But I honestly believe you could've fried an egg on the outside of that roof)
typically download is more useful as day to day we don't upload huge files but will download (cache) huge videos, social media etc... having a higher upload is weird
It's fairly accurate. There's no exact science to this but the vast majority of crawlers won't influence the number. The logic used is very similar to tracking actual visits to the site for participation-based badges.
And when I say vast majority of crawlers, I'm leaving room for academic setti...
PII and irrelevant info from their wall of text can be reviewed and removed(That's what OP wanted too.. but went on to try to delete it).. It's on homepage already
the rest of the question is really good and helpful
ik it will be in edit history.. but anyone of their friends might not be familiar with that feature and will not find out that OP posted something about them.
@ankii We're taking care of it from now on. We've heard the user's requests and asked the CMs for advice on the following steps. Thanks for reporting, things are now resolving themselves in the background, don't worry :)
My partner and I are looking at new cars, I am a software developer and she is a fundraiser for a non-profit org, and we share a vehicle to commute work. Recently we started looking for new cars, specifically at an electric Tesla 3, it's a in our price range, but she has raised concerns about sho...
Eh I wouldn't call it intrapersonal. It's not trying to change the way they feel or act internally. It's just...not really involving any interpersonal interaction. And it's opinion based.
They're trying to build a supermarket in town, but it's not working out. Important people are blocking the permits. Because "a supermarket will stop tourists from coming to town centre". Tourists will still come to town centre if there's a supermarket in town...
Tourists are not all there is! There's people living here too!
I'll stop my rant about how much tourists in my hometown frustrate me before it gets too bad :P
@AlexRobinson Well, if you have sleep to catch why don't you want to catch it up during your free time? Or are you afraid you won't be able to sleep at night afterward?
it just kinda sucks because sleep feels like a "chore"... its something i have to do when i'd rather be doing other stuff - i don't get that much free time to begin with
one of my friends got a signed book from Randall Monroe - the XKCD guy. It read "go to bed sometimes, there will still be strangers being wrong on the internet in the morning" and I think we all need to remember that sometimes
@NogShine After re-reading my post and adding the two missing words >< May I ask if it was a joke from you or if you think I was serious when I posted that?
We have a weekly donut day and recently all of the jelly donuts have been consumed before I have a chance to take one by a certain co-worker. How do I confront him about this / improve the donut fairness problem?
@AGirlHasNoName thanks! right now we are just sitting in a cabin deciding whether we want to go out since it's a bit gloomy and cold :P but the leaves are pretty!
Wow, one of the answers under my MSE question was so bad I couldn't even read it in full. If you want something to downvote or flag, it's over here: meta.stackexchange.com/a/335947/400547
@user58 I have noticed you have list "they/them" as your pronouns. You use to say that you didn't care (as long as it wasn't "it"), is it not true anymore? In my head, on IPS, I tend to "gender" you as "she" but more as "they" in TAS, I would like to know if I should "they" you everywhere from now on?
@Belle thanks for introducing me to this page! It's so awesome to get them in good condition, and share such lovely pictures for adoption. I won't understand the language.. but I am going to follow this page.
And do update us! if it is some sort of test, good luck!
