@dhein Haha sorry buddy! I just don't feel like using a templating scheme on the server side... I'd rather use AJAX to retrieve JSON responses to the client hehe
Have you considered just loading up their stuff and delivering it to them? I know that feels like you are doing extra work but at least then it would be settled. At least for big stuff like the computer... for dish soap, I'd just use it myself. — DaveG1 min ago
When I'm reviewing "Low Quality Posts" what criteria am I looking at for "Recommend Deletion"? I'm looking at one specific answer right now, and I personally can't see anyway of editing it because its so short and the grammar is too difficult to decipher the poster's greater meaning. I guess the answer-er always has the ability to edit it to fix it completely... but would deleting it (possibly indicating to them that it just needs completely reworked) be appropriate?
Yes, that would be appropriate. In general, try to hold it against the points outlined here: interpersonal.meta.stackexchange.com/q/3266/1599. (now, they're not some kind of rule book, but they do indicate what may or may not lack in an answer).
Thanks! :) Also, is there some sort of "master wiki" or post that has a collection of different really valuable meta-posts? I see posts like these referenced all the time and it would be helpful if I knew which ones to reference when.
I see you guys were talking about Shakespeare. I think there is a nice hardcover book with the title The Complete Works of William Shakespeare which you can get for yourself or for a present to someone else.
@El'endiaStarman My co-worker said there will be a new book soon, something about the worst ways to do things (drying up a river to cross it kinda stuff)
New and intriguing. There's a sentient being living inside of an intergalactic super computer. Said being has the power to teleport objects and people by removing them from the universe and then placing them back inside at another location
@Anilla Not at all. It's in pretty plain English, and the books are relatively short (2-300 pages, mostly). Though I'd advise you to read them in chronological order, as that helps understand the larger story better.
You can perfectly fine read them out of order though: That's what I did when I first snuck one book from the series out of the library ;)
@Rainbacon Hmm, I kind of like that better. For me personally, some types of science fiction can really cringe me out. Like they'll just throw in big sciencey words and somehow conjure up some pseudo-methodology for how it works. That's why I like Star Wars better than Star Trek... they just show things working and don't delve too much into explaining how :P
@Tinkeringbell ahhh sneaky you! I may very well read it this summer. I'm adding ya'll's feedback into a li'l' list I have lol.
I'm big on One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Deep and skillful portrayal of people varyingly able to deal with the world in a specific context of an enormous power imbalance and arbitrary, with arbitrary goals set by an effective dictator
I tend to like any sci-fi, but when I'm in the mood for hard science fiction I really want it (and will read or re-read something like Anathem, Seveneves, or Rama). I'm basically always in the mood for squishier sci-fi, like A Fire Upon the Deep
But I super recommend A Fire Upon the Deep. Fascinating, if a bit uneven
Right now, I am addicted to Stephen Lawhead. :) I've read pretty much almost all his books- two trilogies, a series of five books, and I'm reading book 2 of 3 of another trilogy of his, and I have one or two more left standalones of his
Favorite trilogy- Song of Albion trilogy, it's basically celtic legends weaved into fictional characters. He's also done 5 books on King Arthur and his adventures, and how he came to be. Pretty much three of the five are about merlin
and another trilogy is about Robin Hood and a new twist on the classic story
Me and my gf have been dating for 6 months now. I'm 28 and she's 23. The first 4 months were great but things have taken a turn since. Basically, she has severe anger issues and they've become more and more common. It freaked me out the first it happened because she turns into a totally different...
Getting angry over little stuff is usually a sign of a person being upset about some completely different bigger issue. You should try to find out this actual root cause of this behavior, only then you'll be able to tell if you can do anything about it. It's possible that your girlfriend is not ready for a serious relationship before she gets over that unknown issue. — r3mus n0x1 min ago
