wow, that edit was quick @sphennings, that OP is getting an upvote from me

@NVZ Nah, just being dismissive of your dismissiveness ;)

not sure how I would answer the question though...

I have a confession. I "star" questions to read later. But I never read them. #Sorry

@spiralsucculent I'm not sure that a quick edit warrants an up vote.

Props on wanting to tell the guy. You're taking a stand on your principles, and that's good. If anything, you should have taken that stand a year ago. You've now involved yourself, over the course of a year, into a huge mess from which you will not emerge unscathed, or untarnished. Make no mistake, you shoulder some of the blame for not standing by your principles much earlier in the game. John should have been kicked out, or the affair exposed much earlier. It's shocking that her brother was not the one to make that move, but such is life. Better late than never. Learn from this! — AndreiROM 1 min ago

In all honesty, instead of letting Jane spin her lies you should probably pick up the phone, and tell the guy you need to urgently meet with him right now. Go to a bar, drop the bomb, buy him a drink, and hand him the card to a good divorce lawyer. He'll need all of those things. — AndreiROM 14 secs ago

@sphennings think that the OP did react to your request and did what you asked. That is the core question they wanted answered
I am writing an answer in which I try to stay away from "you should" and keep in "how" territory
we'll see how it turns out

@spiralsucculent Good luck. It seem like a very broad question to me.

Seems like one of those "no good answer" situations, no matter how it's done it's going to be hurtful and destructive...

well yeah
a year of being complicit in an affair, nobody is free of blame except the husband
but the question was "minimize retaliation" not "how do I get out of this squeaky clean"
I write my answers so slowly

Q: How can I alleviate someone's upset feelings when I'm not getting a concept they're explaining?

AnoplexianI've been working on a particular website project with a friend from an old job I had. We started with our idea, and are at the point of going through network security for the login information, but I'm not quite understanding how it all ties into the website and how encryption of usernames and p...

You should be more concerned about your partner's insecurities and what that will mean in a relationship than about the fact that you had a sexual dream. — Thomas Carlisle 2 mins ago

Q: Proposed solution to hit and run questions

apaulFairly often we get a kernel of what could be an interesting, on topic question buried in a not so great post. And fairly often the OP disappears after posting without editing or responding to comments asking for clarification. Needless to say we end up with more than a few dead closed questions...

Thoughts? Waffles, pancakes?

@apaul I'm one of the people who often hit and run on other Stack Exchanges. Interpersonal skills is the only one where I don't, ig

Ok?

Also, what stopped me from hitting and running was when some of the high rep members talked to me about how I should edit it and change it soon after I'd asked
Many new members don't know exactly how the websites work... They feel threatened when they get down/close/delete voted. Not everyone takes constructive feedback positively
When they realize that there are some high rep members that started out as clueless as they are now, they probably stop hitting and running. That's what happened to me.

There's some anecdotal evidence to support that, but it looks like a fairly good portion of the questions I'm talking about were asked and then the OP was never seen again. Plenty of constructive comments, this community tends to be pretty good about that.

Q: What does it mean when a girl doesn't want to text you but keeps messaging you back?

Legion DaethI've been doing online dating for a while now, (in the western US if that matters) and I've noticed something that seems strange to me. I'll talk to a girl, things will go well, I think I'm making it clear I'm not a creep so I offer my number, and they respond 'no thanks' but keep on casually mes...

Umm, when you said "Give our HR person a text . . ." did you give her your number or the number to your HR person at your job? I know I'm missing a lot of context but the snippets you have posted don't actually ask her if she wants to text/call? If you want to text her you should be direct and say if you would like to talk via text here is my number. Messaging and texting do feel very similar to me. If you want to get to know her better you may want to try asking her out to coffee. — Dan Anderson 44 secs ago
