GTA V came out recently. It's quite popular, and has resulted in a humongous traffic boost to Arqade, especially mobile traffic. In fact our mobile traffic was high enough to be over half the mobile traffic of Stack Overflow. That's still small compared to the behemoth itself, but in full proport...
Yes, it's possible to beat the dungeon without making us of the mini-boss teleport. In fact it's actually faster to not use of the teleport. The way you're supposed to get around it is to just take the same route you would use to get to the boss room, and then pushing the block directly across fr...
Ultimately, the "BAN ALL LORE" answer on this particular meta only matters if it's going to result in an actionable change to policy if it ends up as the highly voted answer. I want to make sure it's an actionable change, and not just us flapping our mouths and then nothing happening because it wasn't a clear enough community consensus, or whatever. I think we're both in complete agreement we want something done... my fear was that trying to do it under this meta would be the wrong place to actually see things move forward (other than within the scope of what this meta was about). — Sterno3 mins ago
@OrigamiRobot ping
Deleting it from the meta comments because it's getting bloated.
Jin poked me about picking a couple of questions that we could specifically target with some ads surrounding GTA5 - I kinda poked our highertrafficones but wanted t'know if folks may think any particulars be shinier.
I don't want anyone pointing at the "Ban all lore questions" answer with, say, 30+ upvotes a week from now, and saying "Yeah, but that's not what this was about! This isn't a clear enough consensus! waaaah!"
And if I'm the only one worried about that, then awesome, it's not a real problem.
Two is probably what we'll settle for but we could also eschew the high traffic ones (which already have high traffic as it were) for something more eye-catching.
Most missions in GTA5 have optional mission objectives. Completing them or not determines what medal you receive at the end of the mission (gold, silver, bronze).
So far I have found it quite frustrating to complete a mission only to be told that I didn't get gold because I didn't "headshot 10 b...
"OK, now that we've all decided that we like/don't like lore questions, let's make another meta to make sure for really reals, then a third, then the real vote, then another to confirm the real vote."
The entire problem my meta was about (in my mind, at least) was that we have a close reason that does not match anything discussed anywhere, and which is really hard to reliable enforce, and which is honestly just kind of dumb.
I was specifically trying to avoid whether or not lore questions were on topic, or if they were, how, because I worried that it would result in complete inaction on what I see the current issue to be... closing questions for the wrong reason
@Sterno I'm not saying it is decided. I'm saying this is the chance for that decision to be made clear and now we're just writing it off to another meta.
I totally get where @OrigamiRobot is coming from. he wants the larger issue resolved. I was taking the other approach and trying to fix something I thought was easily fixable.
@OrigamiRobot For what it's worth, I almost asked about lore questions in general, but I wanted this issue out of the way and shown as not a good solution so that it wouldn't just be pointed to as a solution. If that makes any sense. I had bad wording
People seemed to already have an understanding that our current system of "ban it if it's non canon, allow it if is" was working. It was not. I wanted to kind of prove that.
@kalina Get people to come and ask via example, so it's a mixture of both. I haven't particularly looked at those, only threw them out since they were mentioned tangentially as "maybes" (mostly probably because of the titles)
I just got an e-mail saying that my GTAV has arrived at my house (I'm in New Zealand, so it's Tuesday morning).
So in anticipation of happily wasting hundreds of hours of my life I'm going to pre-emptively ask this question.
Every other GTA game has locked out sections of the game map until yo...
@GraceNote I'd say this one for certain, just because out of all of the ones I've looked at it has a multiple line question and a multiple line answer with lots of upvotes:
One of the most interesting elements in GTA5 is the stock market. I understand that often Lester will have assassination missions for the player, such as the one involving the LifeInvader CEO, and was wondering how I could profit off missions such as these? For example, LifeInvader's stock took...
@OrigamiRobot Anyway, in terms of getting this resolved, what if I start a meta right now asking whether or not lore questions should be banned? I mean, I get that you'll find it slightly annoying we have two questions instead of one, but it will move things forward, right?
Former GTA titles always featured some kind of collectable placed at various often hard to reach or somewhat special places throughout the map.
It was flying rats (= pigeons) in GTA 4, horseshoes/oysters in San Andreas, hidden packages in Vice City and GTA 3.
I haven't found or heard of any of...
@OrigamiRobot Yeah, we've got "Can I ask lore questions?", "Some of these lore questions are dumb, what can we do about?" and "This close-reason related to lore questions is stupid and makes no sense"
I just bought Grand Theft Auto 5, and I am looking forward to playing it. But I'd like to know whether any of the old characters make an appearance in the new game.
I know the new game is based around new protagonists, but do any of the old characters (such as Carl Johnson, The Truth, Sweet etc)...
