Tanks can use 3 different paints, for the 3 types of maps, summer, winter and desert.

@Sterno A big part of the problem is the rule has mutated substantially from it's history; Originally, we basically just didn't want questions about tie-in novels and such (and regardless of any other outcome of that Meta, we still don't). The rest of the problem falls under the umbrella of what I call "stupid thought experiments".

@kalina I just get so tired of it always coming up, and people always trying to find a loophole to allow their question. It's not worth the hassle. Especially when we already have another (for some reason) popular site who deals with questions of that... type.
The closest is You should only ask practical, answerable questions based on actual problems that you face. Chatty, open-ended questions diminish the usefulness of our site and push other questions off the front page.
