@fbueckert People still play Starcraft?

@OrigamiRobot I do!

Oh man, I want this to be my screensaver or something burymewithmymoney.com

user15026
@GnomeSlice Screensaver? Do people still use those?

@AshleyNunn No.

Q: Play game on virtualbox

DolerathI would know what you think about playing games on ubuntu with virtualbox. Is it really like a windows installation ? Thanks and sorry for my bad english.

6:01 PM
@AshleyNunn I just like them. =]
hristu.net What the hell is this

Also, yay! I play SC2 more for the story than the multiplayer competitiveness, because they're fun.

@AshleyNunn Some people still have CRTs

user15026
I am not clicking any of your links until I no longer have a migraine, if ever
2

user15026
@OrigamiRobot It's rare that I ever come across someone with one, I guess. :)

6:04 PM
@AshleyNunn A wise decision.

@AshleyNunn Oh, sorry. I'll warn you about all of the clusterfuck ones.

@OrigamiRobot Those people are criminals.

If we still do any gaming grants, we need to do one for SC2.2.

@fbueckert I don't think we do.

@Wipqozn Yeah, I know.

6:04 PM
I just wish tzenes will have a spare moment for that

I find it sad because I could only participate in a single one.

@Wipqozn RIP Gaming Grant

And I didn't win a single thing.

@badp I concur. We need him to bring us amazing HotS content.

Who even goes to the trouble of registering that.

6:06 PM
@GnomeSlice Someone bored. Also, it's not a lot of trouble.

@Wipqozn Here's one you should bookmark nelson-haha.com

@GnomeSlice Ahahaha. Blocked by company firewall. Reason: social networking...

@sjohnston wat

This sums up my experience with the corporate firewall

@fbueckert as in Starcraft?

6:07 PM
@AnnaLear Yes.
It was a funny.
Because it's the second game in the SC2 library.
SC2.2

yes, I got it. Just clarifying for the sake of, well, clarity.

Apparently not a very good funny.

@sjohnston I remember when I was in high school and we weren't allowed to search "sky scraper" because it contained the word "crap".

@AnnaLear Not that I'm in any position to demand a gaming grant. :)
Just thought it would be a good idea.

@sjohnston There's nothing on the page except the text 'NOPE.' which makes it even funnier.
@Wipqozn That's a clbuttic.

6:09 PM
@fbueckert Yes you are. Kidnap @AnnaLear's human. Hold her hostage until you get your gaming grant.

@Wipqozn I DO have a general location...

pleasedonate.biz seems legit.

@Wipqozn My favorite example of this sort of censorship was a filter that changed the word "Assassinate" into Buttbuttinate.

This is certainly interesting, if not a little creepy muchbetterthanthis.com

6:11 PM
@GnomeSlice Also, isitchristmas.com
Not isitchristmasyet.com although that has an amusing title. :P

@Ullallulloo Why does clicking it bring up the source? Does it automatically change to 'yes' on Christmas or something?

@GnomeSlice That brings up an RSS feed for me.
@GnomeSlice However, yes, it does.

@Ullallulloo Oh, it might be an RSS feed for me too
I dunno
It looks like programming of some kind.

@GnomeSlice RSS is just XML.

@fbueckert Yeah, okay, it's that.

6:15 PM
@GnomeSlice XML is a pretty useful programming tool.
Also, @AshleyNunn, have you checked out Kylie Chan yet?

Hey, does this not use flash? hectorsalamanca.com

@GnomeSlice It does not, no.

@ArdaXi wat

@sjohnston Ah, that's clbuttic.

user15026
@fbueckert I haven't. Should i start with the White Tiger trilogy?

6:17 PM
@GnomeSlice JavaScript.

@AshleyNunn Indeed.
I suspect you will enjoy it very much.

user15026
@fbueckert I will see if I can hunt them down :)

It's apparently also a Breaking Bad reference.

@Ullallulloo How useful. An RSS feed that just lists no a couple of times.

@AshleyNunn Along with the rest of Honor Harrington, too. :P

user15026
I really wish that Kobo would let me have like a shopping cart of downloads instead of making me download one book at a time. :(

IT'S NOT EVEN CORRECT

@ArdaXi 364/5 times, to be exact, I would suspect.

@fbueckert Depends. I'd say 363

@AshleyNunn What? You mean 'purchase' or 'download'? I thought mine let me do multiples of both...
Do you use the Kobo desktop app?
@Ullallulloo HAH this one just showed up from here!

6:19 PM
@ArdaXi What day am I missing? 365 days a year, -1 for Christmas, and +1 for leap years.

user15026
@GnomeSlice I am using the web interface, I hate their desktop app. They make you buy a book, then you have to "continue shopping" and buy the next...

Q: Effect of Xbox player reviews?

thebunkWhat effect does an xbox player review have on the reviewed player - does their rep or gamerscore change? Do they see the submitted review?

@fbueckert Boxing Day.

@ArdaXi That's not Christmas.

@Lazers Xbox player review makes no sense.

6:20 PM
That's Boxing Day.

Here, it's considered Christmas.
Hence "I'd say"

@fbueckert Isn't it SC-2-2?

Literally, Boxing Day is called "Second Christmas Day"

Q: Is the 2v2 tag necessary?

ZenoOver in Should I share unit control in Starcrarft 2 2v2? it was tagged with 2v2 which I was unsure about, so I had asked. I understand what it is now, but I looked over all posts under that tag and they all seem to be Starcraft 2. This seems a bit redundant. What are the thoughts on tags like t...

According to mine, something like 80 percent of players I've ever played with had placed negative reviews against me, where the other 20 percent have placed positive ones or none at all.
Which is utter bullshit, almost nobody actually places reviews.

user15026
6:20 PM
@fbueckert Yeah, because of you and @saintwacko I have a HUGE book backload. That hasn't happened to me in a very long time.

user2334
@Wipqozn Yeah that guy's a real jerk.

@bwarner That works, too. Or, we could be sane and call it .

@AshleyNunn :D

@AshleyNunn I can make it even bigger.

user15026
6:21 PM
@fbueckert This is what scares me :P

user15026
And @SaintWacko I totally want to read Libriomancer again, because you reminded me how awesome it was. :P

@AshleyNunn @TrentHawkins goes into book overload if I give him more than one at a time.

Meanwhile, I am reading children's books.

user15026
@fbueckert Ah, see, I can handle it if I can acquire the books.

user15026
@ArdaXi What are you reading?

6:22 PM
Someone linked me to the entire collection of Animorphs ebooks.

user15026
@ArdaXi That is AWESOME and I am jealous.

I am reading them out of nostalgia. It takes me about an hour tops to finish one.

user15026
I have most of the actual books in a box in my mom's attic.

@AshleyNunn They used to be the only thing I ever got from the library.

@AshleyNunn I can't wait til the next one in the series

6:23 PM
@ArdaXi Gordon Korman!

user15026
@ArdaXi I bought a lot of them through the Scholastic book orders my school did, they would often do a ten Animorph books for 10 bucks deal

He was one of the funniest authors ever for me.

@AshleyNunn That is more awesome.

user15026
@SaintWacko I know, right? I am curious how the romantic relationship is going to play out, and I hope there is more awesome fire spider type yay

Oh well. It gives me something to do on my phone other than play silly games. I hate playing games on my phone.

user15026
6:24 PM
@ArdaXi I would totally reread them if I had the chance.

user15026
And didnt have a thousand and one other things to read :P

Hehe. I do, but I'm postponing the reading I need to do.
Just because I hate reading books for the sake of reading books.

user15026
@ArdaXi Oh?

School stuff.

user15026
@ArdaXi I am that way too, which is why being an English student sucks sometimes

6:25 PM
@AshleyNunn And I've got even more books for you once you finish what you have.

user15026
@fbueckert You delight and frighten me with that information.

@AshleyNunn The word "voracious" was coined specifically for me.

user15026
I am so hoping I get a ton of Chapters gift cards for christmas.

user15026
@fbueckert I read like a maniac. I average 250 books in a year. (I used to track it)

@AshleyNunn Yeah, that ought to be interesting

6:27 PM
@AshleyNunn I don't usually keep track. I have no idea how many books I burn through in a year.
I know I spend a crapton of cash on them, though.

user15026
@fbueckert I get a lot from the library, or ebooks from people/torrents

user15026
And I buy a lot.

drunkronswanson.com I can't see anything here =[

@fbueckert I didn't but I know that in the year and half I've been using my Dropbox library, I've read about 500 books

I don't even know who Ron Swanson is

6:28 PM
@AshleyNunn I wonder if Chapters would ever release my purchasing history to me.

@fbueckert That would be interesting

user15026
@fbueckert That would be interesting to see. I mostly buy ebooks now, though, except for like used books.

Ronald "Ron" Ulysses Swanson is a fictional character played by Nick Offerman from the situation comedy television series Parks and Recreation on NBC, created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur. In the series, Ron is the director of the parks and recreation department of Pawnee, Indiana and the immediate superior of series protagonist Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler). A staunch libertarian, Ron is a strong advocate for small government and believes that the parks department should not even exist. Ron, who has an extremely deadpan and masculine personality, actively works to make city hall less ...

@SaintWacko Indeed. Even if I just got it in an email.
I suspect it would be crazy long.

I hate how long roads take to build

user15026
6:28 PM
I buy a lot of books from thrift stores, and church sales and the like

I find it amusing that the screencap it grabbed wasn't of the character.

om nom nom, bacon pizza

@AshleyNunn I buy used books at the SciFi conventions I go to, but that's much more rare than the weekly Chapters visit.

user15026
My favourite though is once a year the library does a big booksale at this giant warehouse where, as I put it "books go to die" - you can fill a reuseable shopping bag for a couple of dollars. Its a good way to fill out some of my older stuff, like early Pern stuff, Acorna, random scifi, early Nora Roberts, etc

user15026
@fbueckert Yeah, I lack the money for such things.

6:31 PM
i just got rep TODAY from an upvote on a question that was closed DAYS AGO. What gives?

@AshleyNunn I get stuff like that at the church garage sale

you can still vote on closed questions?

user15026
But you make me want to come to your house and hide among your bookshevles like a crazy library mouse and read everythng

@Ender Yes.

user15026
@SaintWacko Yeah, they are awesome for that sort of thing

6:31 PM
@AshleyNunn That is certainly possible.

I think it's actually time to pick up another bookshelf or two.

@Wipqozn that seems odd but i suppose it makes sense in helping others decide to re-open

But I'm not exactly sure where I can put them; my living room has four of them already.

I picked up some really cool old WWII books at the last one

user15026
6:32 PM
@fbueckert I would make cupcakes! And...that's really all I can offer. :P

user15026
@SaintWacko That's awesome. I picked up some kids books from the 40s at a sale, they are quite awesome.

user15026
@fbueckert In the kitchen!

user15026
In the bathroom!

user15026
In the hallways!

@AshleyNunn No space!

user15026
6:32 PM
In the closets!

@AshleyNunn Really no space!
@AshleyNunn They're really narrow!
@AshleyNunn That...might actually work.

user15026
@fbueckert Hm, you are making this tricky.

But then they don't fit in the same room.

user15026
@fbueckert Seriously, book closets are awesome. That's what I did when I lived at my parents and had a giant closet

user15026
Half was clothes, half was books

6:33 PM
I'm already debating if I want to move all my bookshelves into my guest bedroom.

user15026
@fbueckert Make it a library!

user15026
Then all you need is like a beanbag for napping on

user15026
Oh man I would NEVER leave that room

@AshleyNunn That's easy to come by.

I only have a few shelves worth of books

6:34 PM
I've got two massive beanbag chairs downstairs already.

the vast majority of my books are digital
Also, I am out of bacon pizza :(

user15026
@SaintWacko I have two bookshelves piled two deep, plus any teen/kidlit stuff my mom has of mine

user15026
@SaintWacko This is a sad, sad day

This is just... I have no words.

user15026
@SaintWacko I am moving more towards digital, as my living situation will bei n flux for a good few years yet, so having less to move is a good thing

6:35 PM
No words.

@AshleyNunn Yeah, I do this quite a bit.
All my bookshelves are jammed with books. Mostly double-stacked AND double-layered.

@AshleyNunn I cleared out one of my bookshelves so I can get a bigger bed

NFSMW or Okami HD...? Choices...

And all my knickknacks take up space

user15026
6:37 PM
@SaintWacko Beds are important. If I didnt have a queen bed in a tiny room I could have more books :P

@MarkTrapp What do you mean?

user15026
But I love my bed.

@AshleyNunn I still have an old twin loft bed

user15026
@fbueckert Yeah, I would be all like OMG librarian and want to organize and set it all up for you :P

6:37 PM
hence the needing a new bed

user2334
@SaintWacko explanation here

and my oscilloscope takes up a lot of space too
but it looks so awesome!

I just wasted 17 minutes there. :(

@AshleyNunn I figure when I move and pack up all the books, I'll be re-organizing them.

That was not worth it at all.

user15026
6:38 PM
@fbueckert grins I love how my first thought is "what sort of system will you use?"

user15026
@SaintWacko I bet it does :)

@MarkTrapp Are you saying the deletion of that article is systemic bias?

@AshleyNunn Mostly just keep the same books in a series next to each other.
That's about it, really. :P

@AshleyNunn It's a big 1970s era Tektronix oscilloscope, with a phosphor screen and vacumn tubes
weighs 75 lb

6:39 PM
Also, @SaintWacko:
yesterday, by fbueckert
user image

user2334
@SaintWacko It wasn't deleted. Did you click through? I'm not sure what additional explanation you're looking for, but this is rapidly turning into "And on panel 3, Garfield eats the lasagna"

You should recognize something in that pic.

@Ullallulloo I've seen that one before, actually, but yeah, it's in there.

user15026
@fbueckert Staaaaaaahp

user15026
NO MORE YAK

6:40 PM
@AshleyNunn I'm not referring to the yak, actually.

@Ullallulloo Also, congratulations, you've successfully wasted 10-20 minutes. :P

user15026
@fbueckert I am still sad anyhow

2 mins ago, by Ullallulloo
I just wasted 17 minutes there. :(

@FAE's new avatar.

6:40 PM
2 mins ago, by Ullallulloo
That was not worth it at all.

user15026
What is hte book under the yak?

@Ullallulloo Oh, wasn't watching the chat.

@Ullallulloo Do it again! You get a new image!

user15026
6:41 PM
@GraceNote happy dance

@GnomeSlice Are you serious? T_T

@AshleyNunn Aww, sorry, that wasn't what I had in mind.

@Ullallulloo Yeah, it's random images.

@fbueckert The book it's on?

user2334

6:42 PM
@SaintWacko That's the one.

user15026
I cant see enough of it to know what book it is.

@fbueckert It looks very familiar

user15026
@fbueckert Its okay. I forgive you :) You would let me be a library mouse.

@SaintWacko It should.

Game Music Bundle 4 is here, featuring (among others), music from Indie Game: The Movie, Skyrim, Retro City Rampage, and Dear Esther.
@Wipqozn ^

You're the one who recommended it to me.
@MadScientist Too slow!

@MadScientist Wow, that was fast.

Who knew, repeatedly annoying SE employees seems to be an effective tactic to get stuff done

@GnomeSlice I already own Dear Esther, but thanks.

@fbueckert Oh, emberverse!
nice!

6:43 PM
@Wipqozn It's a music bundle, if you read my message.

@GnomeSlice Oh, I see. Well then. Perhaps I'll download it.

@AshleyNunn My bookshelves have hit critical mass; I've resorted to wobbly piles stacked around my computer and on my coffee table.

@MadScientist Hey... I totally already brought that up. That's even my upvote still there.

user15026
@SaintWacko Blergh, that reminds me, I have to read those too

user15026
I should make a list.

6:44 PM
@fbueckert Dies the Fire, to be precise

@GraceNote So it was just lucky timing that I bugged Shog about it half an hour ago?

@SaintWacko Very well done.

user15026
If I make it publicly editable, then you all can just recommend at me.

@AshleyNunn @SaintWacko I need some things to read, I haven't read much in years, and I should start again.

user2334
So @GraceNote not to look a gift horse in the mouth or anything, but since you guys are making mechanics changes to child SEs today… <inconspicuous cough goes here>

6:45 PM
@MadScientist No, I meant in here. I will say though, that your pestering probably directly initiated the chain of events that led to its resolution today, even though it'd been on my "PESTER PEOPLE" list.

Get that from the actual picture, or was that an educated guess?

@MarkTrapp Let's just say there's something maybe in the works on this. Long term.

@GnomeSlice Terry Prachett

user2334
@GraceNote Awww. All right

@fbueckert I was certain that was what it was, based on a bit of google-fu

user15026
6:46 PM
Also, you are going to bankrupt my book buying budget at this rate XD poor student who loves reading and most of these books are not at the library

Now to make a SEDE query for tags that would've been pruned but haven't
If there isn't one already

@GnomeSlice Liez

@AshleyNunn A library should have the vast majority of these books.
Especially city-wide libraries.

user15026
@fbueckert Hahahahahahaha......nope

@AshleyNunn Huh. Ebooks?

6:48 PM
@Ullallulloo Oh, is it the same image?

user15026
@fbueckert Even less of a selection.

@GnomeSlice Yes

@Ullallulloo I was sure it wasn't. Let me try.
Ah, nope, it is the same image. That's a shame.

@AshleyNunn Wow, that sucks.

Hah, sorry, you just wasted more time.

6:49 PM
Let me see what I can find when I get home.

@GnomeSlice Relevant

@Ullallulloo HOW U DO DIS

user15026
@fbueckert Yeah. So you guys are recommending me some cool stuff, but actually getting it is difficult, other than buying it

@AshleyNunn Let me worry about that, and see what I can come up with.

user15026
@fbueckert I like you. You are a problem solver. :)

6:50 PM
I am a problem creator! Where's my love?

user15026
@Ullallulloo That's aweosme.

@AshleyNunn The standard is an image of a koala: koalastothemax.com

@GnomeSlice You get annoyed glances because people have to clean up after you.

user15026
@GnomeSlice Yeah, I know, I have been following.

user15026
Some day, I will have the money to problem solve at people. I am resourceful, I just lack materials.

6:52 PM
@fbueckert Hey, I don't leave messes behind.

They remain situated around me as I move along.

user15026
Although I am really good at finding people information tailored to their situation online.

@AshleyNunn If I have to, I can ship you a massive box of books.

user15026
@fbueckert O.o You would do that?

6:52 PM
@Ullallulloo Am I supposed to recognize this zippered smiley?

@GnomeSlice bottom

@AshleyNunn So long as you send them back, I don't see why not.

@Ullallulloo I see it, I still don't recognize it. Oh. I get it. It's your answer.

user15026
@fbueckert Yeah, I totally will. And I will take care of them.

I propose that StackExchange image uploads be switched to koalastothemax.com instead of imgur.

6:54 PM
@AshleyNunn That's a last resort, though. Let's see if we can get something going with just a little less turnaround, yes? :)

user15026
@fbueckert Yeah, I am sure you can come up with some sort of crazy magic.

user15026
@fbueckert I KNOW HOW TO GET A FARM BELL NOW YAAAAAAAAY

user15026
I love you, Arqade.

user15026
I was really tired of pushing that damn cow.

@AshleyNunn Yeah, I saw that.

user15026
6:55 PM
Also, man, I gotta start buttering up the people in my town.

@AshleyNunn I've been bribing the blacksmith.
I keep chucking bricks their way.

user15026
@fbueckert She sure likes scrap metal. Haven't found any bricks, though

@AshleyNunn Those tree stumps with flowers on them.
You get 2-4 random things from them.

user15026
@fbueckert I mostly get rocks from those ;P

6:57 PM
@AshleyNunn I just found some copper, too!

user15026
@Ullallulloo THAT WAS RUDE

And without a supply shed, I'm stuck carrying all of it in the backpack.

user15026
@fbueckert Yeah, my backpack gets REALLY FULL REALLY FAST

user15026
I wonder if I can ever get bigger one

@AshleyNunn I would assume so.
Psst, ask a question!

6:58 PM
@AshleyNunn :(

user15026
@fbueckert grins now wherever could I do that....

@AshleyNunn I haven't the foggiest.
If only there was a place you could ask questions about video games, and get answers that don't consist of, "Haha, I figured it out and I'm not telling you!"
