@badp: Assuming you don't want multiple layouts you can disable all the alternate ones by going to the language settings. You should be able to disable the shortcut key as well.

Most Linux distros have a desktop. The desktop have icons on it. They also have some kind of taskbar. The taskbar has a way to launch other programs. In either way you can launch Firefox (or Chrome).

The trouble I initially dealt with besides the obvious syntax hurdles was that when working in straight console there isn't the abstraction we're used to in GUI and Windows specifically

When I click on the × to dismiss the popup the last thing I want is having a new comment pop the thing back up

@ZeroStack yeah, transfer sounds like it would, but at least on PS3 there's a Backup option that just backs up, and a separate thing for transfer
