4:00 PM
no need to live near a store

@AshleyNunn Well feck. I'd lend you, but I'd have to mail them over the Atlantic and I'm paranoid they'd get broken or lost :(

user15026
@agent86 THe canadian site says they are currently unavailable to buy online.

Q: Why are assassins coming after me?

yx.I recently started a new game as a mage type character. As far as I can tell I haven't done anything wrong yet, haven't stolen anything, etc. In fact, the only quests I've done so far were the initial main quest up to the point where I was appointed thane of Whiterun. Yet as I was walking thro...

@AshleyNunn Whaaaaa?

@FallenAngelEyes My word that is generous of you. You're like, a decent human being or something.

4:01 PM
:(

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes No worries. I will keep trying. :)

user15026
@agent86 Yeah, I looked there a whiel ago, and keep checking periodically. Same message every time.

@Wipqozn One must spread the KH love

@Lazers Because you're Thane of Whiterun? :D

4:02 PM
I didn't get it for a couple years

Wow, you can earn account credits for answering questions about games on GamersGate?

if it's not what you ordered, amazon will give you your money back.

I thought "WTF Squeenix+Disney, lolz"
Then I played the games and got hooked

I've got Gaming.SE at my fingertips...

user15026
@agent86 Awesome - last time I checked they weren't there at all. :)

4:02 PM
@FallenAngelEyes I bought it on a whim for my wife, and then I got hooked too.

must... resist... abuse...

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes See, thats what drew me in - I was like OOOOH its CUTE - I am a sucker for cute games.

@AshleyNunn man, KH2 is such a good sequel too. If you end up liking KH, you will be blown away by the sequel.

user15026
@GnomeSlice I can see how that might be tempting. :P

If you've played any final fantasy, there are quite a few FF references, but you don't have to, nothing critical. just some minor characters and such are lifted from there.

user15026
4:04 PM
@agent86 Awesome. I am excited for this - now I just gotta wait til I have money again, and then I am SO THERE.

They have these things called 'blue coins' which you earn for doing stuff on the site, like buying games. They can be used to buy games too, and you can earn them for answering questions in the 'game tutor' section.

@AshleyNunn yaaaaaay
claps

user15026
@agent86 I've played the first FF and that's it ;) I didn't have any sort of playstation until recently.

user15026
@GnomeSlice That's rather neat, actually.

user15026
@agent86 MInd you, that does mean I will be asking a ton of questions on a relatively old game :(

4:05 PM
I'm actually really liking GamersGate as a distribution channel. Only heard of them recently.

@AshleyNunn ANOTHER series that is way too dense to try to start now. Although the most recent FF was a bit of a letdown.

user15026
@agent86 Yeah, I think FF and I are content with knowing we will just pass each other by.

@AshleyNunn I liked I think FF12 the best of the PS2 releases; if you find a copy cheap, it's worth it. There's almost 0% overlap between games, so you can pick one up and not worry about missing any story elements or anything.

@AshleyNunn Huzzah!

user15026
@agent86 Oh, wicked, I didn't know that - I assumed they all built on each other.

4:07 PM
@AshleyNunn ah, well, between @FallenAngelEyes and I, I'm sure we know the answers. I think I've beaten both games twice at 100% completion.

@AshleyNunn First? The very first was on NES

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes Yeah, thats the one!

@AshleyNunn X and X-2 are related. XIII and XIII-2 are related. Other than that, no relations.

@AshleyNunn nope, there have been a few games that were continuations (revenant wings on DS, X-2 on PS2) but for the most part it's a new world, characters, etc every time.

@AshleyNunn They are very much not, unless you look at direct sequels like FFX and X-2 and... what @Powerlord said

4:08 PM
It's gotten a lot less grindy since the NES days

Oh wait, I forgot about the 20 sequels they made to Final Fantasy VII 10 years later.

user15026
@Powerlord Oh, cool. Good to know. The sequential numbering made me assume they were related.

They tend to have common elements like Moogles, a character named Cid, chocobos, etc.

Airships

Ultima

4:08 PM
@AshleyNunn Yeah they've uh, significantly improved on mechanics since then

user15026
Re: KH - I am pretty notgood at anything that remotely requires a ton of inventory management or large sandboxy tpye stuff. Am I going to have a problem with KH?

I started playing FFXIII recently

Playing FF1 now would seem... backwards.

Aren't 'Final Fantasy X' and 'Final Fantasy X-2' the only related ones?

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes snorts Why does that not surprise me?

4:09 PM
"I have to buy spells?"

@AshleyNunn No inventory management, very little sandbox

user15026
@agent86 HOORAY!

@AshleyNunn It's not very sandboxy, there's some minor inventory stuff, but not like "oh god I need to sell every 5 min"

@AshleyNunn Most of the time it's light platforming with action RPG style combat.

It's more like managing components for crafting

4:09 PM
@GnomeSlice: No, they announced XIII-2 just recently. Also, Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerebus is related to FF VII.

user15026
@agent86 Perfect. That's what I am good at. :)

as well as all the other ones with VII in the title.

@AshleyNunn You can get by with MASH X TO WIN!

@GnomeSlice so is GamersGate Digital distribution like Steam or hard copies like... everything else?

@agent86 Or in KH2's case, triangle too

user15026
4:10 PM
@agent86 YESSSSSS. I love things where I can resort to mashing all the buttons.

@RedriderX Seems like you get a downloader from the site, which then you run to download the game.

I tend to avoid using magic in Kingdom Hearts, although I know it's an option.

@AshleyNunn plus, you'll have 2 AI partners (generally Donald and Goofy, although you'll get to pick the main character from the Disney movie you're in if you wish)

Which I guess makes sense because it means you don't need to download it all at once.

@agent86 I still need to finish XII

4:11 PM
There are some tricky optional bosses, but they're optional as you'd expect from their name.

@Powerlord Yeah, I'm more keyblade focused m'self too

@GnomeSlice So is there some kind of game manager like Steam?

@FallenAngelEyes It's probably the height of the series, IMHO

user15026
@agent86 Shiny. I like having people to help me out XD

@agent86 having to run around in circles to regen my MP sucks

4:11 PM
@AshleyNunn YVW, anytime!
oh wait, you meant donald and goofy :P

@AshleyNunn Browncoat?

FINE, be that way :P

user15026
@agent86 Both, actually. Ambiguous statement is ambiguous

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes Yes. A thousand times yes.

@FallenAngelEyes I seem to remember that getting better towards the end...

4:12 PM
@RedriderX You mean, can you see and download all of your purchased games easily?

user15026
@agent86 Aww :( offers cookies

@AshleyNunn Hehe, woo

@AshleyNunn mmm, cookies

@agent86 I'll finish it at some point. I don't feel bad about playing XIII right now because of aforementioned lack of connections
though XIII is hard because like
the first 30 hours suck

user15026
4:13 PM
@GnomeSlice That actually looks like a pretty awesome site. Seems to have decent deals on things, too. :)

@GnomeSlice Ya, that's kind of the steam way, but I wondered if the downloader was just some DRM wrapper

@FallenAngelEyes the whole game sucks

@AshleyNunn There was a huge deal event on when I joined.

@GnomeSlice Oh, so is this an online interface?

@agent86 I found it very cheap and secondhand, so I don't feel bad for what I spent on it. Fang's cool.

Aeo
4:14 PM
@FallenAngelEyes First 30? I'd been told the first 20... You mean I have another 10 to go?! (when I get back around to it, that is...)

@FallenAngelEyes I am an unapologetic FF fanboy, and I did not enjoy XIII in the slightest. I own copies of every FF game except that one.

@RedriderX Yes.

@GnomeSlice Oh

user15026
@GnomeSlice Niiiice, not that I need encouragement to buy more games....

I also have to recommend Indievania.com, which gets me all excited.
@RedriderX So is Steam, though.

4:15 PM
@agent86 I was very angry at the game when it came out and also angry that Shiva is like, motorcycle twins performing tribadism and other stuff. I'm trying to give it a chance.
@Aeo Depends on how fast you go through stuff? Til whenever the game opens up.

user15026
@GnomeSlice Oh, that looks awesome. COngrats, you have just introduced me to two places that are going to see a lot of my money.

And you aren't stuck just RUNNING DOWN HALLWAYS

@GnomeSlice Ya they had a MAXPC article about that but i haven't checked it out yet.

@agent86 I actually have never finished VII
VIII was my first game

@FallenAngelEyes That game, holy crap. Just press a. You could tape the button down on your controller and rubber band the left stick forward, and come back 20 hours later.

4:16 PM
@AshleyNunn Some of the pay-what-you-want titles on Indievania you can get for free, if you want to check out how the game manager works.

FF13: A WINNER IS YOU!

@GnomeSlice well ya a lot of it is online, but steam has an offline mode

@agent86 lol yeah

@RedriderX You don't need to be online to PLAY the games.

@FallenAngelEyes 7's overrated. 6 is where it's at. 8's a little groan-worthy at times.

4:17 PM
@RedriderX Which only works if you set it before you go offline
If you randomly disconnect, it's not so kind

@AshleyNunn Try out Didgery, which you can get for free.

okay, okay, work is coming out. STOP TALKING TO ME NOW. shhhhh.

You know what's a fun series? Ace Attorney. Unfortunately, Capcom USA doesn't think it's profitable and canceled future North American and European translations.

@agent86 I know a lot of people bitch about 8, but it'll always have a special place for being my first FF. Also Liberi Fatali is an amazing piece and always gets me.

Except Phoenix Wright vs. Professor Layton, which is under control of Level 5 (the Professor Layton people)

4:19 PM
@Powerlord This makes me sadface
The trailer for the movie looks pretty cool tbh

@GnomeSlice Well what I was wondering, if the main interface is online, is the downloader you talked about just an annoying DRM Wrapper?

Am I the only person who thinks this is a dupe?

Don't think so. Don't know much about DRM (don't even know what it stands for). I think it's just there so that you can download the game in pieces, whereas a direct game download in the browser would need to be done all at once.

Q: Is there a way to fix my Minecraft SMP map?

MuToiD_MaNDue to the change in the world generation method, I went and found a map seed that was suitable for using MCEdit to paste our old structures into it. The only problem is, there is a region around spawn (which I moved a ways from the original staring position using the editor) that is completely ...

I'm sure you can find that information on the site, though.

4:20 PM
I think we should pressure Capcom to rename their company "Street Fighter versus Resident Evil" since that appears to be the only series they plan on developing any more.

@GnomeSlice DRM = digital rights management

@Powerlord I never really got into RE. I tried playing the first game but the control scheme was bleeeegh.

Has anyone played a game called 'The Inlaws'?

@John Ya I don't know about this... is MCEdit working with MineCraft 1.0?
Got to go bye.

If yes, maybe you can help me answer this question, and earn monies.

4:22 PM
@FallenAngelEyes Playing Silent Hill told me I'm not a fan of survival horror games.
So I didn't bother with Resident Evil.

WAIT.

@Powerlord RE4 is worth playing, and I hate horror and horror games in general.

NOBODY SIGN UP FOR GAMERSGATE YET
Apparently I can refer you.

If I'm playing a game where I get new weapons as the game goes on, I want ones with lots of ammo, not games which intentionally short you ammo, which seems to be a cornerstone of survival horror.

@RedriderX I don't think so, but that has no bearing on the fact that it's a dupe.

4:24 PM
@FallenAngelEyes The opening music for FF8 is suitably epic. I am with you there. I get chills every time I hear it.

@agent86 I memorized the whole thing, Latin and all :x

@GnomeSlice oh, sorry, I already signed up.

Bah, I can't figure this out. =[

Hey everyone, point me down as a referrer for Gamersgate.

Quite alright.

4:25 PM
@Powerlord Ah, I quite like them because I enjoy the feeling of fear. Horror stories and movies don't really get under my skin anymore, so the engagement of such games is kind of the only place I can experience it now.

user15026
@GnomeSlice Awesome. I will when I get home. :)

Also, what is gamers gate @GnomeSlice? Never heard of it before.

I don't get how these referral links work.

user15026
@GnomeSlice If you figure it out let me know, I will use you as a referral when I sign up later :)

@Wipqozn Awesome digital distribution channel.

4:26 PM
Oh, it's an online store.
What is so special about it, and why would I use it over Steam?

@Wipqozn I use GamersGate as well

@GraceNote ah I see. What is so special about it?

@Wipqozn Rewards, better deals, and it's not Steam. All bonuses.

@Wipqozn I just told you

@GraceNote Clever girl.

4:27 PM
@GraceNote Heh.
@GraceNote Do you know anything about how these referral links work? Seems to me that I can only create them for specific game purchases, not for account registration.

@GnomeSlice I've bought a grand total of two games from them. I have no idea how their stuff works.

Heh. Me too.

The site does seem interesting, I'll grant you that. However, I think I will stick with Steam.

@Wipqozn Rewardsssss.

Hmm, some new digital distribution scheme?

4:29 PM
@FallenAngelEyes +1 internetz worth of geek points to you!

If you have Steam, you may as well stick with it

Also, @GraceNote Have you heard of 'Indievania.com'?

I use GamersGate largely because it had the games I needed, and it wasn't Steam.

@GraceNote Dupe or not dupe?

I've never liked Steam anyhow, so this is intriguing

4:30 PM
I despise Steam.

@John Don't ask me, ask everyone else in the room that has actually played the game

@GraceNote I asked everyone else, and they kinda ignored me. I figured I'd ask you since you're the only person with a ♦ around.

@GraceNote I thought you knew everything.

@John The problem is similar, but I'd say the questions are different enough to be left alone as separate questions.

user15026
@GnomeSlice What are your issues with it? I've never really heard of anyone disliking Steam.

4:31 PM
@GnomeSlice How are they that different?

@AshleyNunn It's slow, crashy, and a bloody network hog.

@AshleyNunn Their terms of service are terrible for sibling pairs who like to share and play the same game.

@John Different information given.

user15026
@GraceNote Yeah, I noticed that - my wife and I like to share games, and Steam doesn't let us do that easily.

@AshleyNunn I'm with GnomeSlice, it's badly written software.

4:32 PM
@GnomeSlice I think all of that has more to do with your computer/internet connection. From what I've gathered you have more than your fair share of problems with your computer.

@GnomeSlice It is more detailed...

Oh, I meant to mention that.
My father upgraded my desktop computer.

Meh. There's nothing else I can do about it anyway.

@AshleyNunn Never had a problem with steam personally. I like it to bits.

merrily goes about his day

4:33 PM
I agree with @GnomeSlice. The questions are not dups.

I wish I could blow it to bits

user15026
@agent86 The not being able to share things is my biggest issue, honestly

It went from a 'windows gaming rating' of 3 to something like 6.1 out of 7.

Steam is completely useless on dialup.

@GnomeSlice well shit

4:33 PM
About Stream, I dislike not being able to play my games when the internet is down

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes Oh, definitely.

Does this mean you will start playing Team Fortress 2 now @GnomeSlice?

@robjb You can do that.
@Wipqozn Not likely, it's updating faster than I can download it.

user15026
@GnomeSlice Wow. That's a pretty crazy awesome change.

@AshleyNunn Yeah, this is why for big AAA releases, my b/f and I get console sometimes, so we don't have to get 2 copies

4:34 PM
@GnomeSlice Oh really? You didn't use to be able to

@GnomeSlice ah I see. Sounds like your internet is the next thing you need to upgrade.

@AshleyNunn Doesn't let you do it, period.

@robjb You can run steam in offline mode.
But yeah, Steam is a pain in the ass.

@GnomeSlice I recall that, but doesn't the offline mode stop working after a day or so?

@AshleyNunn Your what?
@robjb I don't... THINK so...

4:35 PM
@robjb No, it'll stay working if you have put it into Offline Mode before you disconnected from the internet

Anyway, Steam brutalizes my network whenever it's running.

Uhh

Accounts must be owned by an individual, and no matter how many computers you install it to, only one person can play at any time. The resolution of two separate accounts means I would have to spend twice as much money just to buy a single-player game.

If my internet goes down, how can I put it offline before I disconnect?

but to get it to work okay, you have to have done that deliberately

4:36 PM
Exactly

Otherwise it'll just keep trying to reconnect

A flawed approach

@robjb What do you mean?

@robjb Yeah, this is the major issue

And forced updates are the bane of my existence.

4:36 PM
@robjb Yes.

user15026
@GnomeSlice Blergh. Can't see what you are asking about. Stupid netbook.

@robjb You can turn that off

@GnomeSlice I believe the word was "wife"

user15026
@GraceNote YEs, that was the word. Did I misspell it terribly or something? I can't see it, and I tend to type faster than I can think.

While my dad was upgrading my machine, he was trying to download a new video driver for the new card.

4:36 PM
Hmm

He ended up having to mutilate steam because it was downloading megabytes and megabytes.

I think it's an improvement over what came before, but it's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. I think it's better than the alternatives that others have proposed (ie, always-online DRM or Origin, for example)

@agent86 anything is better than Origin

@AshleyNunn No disrespect.

user15026
@GnomeSlice Never assumed there was any. :)

4:37 PM
I think I'll keep buying discs until better software comes along.

I've been loving GamersGate and Indievania.

I think the era of the disc is coming to an end.

Indievania gets me all worked up.

Personally, I like automatic updates, although I've seen cases where that backfires (why hello there, Skyrim!)

@robjb I mostly use Steam for indie games, F2P online MMO's and co-op games I was gifted
Otherwise I prefer to have shiny boxed editions

4:38 PM
I'd be surprised if the next gen of consoles even supports it as a media.

and collector's editions art books <3

or perhaps generation n+2

@agent86 I wouldn't. We're not there quite yet.

n+1 = next generation
You mean n+2? :)

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes Yeah, we generally do that as well, if it is a game we want to both play.

4:39 PM
edited, yes, mistyped

@GnomeSlice Indievania tells me they're in Beta

They'd lose a lot of customers without decent internet connections.
@GraceNote They are.

@AshleyNunn Though the lack of couch co-op games nowadays makes me sad :(

Brand-spankin'-new distribution channel.
Just click the link to the beta site.

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes For some reason, getting the game in a box I can have on my shelf is stupidly pleasing. I think that is my magpie nature.

user30

Great Lord Cthulhu, destroyer of mankind, has arisen from his watery repose and is currently causing a minor traffic incident in Enfield.

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes Agreed!

@GnomeSlice But, they gain the ability to price fix and forbid 'used' games. Microsoft especially likes that sort of model.

@AshleyNunn Some people display fine art in their living rooms. I display my gaming CE's. :D

They need to have something remotely of interest for me to stick around

@GraceNote Hmm... lets see...

user15026
4:40 PM
@FallenAngelEyes Hey, some of them are pretty much art!

@AshleyNunn Co-optimus, if you're not already familiar with it
They rate games on their co-op-ability and you can also sort by couch co-op, network co-op, etc.

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes Oooh, I wasn't! That's awesome. Thanks for sharing :)

@GraceNote Astralia maybe?

user15026
This si why I love Gaming, you guys keep intro'ing me to some crazy awesome stuff.

@FallenAngelEyes +10 respect points

4:41 PM
@AshleyNunn You're welcome.

@AshleyNunn It's a must-have site, imo, if you have a partner you like doing couch-co-op with

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes WE haven't really played much co-op, because our gaming interests are pretty different, but I like the idea. XD Just gotta find the right game for it, I suppose :)

Resistance1's couch co-op was EPIC

A lot of their RPGs look like they were crafted in RPG Maker XP or later, interestingly.

Also to all our newcomers who have Steam, we do have a community group, if you'd like to join
3
19
Q: Steam Community Group

alexanderpasGaming Stack Exchange Steam Community Group Enables us to communicate even while playing, and play games together. (Jeff will be made Owner if he joins, and ♦ on the site should be Officers)

4:42 PM
I played through that co-op on my couch like 5 times

@GraceNote It's still a very new site.

It's not a bad thing

There are some... less than excellent game options at the moment.

@FallenAngelEyes I would go so far as to say everyone and their mother should join the gaming group

I used RPG Maker XP myself
It was great if only because I managed to create a sequence that inflicted 17 pentillion damage on a foe. I didn't expect them to allow that much.

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes Oh, neat. I don't play Steam games all that often (except Costume Quest, it is my new favourite thing.)

@AshleyNunn Yeah, I hear you. My b/f I live with and I don't have as much crossover for online games, but my other b/f plays a lot of online stuff.

Oh rrrrreeeeeallly?

@AshleyNunn Costume Quest is awesome, I picked that up on PSN earlier this year

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes It's adorable and fun. I like all the different costumes.

4:45 PM
I have a feeling that 64-bit numbers won't even hold a pentillion

@GraceNote I know you like arcade shooters. Haven't tried this one yet, but you can get it for free while its on the special offer.

So they must have put conscious effort into supporting that one

@AshleyNunn Yeah. XD It's just a nice, well-made little game. I thoroughly enjoy it.

Oh, hey, they have Inside a Star-filled Sky
@GnomeSlice 'tain't all I like

@GraceNote Yep.

4:46 PM
But I'll look into it, thanks ♪

@GraceNote I know, just thought I'd mention it.

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes I always like when I find "real" (read: not DinerDash) games that I can play on PC -anything that requires both keyboard and mouse at the same time is really hard for me

Nevermind I lied, 64bits will hold a quintillion

I really hope Indievania evolves into an amazing Indie marketplace, I love it.

user15026
@GnomeSlice That would be awesome.

4:47 PM
@AshleyNunn Just not used to the controls or is the hand-eye coordination for it in general difficult for you?

@GraceNote Out of curiosity, are you using a 64-bit machine?

"action platformer where you pilot a jumping tank" <-- This is the kind of tagline that gets my attention
@robjb Win7

@GraceNote I LOVE that game!

@GraceNote I have not heard of this before. That looks fascinating.

anybody want some skyrim soup?

4:47 PM
I've only posted it in here like 6 times.

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes I am not much with the hand-eye coordination. Which is disappointing.

It's an amazing Blaster Master homage.

@GraceNote I'm asking about the hardware not the software :P

You should play it.

4:48 PM
No big deal though

@AshleyNunn Have you tried getting a gamepad for your PC?

@GnomeSlice Helena the 3rd, aye?

@GraceNote That's the one.

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes I have used an xbox controller for some things, but for the most part, no.

@robjb I was under the impression Win7 was always 64bit

4:48 PM
@GraceNote I even wrote a review you can read on that page, if you're so inclined.

It's not something I personally dwell on or look at

Nope
That's fine, was a minor curiosity

@FallenAngelEyes Xbox 360 Wired controllers are cheap, work natively with windows, and are supported by many windows games. a winning option all around.

@AshleyNunn Yeah, that's what I meant, something like that

@GnomeSlice Ooh, that you did. I shall read it!
How long of gameplay would you say you can get out of the game?

user15026
4:49 PM
@FallenAngelEyes I just forget that I can use it, honestly. Because I never know what will support it.

@AshleyNunn You can also get a USB->PS2 (in this case Playstation 2) adapter, that works pretty well.
@AshleyNunn also check out joy2key, which makes many more games support joypads that would normally require keyboard/mouse input

@GraceNote I don't know, I haven't even finished it yet. So far, there's far far more play time in it than I was expecting for $1 though.

Intriguing

@agent86 Yeah, I had one of those for Frets on Fire for my GH thingie

I've spent probably 5-6 hours on it so far.

4:51 PM
@agent86 Oh, neat. I will have to take a look at that.

@FallenAngelEyes I built a controller for that game, before I could justify buying a plastic guitar :)

@GraceNote Nope, Win7 has 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

@AshleyNunn If gamepads don't help enough with the reaction time things, you may also want to check out AbleGamers, which reviews games based on how accessible they are for people with various disabilities.

managed to hook the wife and find a good deal on GH3, so it mainly collects dust now.

a friend of mine has muscular dystrophy, so he can't handle stuff with high reaction time either

4:53 PM
@Powerlord @robjb Well, I have two Program Files folders, one marked (x86), so I would guess that means I have the 64bit version

I've got some undiagnosed RSI, I should check that out at some point.

The Indievania site is interesting and they do have an intriguing library in some aspects. Deficient in certain important areas, but time will tell how easily that is patched.

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes Oh, that is very cool. :) IT will come in handy for sure. :)

@agent86 I used to use one of those , but now I have the Xbox 360 wireless adapter for PC. Not sure if it works with things like Guitar controllers and dance mats though.
@GraceNote That's correct.

You can look at reviews based on whether they require fine motor skills, or if you're deaf, colorblind, have only one hand, etc.

4:53 PM
@GraceNote Such as? And yes, they're still just starting up.

So as you can imagine, stuff that's turn based will tend to score higher, as opposed to say a frantic shooter or platformer

@Powerlord They stopped making those, sadly. I own a Razer Onza TE (which is wired) now so it's less of a bummer, but I tried to find one once upon a time and failed miserably.

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes Wow. I like that. I dont have very good fine motor, so being able to judge ahead of time if a game will just frustrate me to tears is a very cool thing. It will save me from buying things that I can't finish (like Psychonauts and Warcraft)

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes Turnbased is my friend. :) I can take all the time I need. :)

oddly enough, you can't use a play+charge with a wireless controller to make it communicate via USB

4:55 PM
@agent86 Nope.

@AshleyNunn Here's the review link, you can select stuff which applies to you in the little dropdowns and then it'll filter out search results

@AshleyNunn Check out Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for DS/GBA, if you like strategy games. it's turn based and quite good.

@GnomeSlice Their stock of things I'd be interested in is deficient, I meant. Not the actual site design or functionality, sorry.

@agent86 They have? Amazon still sells the adapters with a new controller:

@agent86 I'd recommend A2 myself

@AshleyNunn If you like RPGs, the first Dragon Age also got a very high score because of the tactical-pause-and-play option.

user15026
@agent86 Oh, cool, I will have to take a look.

@GraceNote Why are you apologizing? I agree, the games list is... kind of sad for the moment.

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes pause and play?

@AshleyNunn You hit space bar while in combat to pause, then you can select the actions you want to do, hit space again to unpause and your char will continue

4:57 PM
@AshleyNunn you can stop the action at any point if you need a breather and queue up actions

@GnomeSlice In case I misspoke and came across as "The site itself is deficient"

@GraceNote So? It's still in beta, I was curious as to what you may have seen that could be improved. Anyway, no offense taken by anyone.

Unfortunately, the 2nd game is less forgiving in this regard, as they made the combat more frantic and action-oriented

@GraceNote I was more recommending the series as a whole. I find the whole FFT series to be quite good.

Granted, that's not the newest Xbox 360 controller; the new one is grey and has the D-pad that changes when you twist it.

4:58 PM
@GnomeSlice And I didn't see anything on the site end that could be improved. So I was trying to make sure that my point was understood

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes Oh, that is just awesome. :)

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes That's too bad :(

@AshleyNunn Yep! You can also completely ignore that if you want to play a game that's more "action style" so it's the best of both worlds

@GraceNote if you'd like to try out Helena the 3rd I could lend you my download link. You could check it out, and make a decision.

@Powerlord Ah, they're just bundling it I guess? The wired was far cheaper than that option.

4:59 PM
@GnomeSlice I'll give the video a looksee when I'm not swamped

user15026
I suspect I am having so much trouble with Skyward Sword because it wants tiny more well defined movements with the Wiimote and I end up haphazardly swinging it around. :(

@AshleyNunn Yeah, the 2nd had a lot of missteps in design, imo. The first though is still very good, imo, and created a really interesting world with great characters.

> I'm an idiot: Set in a modern time, you play as a guy. You need to bump into people who are no stronger than you to gain points.

Though the 2nd game had more LGBT romance options

@agent86 Yes, Microsoft only sells it bundled (at least these days). If you see it unbundled, it's an open-box item or a knockoff.

user15026
4:59 PM
@FallenAngelEyes I watched my wife play it a lot, and I liked the story. :)

user15026
@FallenAngelEyes Good to know. :)

which is always A+++ in my book

user15026
@GnomeSlice snorts best game concept ever.
