@terdon - pacman doesnt use packages?
hmm. i always called em packages... dont remember any particular reason why though... what are they then?

@mikeserv More like the instructions to build a package as I understand it. I meant that they don't come in nicely tied up boxes like .debs or .rpms.

oh, ok. yeah.
@terdon - if youre still getting used to it - pacman -Qil and -Qo and -Ss are little introspections i tend to use a lot.
pacman -S --print-format %escapes is pretty cool, too.

@mikeserv Thanks, I'll look into those.

the -Qil might be most useful - it lists all the things about an installed package. Qo if given a file argument, will print the package owner. -Ss will search your repos for packages you dont have and return what you might install if you wanted.
thats all i got.

12:21 AM
Yeah, -Ss I knew. The others I;ll need to play with.
Not now though, off to bed. Night all.

I heard about this memory leakage thing in kubuntu. Is this patched yet?

you're not going to get a good answer if that's all the information you can provide.

I honestly don't know much about it. I just got it mentioned to, so I went to chat to hope for efficient answers. Sorry if I'm not doing this right, I just started using Stack Exchange, so yeah.
am I doing this right?

you're fine
but "I heard this rumour about this super broad thing" isn't likely to get good answers ;)

I see
here's a quote from the guy (sorry if it isn't in correct format)
Kubuntu 14.04 has a memory leak issue with Xorg. After about 5 hours, Xorg will be using 3/4 of your RAM. – Zacharee1 20 mins ago

@Gilles Thanks! I did originally end up going with the cron version, since I hadn't used it before, and editing rc.local wasn't working in Fedora, which I now know why :)

@SpecialBomb - 2 hours?!? wow! that's way faster than it used to be.
