the -Qil might be most useful - it lists all the things about an installed package. Qo if given a file argument, will print the package owner. -Ss will search your repos for packages you dont have and return what you might install if you wanted.

@Gilles Thanks! I did originally end up going with the cron version, since I hadn't used it before, and editing rc.local wasn't working in Fedora, which I now know why :)
I have a line "Check space in www.raja.server.local.com and it is 40% full in /usr" and I want to just parse www.raja.server.local.com from above line.
