you have the interpreter loaded in memory, you'd contrive things so that you have the solution loaded immediately afterwards if it had a non-negative byte count, so if it's negative instead you take bytes off the end of the interpreter and your solution's behavior is that of running the truncated interpreter

It'd be pretty awkward for them to see the other two candidates win and not them (especially if it was a close call). And that could lead to months of not-feeling-too-good about the results.

that's something I find acts as a reasonable measure of security - the amount of trouble an RO could cause us is a lot less than the amount of trouble we could cause them should they intentionally try to commit abuse, and to be honest, I have very little suspicion any of you would intentionally cause harm; at worst you'd be ineffective ROs

so the current ROs + potential ROs all have reasons to not do that

All three candidates have so far been very reasonable and mature people the vast majority of the time, and if they wanted to do damage, 10k-20k rep would give them the power to do much worse things than kicking a bunch users for half an hour (which alerts every mod online) or renaming TNB

@pxeger ATO has copy-to-clipboard functionality for CMC and posts, but it'd be really nice with a simple [link text!](url) one too for serious things like SO.

@Adám To some extent, I don't want ATO to be used for serious things, because then it will become a serious maintenance burden

But the reason I haven't added that feature is because the permalink auto-updates in the URL bar, and I think []() is simple enough to type yourself

yeah, that too: I don't think "Attempt this online" is a very intelligible link for people not in the know, but "Try it online" isn't a good link for code golfers, because it isn't TIO

so I thought I'd just let you pick your own link text when you write it

It is easier to rely on something opinionated than come up with something new.

And I’ve seen Try It Online used for Online interpreters other than TIO

(e.g ideone, Vyxal, replit)
