@LeakyNun Alright, I've fixed it. In particular, you can now run yG on the pyth.heroku-app.com, and it won't break.

Is there a 1 byte solution? If you're going to use two bytes, you might as well do ṛ/ since it's one link

Oh that's clever
I don't think there's a one byter though

OK.

Question: if you were to invest $25K in company how much % share would you want

Depends on the size of the company
If it was worth more than $1M, I'd have no idea
If it was worth $1M or less, I'd also have no idea
This is why I'm not an investor

10:08 PM
urgh stupid mathjax

@Downgoat But actually, I'd want p * 25000 / c, where c is the cost per share and p is the fraction that each share is

@downgoat it all depends on the company and your portfolio risk.
I have my 401k diversified enough to be earning 14.6% YOTD this year and 20.4% last year.
I'm bored and out of challenges to try in 05AB1E... I may just start doing crappy groovy answers lol.

10:25 PM
groovy isn't bad

Eh... that's subjective.

It's not bad at all. In fact, I'd say it's a pretty groovy language.

Ahaha, yeah, it's groovy. But it's not a standard now that AngularJS has the market with stuff like SpringBoot.
Basically a relic i nthe enterprise department.
I just wish that AngularJS was less... bulky.

bulky as in verbose or something else?

Ahhh... If you've never messed with angular, you can use a bunch of cool generation commands, etc...
But I'm not quite that good yet.
So it's bulky as in the amount of "basic shit", simply put, that you have to type is absurd.
Our company won't let us use the IntelliJ IDE
Soooo... basically, you know how you can like right click an unimported object in eclipse to import it? None of those shortcuts in Visual Studio Code ._.

10:37 PM
rip
anyway brb o/

Plus you have to make a component, service and model for nearly everything; program the routing, program allllllllllll the different mappings, etc... Not to mention keep the API in line with the UI
Not fun without that IDE

@MagicOctopusUrn you only need to import Angular in Angular? or are you talk about Groovy

You need to import angular sub-libraries and internal imports of implemented services, components and modules.
And in Visual Code Studio you literally have to letter-by-letter type out everything. It's basically like coding an ASP.NET application in Notepad++.
But our company literally won't pay for IntelliJ as it's a "waste of important funds".

oh are you doing webpack angular or browser angular

Not sure, never heard those words used; I'm just getting into it. We're using spring-boot to has a JSON API on the backend then using straight AngularJS to write the frontend
Then again I'm teaching myself so... likely I missed something... I'm the only one at the company trying to learn stuff ._.

@MagicOctopusUrn oh, well I barely know angular either :P I tried making a basic app with it but it was horrible >_<
May I ask why you're not using React?
React is glorious
and JSX is best thing since goats

Q: Is the writer a man or woman?

geokavelOne problem on a website like this is that you often don't know if you are talking to a male or female. However, you have come up with a simple NLP technique you can use to determine the gender of the writer of a piece of text. Theory About 38.1% of letters used in English are vowels (see Refer...

We were using JAX-RS
But we're a fortune 100 company so... We literally use what they tell us to.
And they won't even give us the tools to do it, so... Looking for jobs, anyone hiring?
I'll look into react, but I can't do much in practice unfortunately :(.

@riker no
@riker but yes, so much yes.

10:52 PM
@Riker why do I feel like 99% of the time you come into this room you ping flawr with something xD

That easily is the best/worst 5th grade geometry teacher joke I've ever heard that wouldn't be appropriate for the class.

tfw you run htop and the top entry is htop itself lol

I did that today when my app stopped running, same dealio.
"Oh, well clearly that's not correct."

except when my world community grid thing is running. then that's always top

Could I get some more people to answer the straw poll? I was hoping to use the data, but only one person has answered. :|

10:56 PM
Exactly haha. I run "top" to see if my apps are even running lol
Link {it}.

@HyperNeutrino Thanks

Wellp, I can tell you why it hasn't been answered much ._.

because it contains no golflangs lol

10:57 PM
Yes.
At least add all the languages on the TIO "practical" nexus page.

I don't need data on golflangs though :\

Fair enough, then data will be sparse ;).

I browsed a few questions to determine which high level langs are popular on the site.

Unless you allow the users to select none and hit submit heh...
Maybe post a meta question labeled with: "Which high-level languages do you enjoy golfing in?"

VTC as unclear what a high-level language is

10:59 PM
Then grab the responses from that as the poll.

(lol jk)

Would that be on topic?

Jelly is a high-level language lol. ... -> C -> Python -> Jelly
@WheatWizard I doubt it. too opinion based (if that's a meta close option)

I want to design a practical language to be fun for golfing. But I need to get an idea of what features people find "fun" in such languages.

I mean meta is subjective as to what's on topic... So I'd say it's on topic.

11:01 PM
abusing syntax

It's a discussion.
"Your favorite high-level golfing language, and why?"

hm good point, discussions are always opinion based anyway :P

Is there a help center for the meta?

I mean I posted a topic on what my username anagram should be lol.
You mean a meta-meta-ppcg? No lol.
HOW DEEP CAN ONE SE GO?

No I mean when I click on the help center on the meta it redirects me to the main site's help center.

11:10 PM
Ah....

(meta-)*meta-ppcg = meta-ppcg

@ATaco -5 bytes: (meta-)+ppcg = meta-ppcg

We need a sub-challenge thread.
Like a sandbox, but where all answers are comments.
If your answer doesn't fit in the comment, you're disqualified.

IT'S LIKE PPCGSE GOLFING. WHERE THE ANSWERS ARE LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND. Imagine it! 500 bytes of Jelly CRAMMED into a COMMENT. It'll be !#%*ing GLORIOUS.
4

11:18 PM
it's like tweetable whatever something or other except with a larger allowed size

Sorry, I'll... uhh.. show myself out.

lol are you always like this xD
also I can't seem to find a 5-character swear word that fits with -ing

@MagicOctopusUrn Ok I posted to meta, we'll see if its on topic now

also 500 bytes of Jelly sounds scary D:
Can I get some final feedback on this before posting?

@HyperNeutrino Looks like you are missing a link

Q: What features of practical languages are enjoyable for golfing?

Wheat WizardA lot of users, myself included, enjoy golfing in practical languages, even though they often stand no chance of winning against the terse and powerful golfing languages. There are a lot of things that make these languages unique and rewarding to golf in. I like Haskell for its pattern matching...

@NewMetaPosts that was fast

@HyperNeutrino I think it needs to be a little more explainy in general. Seems a little short.

hm. ok
I mean, there's not much to it though xD

I think in general short questions can be good, I just felt it was a little too short for that particular question.
don't forget the "this is "

11:24 PM
I was actually thinking of making it shorter ._.
oh yes that too

CMC: Given n, produce a random number in the range of [0,n] of random bytes.
I suspect a 3 byte jelly solution.

so like 10 -> random.choice(range(0, 2**10))?

Let me elaborate, generate a list, range, string, whever, with a random length between 0 and n inclusve, of random bytes.

Ow. So I totaled my parents van :(

ouch :I

11:31 PM
RIP my money

@ATaco uniform length distribution and uniform byte distribution?

I would like to post this soon; any final feedback?

KERRSHSHSHSHSHSHSH
@Christopher Feedback

@Christopher Ouch. What happened? Everyone ok?

VTC as unclear. Need better definition of feedback.
@DJMcMayhem Fell asleep, hit a tree, everyone (me) is fine
Just hoping I don't get put in a shallow grave by my parents :P

11:33 PM
is the tree fine though

Fell asleep driving?!?!

Does anyone know how to include a JS script from GitHub in a Stack Snippet? Trying to work around the character limit since it's still only 30000 on meta

Holy shit, you are lucky

Yeah

@HyperNeutrino Distribution doesn't matter, as long as there's a non-zero possibility of producing any output.

11:34 PM
^^^ agreed

How fast were you going?

35 MPH

> MPG

I drive in MPG not MPH
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I got up at 5:30 and left house at 6, got to work at 6:50 left work at 3:30 crashed at 4

That's ~55kPh, for those who don't want to google.

11:36 PM
My IRL friend flipped out as I told him over text

That's 15 km/L, for those who don't want to google.

Lesson: better to sleep on the side of a road then wake in a car with the engine compressed into nothingness

well yeah duh
well I mean probably you got to sleep for about 1-3 seconds so not sure how much sleep that gave you actually rip

@HyperNeutrino RIP
At least I got off work for tmr XD

11:40 PM
...lol
@Christopher you'll need the money to pay back for the car though rip

@HyperNeutrino Insurance covers 10k
So pretty good

oh right insurance exists lol

Idk how much I will pay

@Christopher up to 10k less than you'd have to pay otherwise xD

@HyperNeutrino Well they are paying us 10k for the car
~10k

11:47 PM
Hey I got this badge

Nice
I would need to remove one of my top posts

it's because I had an invalid answer that got upvotes because nobody could break it until someone found a case where it didn't work but didn't downvote
well actually did downvote, but got another 2 upvotes which gave it score 3 and helped me get silver code-golf tag badge
I still have the tag badge xD but I can't track gold :I
I've had 29/30 progress on Inquisitive for so long xD hopefully I'll get it from my new question

Lol

I had 24/5 progress once on Curious badge and I had >5/5 progress for eternity lol

I have 11/5 on cuious
curious

11:51 PM
lol

I've been trying to get socratic, but its a real grind

you could theoretically delete this question

But I see no reason

i know xD

11:54 PM
The question is just fine
had a nice sandbox score
