@Quill ([m]?se|so)
try that
@Quill I assume you want the beginning of the string, match only "MSE", "SE, or "SO"?

The m doesn't have to be in brackets
In fact, putting [mse|so|se] in brackets shouldn't do what you expect

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Make a pull request with the changes... You'll find the code in prompt.js

I did.
ninja'ed
@AlexA. ?

/m?se|so|se/i should be sufficient

11:05 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ [] represents an unordered set of possible values, so that would be equivalent to [mseo|]

@Quill that should work, but m?se|so would also work and is simpler.
@AlexA. yeah, i know. I was just wondering what the "in fact" was for.

Stating a fact

So apparently, I can't open PRs on mobile...

lol
BTW @Quill npm install generates this before completing successfully, just to let you know it hits the fallback apparently.
Rikers-MacBook-Pro:SE-Chat-Terminal-master rikerw$ npm install

> fsevents@1.0.12 install /Users/rikerw/Downloads/SE-Chat-Terminal-master/node_modules/fsevents
> node-pre-gyp install --fallback-to-build

xcode-select: error: tool 'xcodebuild' requires Xcode, but active developer directory '/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools' is a command line tools instance
just fyi

11:08 PM
I always thought someone should make a small game out of this: xkcd.com/43

@Quill also, can you make the commands split on spaces? for arguments.

Pls no ;-;

@Dennis TBF, Jelly has 180 commits and V has less than 30. :P
Although, I'd still really like to put V online. What's the next step if I wanted to do that?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ huh... I'll take a look

11:11 PM
might be me, but idk

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I don't have that module in the package.json... I'll do some more detective work later on

okay
then probably my computer has weird node settings?
or npm

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ open an issue for it and add it to milestone v2

I meant the split on space thing... <_< (but that's good too)

11:22 PM
@Quill Woah, that's so cool!
How have I not seen that before?

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ ?
the SE Chat terminal?

That alt-text....

Yeah, the chat terminal.

11:23 PM
okay
@El'endiaStarman lol
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ thought of a comic idea? let me know if you want it

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ I broke it for a while so I didn't whore it around like I do my other repos :p

I got like three stars in 24 hours

stars
I did a while ago, like 3 months ago.

@Quill I got it working, but is there anyway to do it without putting my password in my .bashrc?

11:32 PM
no
@Quill btw can I have write access?
or you add label/milestone to the issue

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ @VTC had the same concern, I've scheduled it for the current sprint, but given that's there's two of you concerned I'll do that next :)

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I already added the milestones

I wouldn't mind putting in my .bashrc except that I track that file on github, and I don't want my SE password to be public.

@Quill okay
@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ what OS do you run?

11:35 PM
It varies. Usually Windows 10 or Ubuntu.
Or windows 7 if I'm at work.

@Quill merger PR?
thanks

A: Obfuscation Challenge

Cᴏɴᴏʀ O'BʀɪᴇɴJavaScript ES6 I'm late to the party, but I was still the life of it. alert(eval(`[${[..."29234652749082823"].reduce((p,c)=>p+c+(c-~-[2<<2][""<<""]&&" ")) .match(/\S\d\S|.+?/g).filter(x=>x.trim()).map(t=>t>42?y.push(t):t,y=[]).reduce((c,p) =>c+(p.constructor==[j=+[]][j].constructor?" @DrGreenEggsandHamDJ Post a link.

Wait just a sec, I need to do one more push

V <--- Nice name for the language!
V (also known as V: The Series) is a 60-minute (47 to 49 minutes without commercials) weekly television series that aired in the United States on NBC in 1984-85. It is a continuation of the science fiction franchise about an alien invasion of Earth by a carnivorous race of reptilians known as "The Visitors" which was originally conceived by American writer, producer, and director Kenneth Johnson. Johnson, however, was not involved in the production of the weekly series. At a cost of one million dollars per episode, V was the most expensive series to be produced for television. == Plot == Following...

11:43 PM
I might change it to Vigor

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ That would mess up permalinks.
Is main.py the executable?

And this is Python 2?

It takes input in a weird way though. I've been doing this: python main.py -f working_file.txt
Yeah.
Although, it has a lot of dependencies. (been trying to work on that)
What OS does tryitonline run on?

Ubuntu

11:47 PM
Oh nice, that means you can apt-get.
That is convenient.

Other OSes have their own equivalent?
Is there anything special about apt-get?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I know it works for these particular packages.

It's exceptionally complicated.

We need a tryitonline lang for interacting with Try It Online
2

@Dennis which, apt-get or what's special about it?
@Quill yes pls

11:48 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ apt-get

@Dennis Oh hey, one thing I hadn't thought about. Is it a problem if arbitrary system calls can be made in V?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ debian.org/doc/debian-policy/…

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ yes. sanitize it.

E.g. sudo rm -rf /

11:49 PM
@quartata nopeing the hell out of apt-get then

complicated is an understatement

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ Executing arbitrary code, file access and internet access are all problematic.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ The nice part about dpkg is that 99% of the time it just works. But in the 1% of the time you're completely screwed

11:50 PM
lol

@dennis I'm going to have to go pretty soon here. Don't worry about it yet. I'll work on some instructions for installing it, and add some sanitation before you put it up.

Anyone into parallelism and vectorization: an interesting introduction to the Xeon Phi.

I'll probably have that done later this evening, and I'll ping you once it's reasonably safe and easy to install.

OK

'preciate it.

11:52 PM
@quartata Did you know that Homebrew has been ported to Linux? I'm pretty jazzed about that. I love Homebrew on OS X.

Everything should just have pacman

@mınxomaτ :D

Should V have an installation script, or is OK to just have a list of dependencies to install?

s/pacman/zypper

11:53 PM
s/r/r\//

@Dennis Hahaha. No.

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ I'd rather install it myself.

@Dennis Ugh. I despised using Zypper when I had an openSUSE VM.
2

11:54 PM
Well, I'm also wondering about in general for anyone that may install it in the future.

@mınxomaτ No need. I'll be on actual Arch soon enough. :P

@AlexA. You could have used YaST instead.

pacapt also supports homebrew. Sweet.

That's... not better

11:55 PM
^

Bah, what do OS X users know about software management anyway. :P

ಠ_ಠ

:D

^^
why don't you like OS X?

I was testing software on openSUSE. Everything about the OS was inconsistent as fck. And the package "managers" threw random errors left and right. Out of Arch, Debian, Ubuntu/eOS, CentOS (6 and 7) and Fedora, it was the worst linux distro I've ever used.

11:57 PM
@Dennis Is it possible to detect if a program is running on tryitonline from within python? A system() function would be really useful, and I'd like to be able to leave it in the desktop version if possible.

I'm running it one four different computers and never had any issues.

One of these days I'll try ElementaryOS... I'd also like to try Alpine Linux.

@Dennis You can cut bread with a spork and "never have any issues". Doesn't mean there's not a better way :P
13

Are you familiar with Alpine, @mınxomaτ?
@mınxomaτ Quote of the year right here

I agree

11:58 PM
openSUSE is great. weeps

I got the email and password passing into the script! :D

@AlexA. No. I'm still fooling with eOS. Advise: Don't use eOS with Realtek hardware. Just ... don't.

@Dennis Gives you a comforting hug while whispering "it's actually garbage" in your ear
