@AlexA. Doesn't look like it, there's just very detailed introduction.

@AlexA. Right, which is why I wonder what we're missing. I mean, I'm not good at regex, and I'll be the first to admit that, but 118 characters certainly seems pretty doable to me.

@TimmyD 118 characters seems to be the current record on the Finnish site.

Huh. OK then.
VTR

VTR?

8:02 PM
Virtual Tube Relay?

Vote To Reopen, ya goof

My nemesis. ಠ_ಠ

@VTCAKAVSMoACE Oh, wow.

For reference, the third law solution was way harder.
I got that one on the second attempt, the other one was clipped down from 100 or so tries.

@Zgarb Thanks so much for your help, I appreciate it!

8:08 PM
@AlexA. No problem!

> I'm even dumber than I thought
I'm really good at commit messages
I probably shouldn't be trying to code without food
Apr 27 at 20:29, by VTCAKAVSMoACE
@Dennis letsencrypt should be able to do that for you.
sumo'd by about 2 weeks
That's pretty impressive, actually.

@ArtOfCode By the way, did you get letsencrypt set up for QPixel?
I saw you added the gems but I didn't know if you did the config

Depending on his server setup, there should be plugins for letsencrypt-auto to just automate them entirely.

@quartata No, it failed miserably

8:17 PM
Ah gotcha
Did you do the IRC config?

In theory it should work, I got the certificates and everything, but it told me I had an invalid SSL config when I tried to connect.
@quartata just about to

@ArtOfCode Huh.
I just noticed that the Travis favicon turns green when looking at a successful build and red when looking at a failed build

Anonymous
@Dennis What are you doing to get that error?

python3 /opt/Actually/seriously/seriously.py -if code

@quart I assume you want me to change the passwords in the connect block to an actual password?
Does it need to be makepasswd'ed?

8:21 PM
@QPaysTaxes Cost was my second objection. Why would TIO need SSL?

@ArtOfCode No, it doesn't need to be encrypted
And yeah change it to something
It doesn't need to be anything good

@Dennis Sick and safe leave?

The admins will be able to see it in the admin panel on the Rails side so don't reuse a password or anything

@AlexA. TLS, actually.

@Dennis Terrible, lousy security? :P

8:23 PM
@Mego I tried changing from . import SeriouslyCommands to import SeriouslyCommands which takes care of that issue, but it chokes on the lib imports.

Anonymous
I've added a script in the main folder to be run instead (srs)

@quart config filled out; server restarted

OK, now pull the irc-testing branch and cross your fingers

oh dear

@Mego That seems to work.

Anonymous
8:25 PM
Woohoo \o/

I'll update Seriously now.

Anonymous
Thanks

@ArtOfCode What happened?

Anonymous
It will be a lot easier, since I'm not packaging it as a Python package

@quartata that was a prediction. It's pulled, let's see what happened.

8:27 PM
Any explosions in the logs?

@Mego Seems to be working too. seriously.tryitonline.net/…

Do I need to change the IRC password site setting?

Anonymous
Yay

Going to stage.artofcode.co.uk/chat throws error :/

@quartata Where's new_token defined?

8:28 PM
In ChatController. Probably wrong place

Yeah
You need to define it as a view helper if you want to call it in the view

How do I do that?

Or set the token from the controller

The function modifies a field in the controller as well as returning the token
Yes

8:30 PM
Okay, I see what you're trying to do, but your logic is in the wrong place. I'll move it over :P

@ArtOfCode That sentence wouldn't make sense to a non-programmer. :P

your logic is in the wrong place... yeah :)

@QPaysTaxes letsencrypt mentions rate limits (although I couldn't find details), so I'm not sure if TIO's 60 subdomains (and counting!) would be a problem.

@ArtOfCode Plus "I'll move it over". As if one could move logic!

@Dennis I think you can issue 5 certificates per FQDN per day
i.e. 5 per subdomain

8:32 PM
@QPaysTaxes I disagree. If no confidential information is exchanged, encryption only makes things slower and increases server load.

yeah

@ArtOfCode In case you couldn't already tell I haven't touched Rails in years

One does not simply forget to add SSL (or TLS, really).

@QPaysTaxes TIL @quartata is "shit ninja" in addition to quartatoes.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ nah, that's me
see?
so shit at ninja that I failed to ninja Q

8:35 PM
> undefined method `delete_if' for nil:NilClass
dafuq

@quartata you were nearly there

Did I forget to initialize tokens

so tokens is nil

@QPaysTaxes oh, cool.

Oh, no getter

8:36 PM
@quartata tends to help

hehe

you can do that one :)

All right, that should be better.

nope

? no?

8:39 PM
undefined method 'delete_if' for nil:NilClass still

Something's going wrong in the thread I think because there aren't any servers connected to QPixel IRC

@ArtOfCode that's okay.

@quart I'm not seeing anything in the IRC oper feed
good or bad
The problem is still that @tokens isn't initialized, so it's coming back as nil
Why not use a class variable? @@tokens?

Ouch ... the Ruby answer is shorter than what's required in PowerShell to handle ^ in that Universal Spooky Meme challenge.
That's just depressing.

Oh yeah, that's probably better.
My brain isn't on 100% today

8:46 PM
@TimmyD New PowerShell motto... "PowerShell: That's just depressing."

Hah

( ͡re ͜ʖ ͡kt)

Can you see the webrick log? An exception of some sort is getting thrown in the thread I think

I'm actually really impressed by your ability to golf PowerShell, @TimmyD.

@AlexA. theoretical star
I hit the limit.

@TimmyD I stand by this

So, depressing but you're impressed?
Dimpressing? Dempressing?
There's a concatenation there somewhere.

Deimpressing? Imdepressing?

Malimpressing

8:49 PM
@TimmyD I'm impressed by your abilities. My suggestion was for an official PS motto.

Ah, gotcha.

How did the bread dough afford college? It got knead-based financial aid.

I don't know a lick of Latin. I was just randomly adding prefixes and hoping I'd get stars

@AlexA. banned for terrible puns

@ArtOfCode If we're implementing that policy, we might as well shut down The Nineteenth Byte entirely.

@ArtOfCode can you see exceptions in the logs?
I can't really work on this now hopefully it might be something I can do fast

@quartata depends what exceptions you need

I just cleared off my desk and found a 7-11 receipt from 3 years ago. I should clear off my desk more often

Yeah, you know what's really depressing about this? The ^ operator in PowerShell is "Reserved for future use" ... and has been since v1. -.-
Yes, and I love it.

@ArtOfCode preferably ones from the IRC thread

8:56 PM
Dear Windows 10: Please let users open more than one instance of your native media player at a time. ಠ_ಠ Thank you

@quartata can't see any from it
the only exception is that nil variable one

Uhh huh
Oh wait duh
You gotta go the site settings and add the password

which one?
the send password or the accept one?

That wouldn't cause the nil exception though

@QPaysTaxes hahaha rekt

8:59 PM
The accept one. The send one doesn't matter

The nil exception... no idea, but making it a class variable might help

You'll have to restart webrick after by the way

after... what?

Changing the settings.
for the irc

@QPaysTaxes why not?

Uh really? Do /map

Damn.

@QPaysTaxes server ID. I put it as that deliberately.

Ok I have no idea what is going wrong. I'll look later.

@QPaysTaxes I don't.
no.
@AlexA. I saw in the news that a certain bird landed on bernie's lectern at a rally.....

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ hahaha really?

9:06 PM
really

Yeah

google it
@AlexA. what do you have to say for yourself?

@AlexA. are you proud that there are now stickers of you titled "Birdie"?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ #worthit
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ yes
@PhiNotPi The bird knew that Bernie was nonthreatening

9:10 PM
Surely you mean "I."

@AlexA. But Bernie didn't know that the bird was very threatening.

@ArtOfCode oh hey try the send password instead of the accept real quick

The bird was like "sup" and Bernie was like "o shit keep cool birds are like dinosaurs if i don't move it won't attack"

@quartata can do. Also, is TCPSocket#gets blocking? If not, that's your problem - the thread quits as soon as it's started.

It is blocking.

9:12 PM
cool

You can try the simpler program I sent in the gist

still not seeing anything

Append an else condition wirh puts message.join(" ") to the if condition in the loop and restart then check rails logs

@flawr He got so close...

9:17 PM
If nothing is output from that then I got nothing. I'll take a look when I'm actually in front of a computer with ssh

Nada. Two questions (a) are you sure that thread actually gets run? (b) do puts calls from threads actually get sent to log output?

The thread must not be starting I guess because the irc server would send something if I authenticated wrong

indeed

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ It was asked this month, actually (if you're referring to PPCG)

Έρικ ΚωνσταντόπουλοςNote: This challenge is not the same. This should operate only on the 1st dimension, not on all dimensions of an array. Rules Standard loopholes are...

Huh. I think that's legal.
Huh. I think that's legal.
Did you try the smaller version and saw if it compiles?

The Linux kernel is worse than Brainfuck though

Can anyone with enough rep VTC this as typographical error?

On a side note, apparently my grunt version is messed up and Travis won't build because of it

10:12 PM
@Quill did you do npm install grunt --save-dev?

@Downgoat I gotta fix the version or somethin

Yeah o think running that will fix the version in your package JSON by replacing it with the latest one. I'm using the later version and everything works fine for me

> sarcasm isn't allowed here
Correct.
Not in answers.

@Downgoat That's an error in Travis' build log

@AlexA. Can mods edit/delete/create posts on locked questions?

I don't know whether we can answer locked questions but we can edit and delete

@Quill that occurs when Travis is doing npm install, right?

yes

10:17 PM
@AlexA. cool
@Quill try npm update -g?

yesterday, by Optimizer
oh, btw, I have good news from SE team. We are getting our own awesome site design in November. Its a long wait, but it will be worth it.

@Optimizer such star

@Downgoat much opposite of you
no

10:24 PM
@Quill Everybody gets the design before us...

Meh
The community design is pretty good for now
better than all those other sites without designs

I dislike the userscript design

Mar 31 at 13:03, by Martin Büttner
@Geobits oh yeah, I definitely agree with that... makes it seem a bit like "I really want to make the design for Puzzling, can we graduate them?" :D
@AlexA. yeah, it's not great.

@AlexA. :c

But a good substitute at least.

10:25 PM
Like Anime&Manga, who graduated before you guys and don't even have a userscript design

@AlexA. Do you dislike the design specifically, or the principal of having to make one

And i don't think WB got a design yet.

If anyone can come up with a better design tell me and ill do it

10:26 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ They got a design but it hasn't gone live yet

oh
oh, okay
o_O I got 1 rep on PPCG?
Like a plain +1 today.

@Quill I wonder if their suggestions will be ignored like Puzzling's were

I used to have 1540, now I have 1541....

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ an answer you downvoted must of gotten deleted

@AlexA. probably

10:28 PM
@Quill I was surprised that they went with square brackets for Emacs. I mean, have you ever used Emacs? It's round brackets everywhere.

@AlexA. Something about lisp
goddamn it. ninja'd by a member of my Q race

@Quill they are only three people of the Q race... hardly a race

Yeah, that's my point, () -> Lisp, as in Emacs Lisp

so Downgoat got me good with the npm update -g troll
it's still running

@QPaysTaxes but they are 5-6 D users
@Quill it wasn't a troll....

@Downgoat oh, that makes sense.

In python you stick a comma on the end to replace the newline with a space. i.e. print "foo",.

Q: Removing trailing newline character from fgets() input

sfactorI am trying to get some data from the user and send it to another function in gcc. The code is something like this. printf("Enter your Name: "); if (!(fgets(Name, sizeof Name, stdin) != NULL)) { fprintf(stderr, "Error reading Name.\n"); exit(1); } However, I find that it has a newline ...
