8:00 PM
it is an attempted golf

@Mr.Xcoder Yes, it is clever. It also happens to be a total and complete coincidence

It does

@cairdcoinheringaahing yes but they had to find the string
it wasn't gifted to them :P

@totallyhuman This is shorter by 12 bytes, and outputs the date for last year.
@cairdcoinheringaahing ಠ_ಠ That can be golfed

Just because an answer is not golfed as far as possible doesn't mean it's invalid. If that was the case, we wouldn't take any answers unless you could prove (i.e., brute force show) that every smaller program wouldn't solve the challenge, which is obviously impossible. There's a line to be drawn somewhere, and it's unfortunately one of those "I'll know it when I see it" sort of things.

8:03 PM
@Mr.Xcoder You mean you? Wrong link :P

Umm
Sorry
Take this user's case. She has over 1000 reputation from 2 answers only.

@cairdcoinheringaahing Graphical User Interface in a golfing language?

@Mr.Xcoder Yeah. Clearly required right?

.... caps again
@cairdcoinheringaahing Clearly.

8:05 PM
I might change it to internet stuff so that it can compete in questions
@totallyhuman Once I have a proper golfing language finished (what I'm doing now), I'll stop complaining and start posting more answers :P

I should decrease the pace a bit...

current_year = 0
for character in 'Happy new year to you!':
    current_year = current_year + ord(character)
print(current_year)

@Mr.Xcoder Limit yourself to one answer a day. That's what I do with ideas for languages :D

@Mr.Xcoder I count 920 rep?

@AdmBorkBork Then you count wrong
> 1021 reputation

8:08 PM
@AdmBorkBork Yeah, nearly all of us have the assoc bonus.

87+5=92 ... 92*10=920

are you not including the assoc bonus
oh

@caird severe ಠ_ಠ

bounties maybe?

@totallyhuman No, 920+101 = 1021.

8:09 PM
No, it's the association bonus, but that didn't come from PPCG answers

I still love it that Jon Skeet has a code golf account

8:21 PM
he has one deleted joke answer too

@DJMcMayhem Here you go!

Thinking of making yet another interactive periodic table (but this time Better™)
Currently have this useless, non-interactive HTML table:

ptable.com is your friend.

@ATaco Sorry, builtins aren't allowed :p

@ATaco Ah, but this one will be even Better™

9:07 PM
@DJMcMayhem I'll try to find it
it was a made-up language with a 1 byte solution iirc

@Riker All languages are made up languages :P

@cairdcoinheringaahing ok. Good night! (I assume you are in The UK)

@Mr.Xcoder Yeah, I am . Good night!

You know what? Let me pin those in the morning, when I get up.

@Mr.Xcoder I think the pins transfer because I'm a RO. Anyway, I should stop encouraging you to chat :p

9:49 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing you know you can shift-click right

@Riker ಠ_ಠ

?

@Riker I manually clicked each one to add it to the messages to be moved, and now you're saying I can do it all in one click?
@Riker also, what did you change in the Room Description?

@Riker the r looks like t unless you're really looking for it on a HD screen. I had/was doing neither :p

@Riker no, I have a very low quality computer monitor.
@Dennis do you mind if a borrow parts for the Jelly string decompressor for Deorst v2?

Q: Maximum Recursion Depth

Strakl SethDoes your language have a maximum recursion depth (MRD)? Let's say your language has MRD=500 Write a code that finds the recursion depth and outputs the exact value For the case above your program (or function) should output 500 Code-Golf Shortest answer wins!

@cairdcoinheringaahing Stack overflow might be more suited for programming questions, but not this one. This question would be closed instantly on SO, so there isn't any point in directing them there
