8:00 PM
4-1/2 minute dupe closure, nice

A surfboard it is!

@TimmyD @Zgarb Fixed
Whoops, wrong person @zyabin101
Sorry @Zgarb

@βετѧΛєҫαγ Justin Gatlin?

Huh?
I don't speak goat

8:14 PM
Justin Gatlin (born February 10, 1982) is an American sprinter, who is an Olympic gold medalist in the 100-meter dash. His 100m personal best is 9.74 seconds. He is a twice World indoor champion in the 60-meter dash. In 2001, he incurred a two-year ban from Athletics for testing positive for a banned substance; the ban was later reduced to one year on appeal. In 2006, he incurred a four-year ban from track and field for testing positive for a banned substance, with this sanction erasing his then-world-record time of 9.77s in the 100m. Gatlin began competing again in August 2010, soon after his...

OK, TIO just got a donate button that appears to the right of the usual buttons and leads to a donation page. Right now, only Bitcoins are supported.

@Dennis Add it to the language index also?

Thoughts on the matter are welcome.

@Dennis Is TIO your site?

8:17 PM
Yes.

@Quill halp node is borked:

Ohh, sorry Dennis, forgot that even a zero edit pings... >_>

@Dennis Cool! I'll probably donate some (though not until later). Remind me, what's the monthly cost?

@zyabin101 Hm, it looks kinda out of place there. I don't want it to be intrusive, and it blends in rather nicely with the other buttons. Also, someone who only saw the index is unlikely to make a donation...

Then add it as a link in the end of the lang index itself, as a smaller link?

8:21 PM
@DrGreenEggsandIronMan The current box costs only 5 dollars a month, but I'd like to get a better one. With doubled cost, there comes doubled RAM, and RAM is definitely the bottleneck right now.

@Dennis i have a friend who's a nigerian prince. he has lots of money to donate but doesnt have bitcoin account. pls share bank details and ssn so he can transfer funds
10

6 dollars. Forgot off-site backups.
@Downgoat Joke's on you. I don't have an SSN.

Wouldn't PayPal be more appropriate? Bitcoin seems a bit niche

@βετѧΛєҫαγ BTC is way more accessible than PayPal as it doesn't depend on one platform.

I'm also not sure if that would require some paperwork.
And PayPal takes a fee, although it's still a lot less than those crowdfunding sites.

8:23 PM
@Quill halp, how to fix memory leak in node

You can use Paypal to directly transfer BTC at every single trading site. I e.g. use bitpanda.com for international payments.

@Dennis how the idea of putting a small link in the end of the lang index would look like:

I'll think about it.
@mınxomaτ That looks nice, but the EUR 25,- minimum...

@Dennis Well, obliviously you'd need you own wallet for smaller amounts.
E.g. most German markets connect via API to the major banks and allow for smaller amounts to be traded.
A good idea would be to visit the markets list at bitcoinity.org/markets, select your currency and then choose the market you like.

Nobody's made PPCGcoin yet, right?

8:34 PM
@PhiNotPi Nope.

There are a lot of weird coins, but that one's missing.

@Dennis If you do end up making shorter URLs, please also retain the feature for shortened permalink versions of the code
(i.e. what is already in place)

PPCGcoin could be a coin based on your code golf progress.

@ConorO'Brien I won't break old permalinks. No worries.

okay :)

8:35 PM
@Adnan :)

:)

You might gain a PPCGcoin each time you golf a byte.

also, the bitcoin address's height is a tad too small, and has a scroll width (firefox, latest version)

However, a grant of PPCGcoins would be reviewed and verified first.

And, it's resizable ._.

8:37 PM
There's probably an easy way for us to make our own coin.

@PhiNotPi Crowdfund for some coin making company to make it for us? XD
Chat mini-challenge: Convert integer sets from RANDOM.ORG into a python dictionary.
Test case: Set 1: 2, 7, 14, 18, 20 ==> {1: [2, 7, 14, 18, 20]}
Another test case: Set 2: 3, 5, 11, 12, 19 ==> {2: [3, 5, 11, 12, 19]}

I've watched Primer twice over the past two days. Or once, depending on your perspective.

Okay, so no one answered the CMC.

Now I'm trying to figure out which of the many movie explanations is most coherent. (edit: nb4 xkcd)

That means only one thing: I have to graduate this challenge to an actual challenge
if people consent
And that might be a chance to get someone's attention on me.

@zyabin101 it takes time to do a challenge. we're not some weird machines that spurt golfed code out of our earlobes

Wow Primer was 12 years ago, I watched it twice in 05 or 06

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan The Set is necessary in the input.

@PhiNotPi have you heard of qntm? qntm.org/primer

8:48 PM
That might be a reason that the answer is invalid: v.tryitonline.net/…

@miles yes, I listened to his companion audio track.

@flawr "The plane that thought it was a car"

@ConorO'Brien I made a few changes. Did it improve anything? I can't reproduce the size issue locally.

@Dennis try changing the height from 2vh to 1.2em

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan Almost valid: { 1: contains a space between { and 1:.

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan Doesn't it have to be an actual dictionary, not a string?

@zyabin101 ? it's still a valid python dictionary

@ConorO'Brien Well, Dennis might be.

8:54 PM
this is true

@ConorO'Brien Why on Earth did I use vh?

I have no idea :/

@Dennis very height. much code. wow.
2

x=>(a=x.split(/[:,]\s*/).map(e=>i++?e:"{"+e.slice(4)+":[",i=0),a.shift()+a+"]}")
for a valid python dictionary
and this for the one you want:
x=>(a=x.split(/[:,]\s*/).map(e=>i++?e:"{"+e.slice(4)+": [",i=0),a.shift()+a.join`, `+"]}")

8:57 PM
@DrGreenEggsandIronMan Congrats! It's valid!

Hm, I need to upgrade my PayPal account to business to accept donations. I'm not sure what the implications would be...

Actually, this is a byte shorter. v.tryitonline.net/…

hey, There has been some talk as to whether or not this is considered on topic.

http://meta.codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/9769/46918

If anyone would be willing to speak as to whether it is a valid challenge let me know

On phonr
Halp i have -5 user was removed in my rrp tab

This is one byte shorter still: v.tryitonline.net/…

@PhiNotPi ._.
please don't remind me of the confusion

@TùxCräftîñg it means someone who upvoted you before got deleted. Nothing you can do.

@PhiNotPi have you seen this? qntm.org/primer

9:10 PM
qntm ftw

Oh man, that's a good movie. I should watch it again.

9:15 PM
Okay ðen, stop before it becomes spam?

"ðen"?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ yes

@ConorO'Brien "then".

Isn't that letter named "thorn"?

9:16 PM
@zyabin101 ... isn't that en eth, not a thorn?

(Although I'm not sure if the reposting is intentional or not... I missed all of the removed messages)

@ConorO'Brien Yup.

Dang it. What's a thorn then?

@zyabin101 I'm not (greek|russian|whatever)
Þ, þ
^ thorns

A obscurr icelandic letter afaik
And yts thorn

9:18 PM
Oh, duh. I should have known that.

Oh nvm with the mobile font rn look like m

@TùxCräftîñg I think you mean "Icelandic"

@TùxCräftîñg I'm Irish ಠ_ಠ

I'm in Iceland right now. It's beautiful.

anyone please?
some feedback

@TùxCräftîñg it's actually not all that obscure in Iceland ;)

@RohanJhunjhunwala You have chosen a difficult type of challenge to write in

So what letter is this: "Đ"?

Yeah, but good challenges are good

capital eth

9:22 PM
And this: "Æ"?

wow thats a tautolgy

Alright, language enthusiasts in here (@Doorknob and @HelkaHomba at least), check this out: youtube.com/watch?v=bxARj07jFp0

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan ae grapheme?

This actually made me wonder if this concept (synthesis of words from morphemes) could be worked into a programming language.

what I ment was, if you do succeed many pop contests turn out amazing. I.E high risk high reward @Adnan

9:23 PM

> Ps: Brain Fuck is a language hard and crazy.
-.-

@RohanJhunjhunwala You might wanna read this.
They are hard to write imo

@ConorO'Brien I think it's a distinct letter. Idk though

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan read down four messages
or three

do you remember i said i3 was going crazy

9:26 PM
solution: numlock

CMC: compute oeis.org/A000004

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan @ConorO'Brien it's a distinct letter and it's pronounced "eye" (both the letter on its own as well as when its used in a word)

@MartinEnder oh, cool. In German? or in all cases

in Icelandic
German doesn't have it

9:30 PM
sorry, I don't know much german or icelandic :p

@miles python lambda n:0

@MartinEnder do you speak icelandic then?

not really, but I took classes for one and a half years or so.

@miles 0, jolf

9:32 PM
oh my, how is it so short

@miles FOG, 1 byte, 0
@miles idk iz majik

n=>0, javascript; 0:, J

->{0}, ruby

C: main(){for(;;)puts("0");} Emojicode: 🏁🍇🍊▶️2 1🍇😀🔤0🔤🍉🍉 Brainfuck: +++++++[>+++++++<-]-[.]

9:34 PM
Cheddar, ->0

Mathematica: idk but zero has to be a builtin

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ no, but 0&

@ReleasingHeliumNuclei oops +++++++[>+++++++<-]>-[.]

well I personally think the Retina solution is the best. all the others are way too predictable ;)

9:37 PM
how does the retina one work?
J*fuck, a lot of bytes

it just tries to match a 7 and doesn't find one. you could use pretty much any other character instead

@MartinEnder okay, that's what I thought
wait
@MartinEnder doesn't work for test case 7

oh damn, I assumed empty input

gotta make it some random letter then

@MartinEnder but...it only prints the first one. what about others?

?
it's not infinite

@MartinEnder cool, thanks! I know almost nothing about Icelandic... how do your pronounce "Ö"?

@miles this is kinda infinite

9:39 PM
@DrGreenEggsandIronMan there's not really an equivalent in English

@ReleasingHeliumNuclei no? just print 0 no matter what the input is

@MartinEnder What's the closest?

a(n) = 0 doesn't mean while 1:print 0

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan it's a bit similar to the vowel in "burn" in British English (where you don't pronounce the "r" at all)... but with the lips a bit more rounded

oh sry 😊🔫

9:42 PM
Anyone here familiar with eisenstein integers?

lemme fix my other programs: C: main(){puts("0");} Emojicode: 🏁🍇😀🔤0🔤🍉 Brainfuck: +++++++[>+++++++<-]>-.

Challenge idea: Given a complex number, "round" to the closest eisenstein integer.

just the nearest neighbour by Euclidean distance?

But I'm not sure whether to restrict compley number to gaussian integers
@MartinEnder Exactly.

9:46 PM
how do you break ties?

I don't.

:/
@flawr sounds more fun with Gaussian integers actually

The idea was in case of a tie, any of the closest can be returned.

User was removed Does anyone have an idea who?

Aww... user was removed. ;_;

9:48 PM
@MartinEnder Hm I thought so, but then I think gaussian integer -> eisenstein integer is more interesting than the other way round, right?

Haha
I was saying the same

You ninja'd me

@flawr yes

Now I need a catchy title

@LuisMendo How much did you lose? I only lost ten, so I'm not heartbroken.

9:50 PM
@DrGreenEggsandIronMan Me just 5

@LuisMendo I hope you don't miss those 5 rep too much. If you do, just let me know and you get a pity upvote.

@flawr :-D
It may have been agawa001. Checking

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ That is a really cool idea, but probably not valid?

9:53 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ not sure if really clever or invalid. -_-

I think it was Agawa001. He's not in PPCG anymore
Funny how so many people write their age in their profile. Do they keep updating it?

Forever young.

Hahaha. Nice! That song is in my head now

@LuisMendo does HTML?

9:56 PM
@Adnan He doesn't appear here
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I don't think so, either :-)
Maybe it's name-sentitive., not user sensitive

@LuisMendo Not directly. But given the user id, we can pull some URL tricks.

I think it's valid. But that's just me. Do we have a consensus on not TC languages for code-golf questions?

@Dennis But we don't know the id, do we?

@LuisMendo Hmm, that's weird

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ We have a line in the sand

9:58 PM
How did turtles get over 50 votes? ._.

@LuisMendo If we only know the user removed message, no.

and then we have multiple lines in the sandbox

@Adnan Seeing the URL, it probably detects the name, not the user
