@HelkaHomba I have no idea. I used to try and predict how many votes my challenges would get, but I got 46 on a challenge I thought would get maybe 21, and 21 on a challenge I thought would get to 35

@LuisMendo Oh, that makes sense

@Adnan That URL does include the id, which is permanent, unlike the name. But then so does my previous link. What a mess

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ A septuple pendulum or something similar?

A no, it is not a pendulum, it is just a visualization of a fourier series.

okay (googled)

@El'endiaStarman Nice link!
Funny (to a Spaniard) how he pronounces "hablo" :-)

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Epicycles of circles can draw any shape. (Though they are still cool.) Ptolemy famously, erringly used them to model planet movement.

@HelkaHomba Has anyone ever used anything to non-erringly model planet movement? :D

Q: A Fractional Year

βετѧ ΛєҫαγMy PPCG holiday is over :D Intro Fractional time is the year (2016) plus the value (minute of year) / number of minutes in the year. @flawr Kepler's laws are good models. I mean with Ptolemy, any motion could be explained away

10:24 PM
@Dennis Only bitcoins? :-(

@LuisMendo Let's make ... bytecoins.

@LuisMendo Currently reviewing other options. I wanted to add PayPal, but that requires documents I do not have.

@flawr and then let's donate nineteen of them. :P

@Dennis Would it be difficult to simply use a credit card?

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan no no no we can only donate 18 we wouldn't want to loose our chat room :P

10:29 PM
@NewMainPosts that's a lot of messages

@Dennis Can you please pull 05AB1E?

I need to make a language called pull :p

"Could you please pull pull"

Hahahaha

10:30 PM
@HelkaHomba xD

@HelkaHomba question: does this link go to gif/image?

@HelkaHomba haha my skin isn't on that website. probably because I haven't upgraded to a mojang account
@Downgoat no, but it contains one
or something similar

@ConorO'Brien could you please pull²?

@ConorO'Brien Or "my finger".

@Adnan Pulled.

10:31 PM
@HelkaHomba or my leg :P

Thanks :)

@LuisMendo Directly is a no go for low volume. Currently investigating Skrill and Flattr.

@HelkaHomba mine is not there. :(

@ConorO'Brien s/pull/GitHub/

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan That would already be quite a lot, right??

10:33 PM
@ASCII-only who are you again? :/

@ConorO'Brien is obviously a sock of Conor
@ConorO'Brien Look at network profile

@ConorO'Brien It's Mars I think

it is. ._.

@Doorknob I don't know if you saw this but github.com/redox-os/redox

10:35 PM
woah
that's a lotta stars

wat
pure rust?

and asm probably

how does one use it

majik is answer to both

how did they make an entire os

10:37 PM
@ASCII-only Well, obviously there's some assembly
@ASCII-only Rust does compile to machine code you know...
And it can be built free-standing and still have most of the cool stuff I think

@quartata I mean, it's not exactly easy to make an entirely new OS

Sure, but I'm saying it's not that weird.
Actually I think making an OS in Rust would be less painful than in C if you designed it correctly.

I know, but it's just that I haven't seen very many complete OSes designed in languages other than C
I mean, there's one in asm, some unfinished ones in [.NET](github.com/mosa/MOSA-Project/wiki), and that's about all I've seen.

Actually a lot of old kernels are in assembly :P

@NewSandboxedPosts is that base 9+1 or base Z+1 or something else?

@ConorO'Brien .____________.

@flawr that would be about 11,050 US dollars. So yes, that would be an insane amount.

@Dennis Maybe you should add PayPal sometime?

10:51 PM
That's not possible for me.

@Dennis Why not?

@LuisMendo Currently reviewing other options. I wanted to add PayPal, but that requires documents I do not have.

@Downgoat oh

Try forging them

10:52 PM
That's always a good idea for things that involve money. >_>

But what kind of documents do you need for that? I think I was able to register without anything except a physical and e-mail adress.

You need a business account for donations.

@flawr Eh, sure. If I just include my email address on the website, people could send me money from PayPal directly. That would work.

10:55 PM
@DrGreenEggsandIronMan you get my last star

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ "last"?

Maybe you could pay for an account where your programs are stored together

So that's why somebody unstarred my post. That hurts, you know?

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan for another 1h 5 min i'm out of stars
@Dennis i am deeply sorry
now wait 1h 5min

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ what's the rate?

10:56 PM
20 per day
resets at 00:00 UTC, so 1h 5min

I did some math just out of curiosity and apparently 100 RPis mining for bitcoins would make me 2 cents a day. Amazing

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ He actually makes cool stuff.

@Dennis btw, if/when you get enough to upgrade plan, maybe it's a good idea to use the extra space to cache results, at least until a language is updated

10:57 PM
@Rickrollers: Why don't you search for other songs from now on? A bit of variety never hurt.

@quartata explain to me "bitcoin mining"

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I am truly and deeply honored to have earned your last star. I will treat it with honor and respect.

@ASCII-only I'm planning to enable cached results with server-side permalinks, like Ideone does.

10:59 PM
@Dennis oh ok, that probably works a lot better

@Dennis is œs splitting x into y chunks of similar length y or splitting x into y chunks of similar length?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ There's an equivalent speed dedicated miner that's 1/5th the price too

@miles y chunks. s splits into chunks of length y.
For a square, they do the same.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ nice try

11:00 PM
it's not a rickroll

can confirm

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ uh huh sure

11:00 PM
i'm not that mean
@Downgoat I promise on my small caps it's not a rickroll.

It's Rick Astley - Angels on my Side.
So only slightly better

(And no I didn't click on it)

@Dennis yes they're equivalent, thanks. I think you had a typo then on your wiki for œs

11:01 PM
@quartata technically still a rickroll because it's rick astley

Was trying to hammer out a "We're going to enable -Wall and make ________ pay for it" joke but I just couldn't get there

@miles That sounds like something I would do, yeah.

Bitcoins are really weird but pretty interesting

11:02 PM
@quartata The blockchain is pretty interesting

@Quill Yeah, I agree. That's the most interesting part
@TùxCräftîñg Linux has 35k.

i got 8 clicks on the link at least

I haven't memorized most of your atoms so I have to scroll thru each time to recall if there was an operation

@TùxCräftîñg cheddar has 20

11:04 PM
@Downgoat wow

Well with 7 $6000 miners I can make minimum wage

do we have a range challenge? (not going to make one if not existent, just wondering)

@quartata why not write virus that uses host computer for bitcoin mining

11:05 PM
@Downgoat esea already tried that one. Didn't work out too well

That's why you just repurpose the company servers

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Yeah, that joke might have gone over your head...

the clippy reference?

@quartata After the bitcoin halving, mining has been very unprofitable
^^

Thanks!!

Hello

11:15 PM
Any opinions on this? :3
Or is it ready to post

@Adnan Maybe now is a good time to invest in Dogecoin

I have mined some Dogecoin a few years ago :p
I got ~10 now

@Adnan I think it looks cool, but I don't know .~. I'm no expert

which is about €0.002
@DestructibleWatermelon Thanks :)

@Adnan so what happens if i write an arbitrarily long original one and an almost impossibly short golfed one?

11:18 PM
@ASCII-only It just needs to be golfed off 1 byte in order to be cracked
I might need to specify that a bit more

but then what's the chance it won't get cracked? :(

If it's long and easy to golf off, the chance would be very small
If it's already golfed a lot and needs some thought to golf off another byte, the chance of it being cracked is a lot smaller.

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan What did your username used to be?

@βετѧΛєҫαγ DJMayhem?

@Adnan But if someone good at golfing just does their own solution, they'll probably have an 100% chance of golfing a short solution

11:25 PM
@ASCII-only What do you mean?

@LuisMendo Ohh

@Adnan If someone good at golfing does a solution from scratch, it's almost certain it's shorter than your Cops post

@ASCII-only Yeah, which is why you need to think good about the cop submission
Normally, in CnR, it is easy for the cops but a lot harder for the robbers
and I wanted to prevent that a bit
As well as the cryptography problem

@daHugLenny @LuisMendo did you realize that you both have the same solution on the square text challenge?

it's a fun idea, and since I missed the last few cnr challenges I'm looking forward to this 1

11:29 PM
CnR's seem to be very rare, which is very unfortunate :(

@GamrCorps My solution before daHugLenny's had 6 bytes. It was Adnan who suggested the « function to me. Should I revert my edit?

I think using verbose languages as a cop would be fun

Dogecoin would do slightly better it looks like ($.16/day). However it doesn't look like it would ever be profitable given the $500 investment :P

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan C# is compiled to bytecode

@quartata Hahaha, yeah right. It's almost 10 times longer than the shortest answer.
That's what I love about vimgolf. It's very competitive, but only some of the time.

Well, I mean it's Vim.
Plus you had to do squareroot

and frickin float2nr. Come on!

@GamrCorps I have rolled back. The other answer, although almost identical to mine, was earlier

It's almost as bad as java.

@HelkaHomba I don't know, but the real travesty is that @trichoplax hasn't even answered it yet.
